would someone still mistake you for a witness?
Absolutely! Here is my recent "employee of the month" portrait!!
i really feel like i got punk'd!
so, punk'd, that i messed up my family!
all because i thought they knew better than me!
I think of it as a "mind virus", I mean, I would'nt hate somebody for giving me a cold.....
i know what i was taught from the witnesses in the book evolution or creation, but is this an accurate portrayal of what evolutionists believe?
is it really that black or white?
evolution, meaning that god didn't have a plan, things just happened, or creation, god created adam, the first man?
but I feel sad that you have no faith in God
I feel sorry for you that you believe in a god. I believe in reality and the wonders of the natural world and the existence of a fictional deity would add nothing to the wonders that I observe everyday, all around me, in a wonderful, fascinating and challenging godless universe. To me, belief in a god is the same as believing in the Tooth fairy, Peter the rabbit, Santa claus, the giant pumpkin or Bugs Bunny. The lack of real evidence for any of these fairy tales applies equally to all.
the received wisdom is that the internet has dramatically damaged the ability of the watchtower society to gain and retain followers.
there was a very eloquent article to that effect written some time ago by a commentator who attempted to buttress his argument with reference to the postmodern condition and the breakdown of metanarratives in todays secular society, nay, even the come-back for enlightenment notions of truth.
in the 1970/80s there were major challenges to the watchtowers theology (great crowd in heaven) and chronology (1914) in norway, alberta canada, dublin ireland and in the newyork bethel itself: but the damage caused by those involved in the dissent was limited because knowledge was dispersed merely through personal contact and minimal use of obscure publications that seldom met the eyes of witnesses innocent of the watchtowers doctrinal and chronological vacillations in any case.
You are living in the fantasy world of the Watchtower, brother. But even the Watchtower has enough brains to realize what a huge threat the internet has been to their little cult. They are actively sueing apostate sites and are on a huge anti-internet campaign both in their literature and in public conventions warning the droids to avoid the internet. Baptisms are DOWN DOWN DOWN and frankly, it makes no difference if this is directly attributable to the internet or not, the WTS is rotting from the inside out: the young are leaving, the old are dying and Millions once living are now DEAD.
to answer a few ?'s.
yes i have trivialized a lot, but i'm healing so well.
i was just waiting to explode with exploration of all types of spiritualty that secretly fascinated me.i know i was df'd, i was just surprised i didn't get a chance to appeal, i had a great letter waiting.
there is a fine line between being objective and apostate
A classic JW line!!! It just blows my mind these words could actually come out of a human beings mouth!! LOL
i have only been here a couple of weeks, and while i find most of you to be kindhearted, understanding and supportive, i can't help but get the feeling that there are some of us who are not who they say they are.
i'm not trying to be presumptuous, but do you think some people pretend to be x-witnesses just to mess with us?
I usually find that the "trolls" are pretty bold when it comes to defending the WTS. Then you have a sub-population of religious loonies that keep predicting the end of the world, blah blah blah....and usually post under multiple names....e.g. Elijah, Brown Boy, Estephan Leuse....LOL
anyone have any real information if the great exodus has begun?
tickle my ears-
If you don't mind, I'll keep it for my computer background.lol
LOL....I would like to paste it into a "Seasons Greetings Card" and send it out to all my JW relatives!!! LOL....but I just wouldnt have the heart! LOL

When is the soonest we will be able to see 2005 figures?
I dont even have access to the magazines anymore but I am curious to see those stats too. A related question would be, if the numbers look really horrible, will the WTS fudge the statistics to hide the steep decline from the R+F?

This year's Watchtower statistics shows very similar trends seen in the previous several years: plateauing in most developed countries in Europe, North America, and Japan, while continuing the steady growth in most of the African, South American countries, and those in the former Soviet Union. The number of those countries with negative or zero growth has increased from seven in 2003 to 22 in 2004.
The list of countries with zero or negative growth in 2004:
Australia, Austria, Belgium, Britain, Canada, Czech, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Hongkong, Hugary, Italy, Japan, The Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Romania, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland, USA.
While there are minor ups and downs, these overall trends in those so-called developed conutries seem to be very stable for close to one decade. If there is any small gain, that can be easily explained by the general population growth.
