I think it is a lot easier to be an inactive Mormon than an inactive JW. They may try to catch it at the outset, but then everyone seems to accept the distance. Being a Jack mormon is a bit of a disgrace, but it doesn't keep one from holidays or sunday dinner. Even excommunication is not the doom (socially) as it is in the JWs. So, the LDS church knows that there are a LOT of relatives (who do tend to stay in and associated to some degree) of their young missionaries that they will answer to-and my knowledge is that LDS folks are a lot more vocal in calling out their religious leadership than JWs who are still in. So, the church actually stands to lose great swaths of people if they screw this one up. The WT doesn't stand to lose more than a couple of missionaries-no matter how much they screw it up. Families can't stand up for their loved ones and stay in the org. Many have rejected and abandoned much of their family who doesn't cut the JW mustard. So, they know JWs will put up with unlimited amounts of crap and any that they lose will be so thoroughly cut off that no one will even know WHY.

My mother listed me as a Jehovah's Witness at the Hospital for a pending emergency surgery
by adjusted knowledge ini've been having some medical issues recently and had to check into the emgerceny hospital.
when they admitted me the registar asked my mother my religion.
she told them jehovah's witness.

Keeping in mind that the hospital was not deliberately trying to mess with you, your doctor should have noted your preference and your name should have been removed from whatever list they give to elders. You need to speak with the hospital administrators about this-not in the "I'm gonna sue" kind of mode, but in the interests of it not happening again to you or others. NO ONE but the patient should have a right to put religious information on ones intake information unless the patient is like 6 years old. The hospital liason committee or whomever needs to get schooled on the appropriate way to deal with people who are already in a traumatic situation. You don't harrass them about their religion or their medical choices. That should be out of bounds anyway! And the chaplains (often HIRED by hospital) should go to some kind of sensitivity training. That should NEVER have happened from the get-go.
I'm glad you are better. It might be a good time to remind your mom that you are not 6. If she knows you aren't really a JW, she should have respected that. If she doesn't, you might want to enlighten her.

"You are good people"
by ateograciasadios inthis story goes back 2 years, when my girlfriend and i traveled to my homecountry in south america to spend the summer visiting my family and friends.
although i was still attending the meetings back then, i had already been inactive for a while.
the developments since that visit have been slow but dramatic, and my perception of the people inside the organization has changed greatly.

Yeah, the witnesses get all the "good people" and convince them that only by ignoring all their "good" instincts and refrain from offering any kind of practical human assistance can one truly be acceptable to (their) god. Channel all your "goodness" into advertising for JW.org.

Advice about going to Meetings...................oh why didn't I listen...LOL!!!!!
by KateWild ini have been back to meetings for a month now.
prepared for them all except for when i went on holiday.. todays wt is about jehovah's organisation, it's clear loaded language and manipulation through fear.
i am not perturbed by it in the least.

So, they all get more excited to advertise JW.org than they get excited to tell folks the "good news" about Jesus or kingdom or anything. So perverse.
There is an irony. They are advertising the kingdom of the WTBTS. They have truly declared their owner and ruler and "he" is moving to Warwick!

Perfect Relationship, He Still Broke Up With Me
by tiff21390 inlast month, my best friend of four years and boyfriend of six months came home from a jehovah's witness convention.
he'd been acting strangely the entire weekend and i knew something was wrong.
i initiated a discussion and he said, "essentially our relationship is wrong and i'm not supposed to be with you.

I have been in relationships that had too many parties to them before. Your ex needed to decide and he still hasn't-and you are the one who has been paying the price.
You are well rid of him, as sad as that seems to you now. Because of the romantic and emotional complications and agony, you need to go cold turkey and cut it off. NO, you cannot be friends. You can't invite him to your wedding someday, you can't call him if you are in jail or a car accident. This is not to be cruel to either of you, but to protect you from his emotionally jacking you around. Which is what he has been doing. Its not perfect and you need to understand that it never was. He has a double life and you were his dirty little secret. Been there, done that. Don't demean yourself in that way now that you found him out.
If HE goes to jail and calls you, it would be mean to leave him hanging, so of course, you would call his nearest spiritual leader to offer him the support he needs in a crisis.

That it is so close could be an innocent coincidence. . . or IS it??? (as my daughter would say :) ) That they are so bent on re-branding themselves in the internet age leads toquestions. . . but seriously, if Jews wanted a conspiracy to make money, isn't the WTS kind of small potatoes? And a lot of trouble to administer? Those folks are a PITB. Don't the poor Jews have enough grief?

Is their a new holocaust in the making ? Are jews being made the scapegoats again ?
by smiddy inmass immigration in the world "seems" to have led to a rise in anti -semitism in the west.
france now has more than six million muslims.. germany now has four million muslims.
the netherlands has almost one million muslims .
-
JWdaughter
I don't know what you consider to be an "islamist" but most MUSLIMS are not out killing Jews, nor do Muslim as a rule hate Jews. Considering the numbers, if that was the goal, there would not be any Jews left in the world. That there are not very MANY Jews left in the world can be chalked up to people in Christian lands.
There are 14 million Jews in the world and 1.6 billion Muslims. Even accounting for gross incompetence, that would be pretty do-able if that was the goal. It is not! Considering the Jews among my own family, I'm grateful for that personally.

Said from the platform: "You are not surviving Armaggedon if you are spiritually weak"
by Daniel1555 intoday i was at the meeting (i go there about once a month now).
in the service meeting they had a part where they interviewed the secretary of the congregation.. so one question was: "why are the service reports so important?".
our secretary explained that the reports are important, because the elders can see, who is spiritually weak.
-
JWdaughter
Jeez. Jesus called 70-not EVERYONE. Paul visited congregations and he was not telling them about how to get their hours in. They're so full of BS that we should send the org (and that elder) toilet brushes.

I doubt that many people find that many attractive young householders in a year of pioneering and certainly not that many people opening the door in one morning. Where is his partner?
Its a cute video. He is just deluded and young. He will start clueing in soon enough. Keep him in your kind thoughts. Someday he will cringe thinking about this video.
