did you listen to the kingdom songs on CD?

just wondering if anyone else had the collection of kingdom melodies on tape or cd and if you ever listened to them?i ordered the whole set of 9 cds 2 yrs ago and donated over 100.00 for them!

!was just thinking i could have bought a nice winter coat with that!i used to play them at home all the time, even in the car or when we had the group meeting at our house.i used to love one particular song cos it had a full orchestra and would play it over and over again.some of them were pretty cheesy though - one song was sung in opera style but not the words she she 'ahd' it all the way through - horrible!was anyone else as sad as me and did you actually pay for them?i regret it now cos they're all in the attic and can't bear to use them ever again..

Had 'em on cassette. They only ever were played when other Witnesses were coming over for book study or something though.

The rest of the time, we were playing the Hooked on Jazz, Disco Duck, or Mickey Mouse Disco albums.

You know, I have nothing to hide either. But just suppose your government decides that something you do, innocently enough to you, is illegal.

I don't know about you, but whether I'm engaging in illegal activity or not, I don't want someone watching over my shoulder every move I make.

How about you test it out. Ask your mother to walk behind you, watching everything you do, for a month or more, every day. I don't know about you, but that creeps me the hell out!

You really feel that way? If this is a common enough feeling across the pond, then I'm afraid the state of affairs there is worse than I'd imagined.

we could fill a statium and pass out literature with instructions how to excape the jws mind control and fear of the world ending.

we could sit and laugh and chat druing the session, then at lunch time we could find the jws standing on the corner selling magazines it could be a lot of fun...

not necessarily according to jw terms or timetable, but at some point it happens in your lifetime.

would any of you return to the jws?.

i have been reading here for a while but as you may of noticed the assembly games post has flushed me out!

it has been fascinating to read all your experiences and to know that the stuff that i thought was odd, was thought odd by others as well.. two things made me leave:.

1. i found i could not do return visits as i did not want to break up families.

OMG Trev in hospital now!

trev (dedpoet) experienced breeathing difficulties during the night, and i had to call for an emergency ambulance.

he was kept in overnight, and is still there under observation.

he was conscious and breathing normally when i left him around 30 minutes ago, having been breathing through an oxygen mask earlier.

Did demons ever really rape some sisters?

i had a conversation last night with someone and we were reminescing about the late 60's and early 70's about how a couple of the sisters were telling at the time that they were being molested and sometimes raped by demons.

in our cong they were told to open the bible to a certain scripture and leave the bible open to it at all times and leave a light on.

anyone else remember some of this paranoia?

There was an elder's wife at our Hall, who claimed a presence came to her, even when her husband was in bed with her. She claimed to be overwhelmingly attracted to it, and couldn't stop it from using her body to satisfy its desires. They later discovered that the grandmother, who stayed upstairs, "dabbled in spiritism" gasp! After they got rid of Grandma and her stuff, the visitations stopped. Elderette became pregnant, and the child (unfortunately) was unmistakably hubby's.

Wow, that is classic.

To be a Nice Apostate or a Mean Apostate.....

..... that is the question.. how do you react - and is it a 'planned reaction', when confronted with jdubs in public?.

i have personally determined that i will not allow people whom i knew for 40 years in some cases to 'shun' me without a cost to the reputation of their religion in the eyes of those who see it.. if i come face to face with a witness who turns the other way or rudely brushes past [as if i am dead], i will point out to all in the area [carefull not to appear the raving lunatic] that this is the way jehovah's witnesses act toward one who has quietly left their faith.

i expect two things will begin to happen as a result.. 1- witnesses will become so paranoid of the possiblility of meeting me and being embarrassed in public, that they will alter their schedules to avoid the places i might be.

I have decided to approach them with a big cheery smile and ask how they ARE---it's been AGES since we've talked, etc.

I think that is a fantastic way to approach it! Make sure your smile genuinely touches the eyes.

*shrug* I treat them like I'd treat anyone else I meet on the street... smile politely, shake hands if appropriate, small talk, etc.

I'm rather sure I'm all but forgotten by most of them.
