  GUESS WHAT HAPPENED TO ME TODAY!

  i cannot believe what i saw happen today at the store.. i was at wal-mart browsing various electronics and digital cameras and such, when i heard behind me, "brother hardy, how are you!"...

  first thing i thought was oh shit, they found me, and forgot my real name, or have me mixed up with someone else.. turns out, this disfellowshiped witness was there at the store and saw one of his congregation members there.

  now i personally have never been part of the shunning process myself, but here i am, an ex-jw watching from the other aisle, a bunch of shit that i never thought i would see the lights of day on.... the brother, this "hardy" i guess, looked up at the man with a smile, but then when he realized who it was, he immediately frowned and started pushing his shopping cart away looking straight ahead and not even acknowledging the man... (here's where i jump in..).

  Butters certainly can tell a colorful account. Rarely boring, often causing me to wince at least slightly. Interesting what you see in a Walmart. We have one opening in our town soon, I will have to hang out!

  A surprise at McDonald's

  this morning while i was waiting in line to get a cup of coffee a gentleman in a suit approched the counter and gave the girl behind the counter the new tract and said that he is taking part in a world wide distribution of an important message then handed the tract to the lady and walked away.

  the girl looked puzzled and promptly put the tract in the garbage can without even looking at it.

  the jw got in his car and took off down the road toward the interstate.. two obervations.

  This is so NOT what Jesus was talking about when speaking of witnessing or going from house to house. Further proof of how the WTS has perverted the message of Christ.

  BTW, was the good news that false religion would soon be destroyed???? I DON'T THINK SO!!

  Someone went to a JW 'memorial' and realized that if the WT society version of a funeral was all that JWs are getting, there was NOTHING memorable about it. Nothing about the deceased. They realized that the only way a JW could have anything about THEM was to pay for it, cause the religion did not give a rats behind. SO, these people, who are paying attention, thought they could start an entreprenurial enterprise and perhaps make some money at it. Probably not JWs though, or they would understand the total lack of sentiment in the group. Doubt they are making any money at it, but I think I understand where the notion came from.

  hey everybody, i had an interesting time pushing a tract that i don't believe in this weekend.

  i had to develop my own method of placing it without having to talk about it, since i fear if i was confronted by someone asking "do you people think you're the only true religion", i might break down and tell the person at the door "no, i don't".

  the witness at the door with me would scream in terror, and i would be insta-dfed.

  hammurabi, a great king of the babylonians was a great lawgiver.

  some of his laws were pretty humane and he set in place in babylon a legal system with judges, lawyers etc and some pretty advanced for its time, laws protecting women and children from abuse.. he claimed to have received his laws from the top of a mountain engraved in stone!.

  he claimed this 500 years before moses did and to be honest, his laws were pretty much more humane, though still not overthrowing a life for a life, he was able to set in place compensation system which meant people of babylon were not after eachothers lives anymore for misdemeanours but could claim compensation from the courts.

  I am and have always been socially inadequate. Not sure how much is innate and how much I can attribute to upbringing/parents/religion. I know that my vague(not psychotic or anything) paranoia is strictly JW related. Comes from always being afraid of being who you really are, saying what you really think, wearing what you really WOULD if it were acceptable. Being afraid that someone will see the 'real' me. Because the real me isn't really acceptable. Its been really 20+ years since I left, I really ought to get over it.

  I was invited to a work friends Halloween party (for the first time in my life. . .) I have NO idea if I am brave enough to go to a party that isn't a relatives or a person trying to get me to buy into their sales parties (body shop, tupperware). I feel very socially retarded(in the truest sense, not the rude/casual way that the word is used). Not sure if I am brave enough to even go.

  Tactless Dubs

  is it me or do dubs have no clue how to be tactful and pretty much just spew whatever is on their minds??

  i used to work out of my home, doing medical transcription, with a newborn next to me and two in school.

  the car groups used to stop at my house unannounced to use the bathroom and would wander around my house examining my stuff and my cleaning job.

  Oh, come on people, these are the same folks that come to your door on the weekends, waking you up, lie and tell you they are just asking their neighbors questions-and then put down your religious beliefs, attack the lifestyles and religion of others and lie and say they are interested in seeing if you would like a 'Bible' study. These are people who go on record in newspapers saying they 'aren't trying to change anyones religion, they just want to share truths from the Bible". Tactless YES, but what can one expect? These are people that will turn their backs on their children or parents if they decide not to follow the religious organization. . .Tactlessness is the least of the issues!

  Consider yourself vitually hugged! I am in awe of what you have overcome to escape. You are a hero. I hope you continue in all the good things you are doing for your physical, mental and emotional health. Continue associating with those who love and support you. You must be such a strong person, and you now have such personal power to have overcome and thrived. Wow.

  I am so sorry that you were treated so poorly by all those that should have loved you the most and cared for you. That they didn't was a reflection of them and their values-now shown to be without any true worth or value. I wish all of us could just hug you for real-you have been deprived of the love and support that all deserve. Please value yourself. You only know what is possible if you are here to try! Blessings and good wishes to you.
