Thanks, I really needed a laugh tonight!
Please tell me you did read what I wrote though, and did not think the title was something I meant.
i know some former witnesses away from the board and when we have talked, we have commented on how we still see people put elders in this category, even after the exit.
once in a discussion with someone who used to be an elder, the person who used to be an elder did something kind of harsh in their comments.
the person in the group stated, "there is no way someone like you would have ever been an elder.

finally-free wrote this comment on the "united in worship topic..." i thought it would make a great bumper sticker.
the watchtower is a bit like microsoft in this respect.
you're always having to upgrade, but very little new useful functionality is included in upgrades.
Honk if your worldly!
Actually, I would like a bigger chart that shows more religions. I also think calling Muslims a cult is kind of out of main stream thinking. The Muslim "religion" is the largest religion in the world. In definition though, all religions are cults from a certain point of view.
while the watchtower bible & tract society continues to support it's 1914 doctrine, in the new young people ask video and its magazines, one can't help but wonder if they notice world events that challenge their chronology.... http://www.boston.com/news/nation/washington/articles/2005/11/11/ever_fewer_wwi_veterans_mark_the_armistice_of_1918/?rss_id=boston+globe+--+national+newsever fewer, wwi veterans mark the armistice of 1918only about 50 thought still alive.
by douglass k. daniel, associated press | november 11, 2005. washington -- lloyd brown remembers armistice day in 1918 as few -- ever so few -- veterans can.
''for the servicemen there were lots of hugs and kisses," recalls brown, of charlotte hall, md., a teenage seaman aboard the battleship uss new hampshire, in port stateside when the fighting stopped.

a quote from a poster on another thread that i promised myself i wouldn't hijack:a portion of [posters on jwd are] antitheists which means they hold the view that science has already proved that god doesn't exist.
may i ask, who are these posters?
i don't read every post on jwd, i could buy that i just missed it.. atheists by and large have come to that point by realizing that things that can't be proven shouldn't be believed outright.
Newsline ...

I know some former Witnesses away from the board and when we have talked, we have commented on how we still see people put elders in this category, even after the exit. What do I mean? Once in a discussion with someone who used to be an elder, the person who used to be an elder did something kind of harsh in their comments. The person in the group stated, "there is no way someone like you would have ever been an elder." Interesting, isn't it. Why wouldn't someone who would do something harsh, have been an elder? Are elders still seen as perfect kind men who should be respected? I have even read comments on this board that show some people still hold them in a place that is not fitting, an almost hidden respect that we might want to examine in ourselves. Elders are men who are placed into power by a organization, and not God. They did not receive God's Spirit when they gave talks, they did not have angels with them when they shepherded your family. You let a man in your house who was assigned power by an organization. No different then talking to the manager at your local fast food restaurant, in that they are both just people doing a job assigned to them and not something guided by God. If you are among those who still see elders, those old men you knew for decades and worked with, as anything other then just a man. Then wake up!!!!!!! Elders are men who have hidden lives, emotional issues, anger management issues, power issues, and insecurity issues. Like everyone else, and in some cases worse, as they do think they are doing it all for Jehovah. I actually know one former elder who admitted to masturbating after talking to sisters about their sex life, ever wonder why they wanted so much detail?
pat robertson recently stated this about a town who removed from power people who pushed the creation teachings, and elected people who accepted evolution.
does this appeal to religious people to feel this way?
i know witnesses would think this, but never actually say it to a public newspaper or media.
Pat Robertson recently stated this about a town who removed from power people who pushed the creation teachings, and elected people who accepted evolution. Does this appeal to religious people to feel this way? I know Witnesses would think this, but never actually say it to a public newspaper or media. I personally think that teaching creation in school, opens a can of worms. If you teach creation, you are teaching Christian religion. Although we have a Christian society, we also have a society that is constantly crying out in lawsuits "equal representation" and "political correctness." If you teach the Christian creation, you must teach the Buddhist, the Wicca, and the American Indian. Why? Because you opened the door to religion in the school and not all children in school are Christian. So for Pat Robertson to say these comments, shows the arrogant ignorance of several religious leaders. People do not want religion being knocked on their door on Saturday morning, any more so then they want it taught to their children. Not only that, which religious creation view will be taught. We above all others, should know that Christian sects have a serious distrust of one another and all would want to be the ones to teach the creation and not listen to the other.
Does saying these comments bring on God's wrath too?
i was wondering something and wanted to see what others thought .... my sister, an active witness, recently became a foster parent to a baby.
in history, the baby is the child of my uncles underage girlfriend, that he is now serving time for raping (under age, always seen as a rape).
the young woman was doing meth (clean for almost a year now), and was living with her own mother who was an alcoholic.
As of last Friday, they took the child away from my sister and said they would call in 24-48 hours with information on what was going on. They never called and my sister called to learn it had been placed elsewhere and her services were no longer needed. When she asked for visitation from time to time, they said "no!" I think she got another slap to reality.
