Is this a forum for JW issues or a poorly designed political and celebrity site?
by Band on the Run init appears to me that even in the few months that i have been here there is less and less emphasis on jehovah's witnesses and anything remotely related to jws and more very poor posts about politics, foreign affairs and celebrities.
i can't omit the juvenile sex ones, which i find lacking in erotic nature.
it seems the 6th grade boys are meeting in the locker room.. the posts that involve jws have a very different tone from the drivel posted on others.

In general, what is the ethically correct response if a minor tells you someone is molesting him/her?
by InterestedOne ini was thinking about what the elders are trained to do versus what i personally would do if a minor confided in me that someone was molesting him/her.
i'm not sure what the ethically correct first response should be.
my first thought is to contact some kind of law enforcement that specializes in investigating situations like this with people experienced in getting to the truth of the matter.

In my own life, I would address the parent and see what is said. Then I would call authorities to investigate. I do not care if this cost a friendship or communication with a family member in the least. I would always report it!

How active are you?
by free2beme inthey say that as a society, we are all getting fatter and fatter.
so i ask, how active are you?
if you took a snap shot of the last five days, can you find moments of exercise or doing something besides sitting in front of the computer, lifting a remote or fork, or perhaps walking to get the mail?

I think it is worth saying that there are lies. But think about who is lying. It is often angry people and people who are very upset about how they were treated. They can throw something out there, and if others are just as angry or upset. It can take like that! Soon a false thought is fact, as no one took the time to research it. To note, that happens in society a lot too (... see Urban Legends). Anyway, I have also met people on here who were obviously suffering from serious mental illness. These people have said things, that seems wrong, but because the people listening wanted it to be real ... it spread like a wild fire. Soon what was once a rant of a mentally ill person, was now fact and something people wanted to protest Kingdom Halls about.
So yes, some lies, a lot of truth though. If it sounds too good to be true, probably isn't. Works in several parts of life.

Not to be a jerk, but yes I have on many occasions seen Apostates lie. I have also seen them get down right rude, been assholes and back bitting. As with any group on all sides of the issues, going to have some bad apples in the bunch.

My sister in law said to me the other day, "I here that as we age, it is harder to loss weight." I replied, "No, it is that we become to comfortable with gaining weight." If you think about it, it makes sense. We get comfortable and say things like, "Take me as I am" and "This is me, like it or not." Which is a lot of how we feel inside, as we age to be happy within our own skin. However, what is the first thing every divorced person I meet does. Loss weight, get fit. Why? Because inside all of us gaining weight, is a voice saying "You could do better, you don't look healthy in that mirror anymore." So I say, hear the voice and admit it.

How could Jesus be ruling the world since 1914 yet Satan is the ruler of the world?
by yadda yadda 2 injuly 2011 awake (p.5) says: the ruler of this world.
the bible states: the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one.
(john 12:31; 1 john 5:19) that wicked one is satan the devil, a powerful spirit creature who is described as the ruler of the authority of the air.

Maybe it is like the US government. Satan is the ultra libral Democrats, and Jesus is the ultra conservative GOP. Jehovah is the President. Prayer and faith are the votes and Sin is the lobbiest. When they want to put Jesus in place as the new President, they can not get a 2/3rds majority. As Jehovah wont vote to leave and Satan would never side with Jesus. Basically, it functions like are government all the way to the end. Three groups that a lot of people have faith in getting things done, but because they all have their own agenda, nothing ever really does get done.

I think an effort to exercise, in any amount, is something to commend people on. I know it is easy to sit and watch tv with a bag of chips and cookies, while drinking a beer. However, I have found keeping active is more an improvement of body and mind. I keep positive, I want to do more things and I honestly see things in a better way and laugh a lot. No one says you have to do a ton, but start with a little and work your way up. This sight often gives suggestions on how to fight depression of stress. Mine is, keep active, exercise and feel better.

If you took a snap shot of the last five days, can you find moments of exercise or doing something besides sitting in front of the computer, lifting a remote or fork, or perhaps walking to get the mail? I personally am very active. I run at least 3 times a week 2-3 miles. On the other days I ride a bike about 5 miles or more a couple times and for fun I hike in to local waterfalls, fish, or explore. I am 5 miles from a grocery store and make it a point to ride my bike with a small backpack to get things that are minor, when I need them. I made a choice awhile back to keep active, push myself to do things and find new ways to keep moving. It is not easy, and at times I have to kick myself in the butt to keep going. Yet, I do it, and as example tonight after my work I am taking some chicken, salad and drinks with me on a ten mile bike ride with my family and we will eat out dinner in a park we could have drove to in 10 minutes. It is things like that, but what are you doing? Are you pushing yourself, or are you among the statistics of what they say is the ever growing waist line of the world?
