  Whats your point, LT? Who appointed you the judge and jury over the definition of a "christian"....What a profoundly arrogant smugness is revealed in this attitude! And you think I'm being judgemental??? Have you personally interviewed all 6 million JWs and found that each and everyone of them fails your "litmus" test for what defines christianity? Better yet, can you point out where exactly Christ provided clear-cut "guidelines" for determining who is and who is not a "Christian"? Wow.....I'm pretty shocked by your attitude. We've all been screwed by the Watchtower but I'm not so self-righteous as to declare that every single JW fails the definition of being "Christian" based upon my own, self-defined "criteria" for what constitutes a christian denomination.

After the radio wave is generated (e.g. starting Energy level or E=1) then the resulting flame of 3,000 degrees burns the fuel until it no longer exists (E=1+1+1+1+1.....). So the overall released energy is greater than the starting energy or for that matter the energy that derived from fossil/hydro-electric or other energy that fed out to the radio wave device.   What about 7th Day Adventists? Are they christians? What about Mormons? Reformed Lutherans? Lithuanian Orthodox? Jews for Jesus?

  Sorry folks, but like it or not, the JWs are just another sect within Christendom. They may have a bizarre spin on it, but they are a brand of christianity nonetheless. All ex-JWs have done when joining another christian denomination is switch to a different "style" of christianity.

  Planning Trip To DragonCon In Atlanta; any suggestions . . .

  appreciated regarding other atlanta attractions that you've personally "endured" or enjoyed.

  after squandering yet another perfectly lovely holiday weekend glued to the computer, and doing housework and laundry, i've decided to plan a sojourn to atlanta, georgia for labor day weekend.

  my observations and experience of this city have been limited to airport layovers, and i never really thought about visiting.. i'm excited about dragoncon, but even more excited about touring atlanta for a weekend, especially after checking out its attractions via the internet.

  The big party scene is in Buckhead. There's even a few risque bars.

  I had heard that too, but I was at a huge conference in Atlanta last year and stayed in Buckhead....the place was dead, dead, dead! I have no idea where they moved the good clubs, but the only fun I had were at private house parties.

  I have had the good fortune to visit several famous churches, including the Vatican, Notre Dame, Sacre Couer, and quite a few in Canada in Montreal and Toronto. Catholic and Anglican cathedrals are always aesthetically pleasing, to atheist and believer alike.....since I was not religious at all when I first attended one of these churches, I simply experienced a deep reverence for the breathtaking artwork and architecture.

  As ex-JWs we are used to going to a "church" that resembles the waiting room at Jiffy Lube, so I think any ex-JW would at first be in awe of these structures.

  the bible explains that adam and eve were created human and because they had eaten from the tree of knowledge good and evil, they became almost like god and the angels.- gen 3:22-24. they knew the difference between good and bad, which the rest of the animals did not.

  god kicked them out of the garden of eden to keep them from eating from the tree of life and becoming immortal- just like god.

  if they had been able to get to the tree of life, they could have lived forever.

  I fail to see the relevance of this to any of the questions raised by Moshe. What "gods" perception was is irrelevant, the principal "actors" of the story are "Adam and Eve", in terms of the choices they made, only their perception of the environment would be relevant. And by the accounts own words, they could not have known that their "choice" was sinful, since they had no conception of "good and evil" until after eating from the tree. Essentially, it was a set-up, with Adam and Eve playing "god's "patsies".

  "I believe He created man in need of a savior from the beginning. I believe He felt that a human in need of God was a very good thing."

  So you admit he deliberatly created "man" as defective and in misery, in order to fulfill the whole "saviour" drama? Any logical reason why a supposedly supremely intelligent being would do something so ridiculous and illogical? As for your latter hypothesis, if you had children, would you want them to worship you like a sycophant, and constantly be in need, as opposed to well-developed, mature, self-sufficient and self-actualized beings? What does it say about the personality of a being that is so hopelessly insecure as to require constant ego gratification and ass-kissing from his "created" sub-ordinates?

  All excellent points.

  For me the most glaringly absurd premise of this fable is, how could they be held morally or ethically responsible for eating from the tree of knowledge of "good and evil" if they had no understanding or knowledge, a priori, of what "good and evil" even was? How can one be held accountable for a moral transgression if one has no awareness or comprehension of what even constitutes a "good" versus "evil" decision or course of action? The entire premise is inherently illogical.

  Make up: Love it or loathe it?

  i have just gotten around to taking off last nights trowelling and what a relief that is!

  i rarely wear make up - maybe once a month, so i probably go over board.

  i feel like my skin just suffocated for 24 hrs.. what do you love or loathe about make up?
