Burial of human remains requires legal documentation. Even if the WTS chose not to erect headstones or markers of any kinds, they would have most certainly have needed to fill out the paperwork before dumping Rutherford in an unmarked grave. All burial records must legally be stored in State records repositories and would therefore very likely be accessible to the public. Bottom line, if Rutherford is there, there is legal documentation of it somewhere, unless Knorr and Franz donned hooded cloaks one night and dumped the carcass in a hole in the middle of the night.....which is very unlikely. The church itself would also be required to document each and every internment on its property or risk losing its licensure.

"He has become a little to fanactical about it in my opinion".
Fanatical? LMAO !!! Writing books and expressing one's opinions is being a "fanatic"?
Do you think Dawkins is the one strapping bombs on his chest and blowing up civillians, assassinating abortion doctors or trying to prevent the teaching of scientific facts in public schools in the name of some fictional deity? Give yourself a reality check.

ARE YOU RELIGIOUS BECAUSE YOU'RE AFRAID OF DEATH?
by Dansk ini've been thinking about the above question a lot lately!
i see so many so-called religious people being hypocritical to the religion they profess to have faith in.
they may say "hey, i'm only human", as if this excuses their behaviour.

"I want to get back to the question of dissassociating "religion" from "reward". No human being undertakes any activity without any hope of reward."
Unfortunately, they cannot be dissociated. Even buddhists, while not evisioning cherubs with harps in the clouds, still cling to the belief in reincarnation, demonstrating the original point: all religious philosophies offer an escape clause of immortality, regardless of the form such immortality takes. It boils down to a simple motivation: avoid mortality. I challenge you to present evidence of a single organized religion that does not provide this psychological anesthetic.
I agree, all human behaviour is motivated, either via physiological drives or psychological drives. Still, the rewards pursued by an indiviual seeking to avoid mortality by worshipping some deity that promises some eternal paradise-like existence cannot be compared to normal, everyday motivations of human beings. I pursue my career in order to pay my bills and have reasonably comfortable life in the reality of the here and now. I also enjoy making a difference in this life, in this moment. I entertain no illusions about my mortality nor do I even remotely desire some form of eternal existence. This life is enough and I dont have enough ego or arrogance to think that my existence should somehow magically be extended for eternity. I am responsible for my own legacy and what I choose to do with the time I have remaining, fully aware that this existence is not a dress rehearsal.

Chicken, the Egg?, Creationist, the Evolutionist?
by skyking inthe thread re: did fossils make you doubt?
makes me laugh at the creationist because they have the same hurdle to over come as does the evolutionist do.
for the creationist can you tell me how god came from nothing?
-

You raise some excellent points.
The creationist cannot use the old "something from nothing" canard without having the same criticism levelled at them. The typical response is "god just is" and had no beginning and no end. However, this has zero evidence to back it up and even worse, this ALSO kills the classic "design" argument of the creationist because if every "complex" entity in the universe had to have had a "designer", well most certainly, "god" who in their estimation is the supreme example of intelligence and complexity must have ALSO had a designer!
Ergo, who "designed" god?

Is worship of God...
by kerj2leev in...natural?.
i mean if you weren't taught it would you be doing it, or even wondering about it?.

What is natural is the tendency for the human brain to try to make sense of the sensory information constantly entering our cerebral cortex.
Cognitive modules need to structure information in the most logical format, this is particularly true of information that is higly emotionally charged.
Imagine our primordial ancestors faced with the terror of nature, but lacking basic scientific methods or information to place this input in its proper context.
Whats the most logical explanation to the brain of primordial h. sapiens? Supernatural "beings" causing these natural events. From the perspective of evolutionary
cognitive neuroscience, it makes perfect sense that such ideas would have occurred in primitive man, and, with the advent of organized culture, that such ideas
would become intrinsic to the cultural ethos within that particular environment. Furthermore, religious rituals would soon evolve as mans attempt to control the natural
world by appeasing the gods. Even though these attempts have failed for the last several hundred thousand years, these primordial instincts still exist within the minds
of many modern humans.

The religious folk seem to be implying that the prospect of a "reward" of eternal life as a result of worshipping their god is simply incidental to their belief system.
If that is the case, I would ask the religious, would you still make an effort to follow the teachings of your god or prophet if it was explicitely stated in your holy book that there is NOT a reward at the end of the tunnel and that indeed, this life really IS all there is. What motivation would you have under those circumstances?
Would you not simply be happy to live your life as a human being, without ascribing any elements of your fate or fortune to supernatural forces?
What would be the purpose of following a particular religious philosophy if there was no pie in the sky waiting for you at the end?
Is it really just coincidence that every single religious brand on the face of the earth offers an "escape" clause of immortality to the followers?

"My fear would be that the
liberalsuninformed persons in my community will be ennamored with this company since it is British, and not see what the big picture is."Yup. XJW has it all figured out! We godless liberal commies are planning to take over the US by infiltrating your communities with British supermarkets! As you know, ALL liberals have a penchant for ANYTHING British! We all drink tea, eat kippers, listen to the Beatles....its all a cunning plan to take over the world, one Marks & Spencer's at a time!
Thankfully we have brilliant neo-con bush voters like XJW to protect god's america from this nefarious liberal scheme !!!!!

"That I may make a reply to him that is taunting me"
by under_believer inso for our "congregation book study", we are still deeply mired in the bible teach book.
this week's lesson talks about the whole idea that the book of job relates the central issue of the entire cosmos, a vital issue raised by satan, where satan questions whether humans follow god because of what they are given, or because he deserves it.
i'm surprised that the book of job, obviously archetypal and figurative (for example, i doubt people back then literally spoke for hours in hebrew verse, and i doubt that four messengers showed up all in a row with stories telling that they, only they, got away to tell of a disaster) even has a place in the canon; aside from its lack of any specific historical position or accuracy, the argument it advances (especially as the society interprets it) is facile: the idea that privileged, wealthy, powerful job somehow stands as a representative for all humanity and serves as a litmus test for man's interaction with god is downright silly.

Angels & Sexual urges..
by tan ini was reading another thread and wondered why it was that the perfect angels began to have sexual urges???
i also wondered if the resurrected ones were not to procreate why a loving god would put them on the earth to tease them.
jthey're going to be perfect too, will they eventually have these urges too, just to be destroyed when it's all said and done.
-
kid-A
The Resurrected will have the anatomical features of a Ken and Barbie doll, since surely Jehoobie would not have the inclination to recreate all the sinful bits and pieces belonging to the "wicked system of things".....Remember, eventually the "paradise" earth will be completely full of dubs, thus, nobody will need to procreate anymore and we can forever say goodbye to our satanic sexual urges! LOL
