Yes, very much so, I was very proud of myself and my faith. Not a whole lot has changed. I am still proud of my choices in life, including my time as a Witness, after all, all the days from my birth to today, make up ME and I like the ME I am very much.

Is it me or has the WTS gotten worse?
by Lady Lee ini've been out of the jws for the last 20 years.
i remember when...the wts prided its self on having khs that were humble, practical and were't a showy displaythe wts was as militant as they are now.the elders weren't as cruel to their ownthe wts wasn't always puttong their hands in the r&f's pocket and demanding money.the conventions actually cared about the needs of the r&f by providing food and not making a bunch of rules about where they could eat and what they could put under the seat.. am i remembering things differently?
has the society gotten worse?

It's a matter of perspective, your not in the organization anymore, so you notice things more and things seem more extreme. When in reality, you probably thought the same stuff was normal when you were among the organization. Kind of reminds me of what people say when they quit smoking.

Are humans more animal like then we admit?
by free2beme inas an experiment, i dare anyone to go out on to the street and make eye contact with someone.
not just for a few seconds, i mean, look at their eyes and don't stop as they walk closer and pass by.
i would bet, that a large percentage of the men would ask you what your problem is, and ask you if you have a problem with them.

well, we aren't vegetables or minerals, so that would leave animal
..but we want to think we are so much more, then you see us in times of panic, stress or high group emotion, and we look like a heard of sheep running off the cliff with no one having enough common sense to say STOP!

Slap one cheek, turn and kick their @%$!
by free2beme ini remember the whole, "slap one cheek and turn and let them slap the other", philosophy we were taught as witnesses.
i was wondering how others felt about this and how far you left it behind.
i know people will sometimes have that humble personality that allows things to role off them, while others are more prone to fight the fine fight.

I remember the whole, "slap one cheek and turn and let them slap the other", philosophy we were taught as Witnesses. I was wondering how others felt about this and how far you left it behind. I know people will sometimes have that humble personality that allows things to role off them, while others are more prone to fight the fine fight. What life has taught me, is not so much the idea that you should let them slap the other cheek, but don't allow yourself to be in a position that allows all the slapping in the first place. Meaning, if someone is known for treating people bad, leave them alone and have nothing to do with them. If you have friends who treat you will disrespect, get new friends. Then if someone does, figuratively, slap you down. Don't be quick to fight back, as I have yet to see a fight that ends that simple. Always think first, "Is this worth it" or better yet "Is the other person worth it." I remember once when I was young, a guy slept with a girl who said she was used and drunk. I wanted to get a baseball bat and beat this guy to death, or at least hurt him really really bad. I was with some friends and we drove around town looking for this guy, really upset. Never found him. Not until a week or so later and we learned he actually had had sex with her before, many times, and even after the night we were so mad about. You call that GAMES! Yet what would have become of our lives if we let emotions fight our battles for us and found him, and not let things unfold the way they did? I think about that now, when I hear the thought, "if someone slaps you cheek, turn and let them slap the other," and I think I am wiser. If someone slaps your cheek, walk away and live to fight another day. Staying means your a fool who never learns. Fighting means you let your emotions lead you to much. Yet, no matter what, often life slaps back on those people worse then you ever could have, if you give it enough time.
So what are you like now, a face turner, a fighter or someone who just walks away before it gets worse?

I would be your friend, but your not important enough.
by free2beme ini love these type of people, because they are so easy to see through.
you know the type, they meet you and they're all nice and all, but because your not important enough they don't really want to be your friend.
in fact, they probably got introduced to you by someone who is important and to make that person happy they give you five minutes of conversation or maybe listen to a thought or two, and then they are off to the next person and your nothing.

Actually, I think in the work place it is far worse, as money is involved.

I'm not buying it! That people left the Witnesses and became Christians.
by free2beme ini tried it, could not swallow all the lies and misinformation they had.
i am sorry, but even if you deny the whole witness faith, there is still parts to christianity that they pointed out that you can not just ignore and act like it is okay to join another faith that is christian.
are you going to become catholic when your know their history?

Really? Are you going to become Catholic when your know their history? Are you going to become Mormon when you know their history? Honestly, I tried and all I saw was "same scene" with a "new face." Guess that is why I left Christianity all together. I don't buy that anyone actually left the Witnesses and fully became a Christian and erased all the information the Witnesses taught you. Yes, a lot of what they said was wrong, this I know. Yet I read a lot of non-Witness publications about history and other works that supported some of what they said about the problems of all Christianity. So I would be no different if I was a Witness or a Christian, both rely on ignoring a great deal of facts.
Faith is blind though, right?

As Witnesses, this was the people who were new to the congregation and trying to get in with the elders, Pioneers and sucking up to the CO. The thing is, the same thing happens in work and life away from the religion. So, do you know the type or are you this type of person?

How do you express your new freedom?
by free2beme ini was wondering how people express their new freedom and how they create new boundaries.
what i mean, is when i left the witnesses and became someone without their rules, i did not go out and do all the things i was forbidden to do before.
i did not take up drugs, sleep around, etc.

What I mean, is when I left the Witnesses and became someone without their rules, I did not go out and do all the things I was forbidden to do before. I did not take up drugs, sleep around, etc. I still see those things as an unhealthy mentally and physically. I did, however, express my freedom in other ways and some were as small as buying Christmas decor in my first year away. To others as major as hanging items in my home that reflect my pagan beliefs, and even wearing items that show this. I still have boundaries though, and I am sure others do too. I just wonder, how you express yours and what new boundaries have you recreated or created all together? I say recreated, as some have remained but evolved into a more common sense and less strict form.

Yet, if we are in God's image, what color and race is god? As the God I see in churches, and the Watchtower, was a white man and looked as American as Uncle Sam.
