  sorry if this has come up before but i'm new and it only just occurred to me.

  we all remember (or still see regularly, joe-help-you) those wt illustrations of people living happily in a paradise on earth, cavorting peacefully with the animals.

  everyone is dressed like retired wasps (no offense to retired wasps intended).

  I remember the old "paradise lost" book, you know, the pink one? I distinctly recall an illustration of a naked Adam and Eve, but there bits and pieces were covered with fig leaves or some other such natural censorship....nevertheless, I do recall that Eve had been drawn with a pretty hot bod!

  I have personally never comprehended the logic behind this. So they use gods name...to quote Adam Sandler "Well whoop-dee-doo",

  First, Jehovah is not gods name, it is a horribly mangled "english" pronunciation of the original hebrew word "yaweh". We might as well

  call him "bob" for that matter, but I guess "bob's witnesses" lacks some of the cachet of "jehovahs witnesses".

  Its refreshing to see somebody proactively seeing the logical flaws in the WT theological teachings before

  getting in too deep. I think to politely back out merely requires either 1) being persistent yet gentle

  in trying to get satisfactory answers from the JWs for the excellent questions you raised (you will

  soon realize they have no real answers to these issues) or 2) continue to come up with excuses about

  being too busy, avoiding the studies, totally non-confrontational but they will eventually get the point that

  you have genuinely lost interest.

  "Tear Down the Watchtower Day!"

  after surviving what has been a rather depressing week, an idea suddenly came to me.

  after being born and raised in the loathsome cult that is the watchtower, i was deprived of many things, including without limitation all holidays and the accompanying joy that goes with them.

  as an adult, i've been celebrating all the traditional "worldly" holidays, but although i enjoy and appreciate them, i've noticed that there's something missing.

  too much! Next on the list, Judge Booze Rutherfords death, on January 8? I think this date is pretty much open?!

  50 years from now, How will The Watchtower Change?

  do you think that the watchtower organisation will still be in existence 50 years from now?.

  if it is still around, will there still be thousands left of the annoited, partaking each year at the memorial?.

  how will the watchtower have to change in the next half century?

  I think they will certainly still exist, but with unrecognizable doctrines from today...just like the evolution since 1879.

  Fundametally, they are a profitable corporation with millions if not billions in real estate holdings and other investments. They

  will greatly expand the membership in 3rd world/developing countries while dwindling greatly in the european and north american

  environments. Ultimately, they will survive in some form. Even the original "Russelites" still exist as the "Dawn Bible Students".

  Even if membership dwindles in more affluent countries, they will likely remain highly profitable by expanding the publishing

  in developing countries. Their real estate holdings will only INCREASE in value over time, so they can easily afford a hit

  in membership.

  when i was at bethel during the 80's japan was the darling of the society, gb lyord barry, used to brag about their zeal all the time and dog us in the west-.

  they set and all time record of all 100-200 consective peaks in pub and growth, then all of a sudden the bottom fell out, what do you think happend.

  i do recall barry mentioning that their culture is one that makes them good follers.

  Witness Kids SUCK

  i just got home from a dub "party".

  it was very tame, seemed to be choreographed, and i was just shocked.. for one thing, everyone there was my age or older.

  these people are young adults.. yet, it felt like the jr. high dance.

  I can only speak for the old Toronto scene, but christ, we used to have some wild parties! I recall at least 3 that ended with the police showing up. There was an inordinate number of toronto JW kids into the punk-alternative scene and this was always reflected in the music and dancing (I remember some awesome slam dancing at some of those jw parties!) Its hard to believe it looking back...how the hell did we get away with it? I do recall though hearing from some old american JW friends that the dub parties in the states were way tamer then the ones in canada (at least ontario)....those were some of the VERY few good memories I actually have being a teen-age dub...

  The life of Ray Franz would make an incredibly compelling documentary...it would appeal way beyond the ex-dub community, its a genuine human interest story...I doubt the "Knocking" producers will even be mentioning Rays name in their pro-borg documentary coming to PBS.

  gris-baldi will be inviting us all to his disfellowshipping party since its only a matter of time until one of his fellow

  jehovah-flunkies figures out he has been posting here and rats him out to the "proper spiritual authorities" !
