  What if the US loses?

  what if we lose the war with iraq?

  i watch the news and all commentators act as if our winning is a given.

  yes, we are the biggest, baddest nation; we have the nukes, but what if?

  How US (and everyone else) loses war:

  US attacks Iraq

  Iraq attacks Israel (who has said it won't hold back this time like '91)

  Israel responds, pissing off all Arab the countrys. They join the fray.

  Iraq responds with chemical/Bio weapons on Israel and US.

  US responds with nukes on Iraq and Iran (they're in the war now)

  Pakistan figures "well if they can use nukes so can we". Hits India

  India responds.

  N. Korea takes advantage of the situation and invades S. Korea.

  Us Hits N. Korea with nukes.

  China comes to their aid, also figuring this is a good time to take back Taiwan.

  Now we've got to "protect Taiwan from China (Nukes?)

  Russia see the chance to take the Middle East oil fields they need so bad.

  US and it's allies are now at war with Russia, China, and the Middle Eastern bloc.

  While trying to protect Taiwan and S. Korea, the Russions help the Arabs try to take out Israel.

  Now we're protecting the Israeli's, maybe Pakistan, S. Korea, maybe Turkey and Taiwan.

  Meanwhile the terrorists are having a field day back in the States and Western Europe.

  Nukes are flying everywhere, people are dying everywhere from Bio. and chemical weapons.

  Anarchy, death, horrible illnesses etc. prevails throughout the world.

  You take it from there. This is not an unthinkable scenario.

  it is really outstanding the transformation of persons who were associated with jws from neutral subjects to outright warmongers, especially those who used to profess brotherhood with christ.

  while everyone is entitled to their opinions on matters of world politics, but to foster and promote bloodshed and destruction in the name of peace and pre-emptive defense runs jarringly against the grain of anything called christian.. .

  Legal question

  i work in a business that sometimes has teenagers purchasing or renting items from us.

  when they do so, we have to have a parent or legal guardian make the arrangements or sign any binding agreements.

  if we didn't, nothing would be worth the paper it was written on, as people under 18 can not enter into a legal arrangement on their own.. .

  The bottom line is that if someone doesn't want to speak or socialise with you they can't be forced to do so; disfellowshipped or not. Of course they are legally obligated to conduct business with you on the job, but wouldn't be required to be nicey-nice.

  I surely wouldn't want someone to be legally forced to socialise or chit-chat with me if they didn't want to; what would it accomplish? If someone doesn't want to talk to me I sure as hell don't want to try and make them.

  today i had my jeep towed into the shop..i dreaded the ride in with the driver (im extremly shy).

  but we ended up haveing a great conversation about what vehicle i should buy next.. what a perfect person to ask cuz of his job.

  he said "dont get another jeep they roll too easy and they catch on fire.".

  Can owning/reading apostate material get me DF'ed?

  hello, first time poster, long time reader.. i was wondering just what my title asks.

  if i own/read/admit to apostate material, can that get me df'ed?.

  i know better then to admit that i believe the apostate material to the elders, or that i disagree with the society's teachings, but will simply admitting to owning and reading them get me df'ed?.

  This is one of, if not the biggest reason that the WTS is not Gods organization. There should be nothing to fear from reading any disenting information. The more you read, the more you know. The Creator gave us a brain to discern truth from lies; all you have to do is use it. If you're the type to believe anything you read, then you need to learn how to perform basic research and keep an oprn mind. The GB wants you to think that they are the only ones who know what's best for you. If you choose to be led by this group of old goats, then you'll reap what you sow.

  Dateline Fitzwater Letter-"Two Witnesses

  the following is a letter written from the service department regarding the molestation of the step daughter of daniel fitzwater.

  in the dateline program daniel fitzwater was shown by correspondence from a circuit overseer to have molested 17 jw children who unfortunately did not have two eye-witnesses for each incident.

  thus brother fitzwater went to prision and remains in prision as a jw in "good standing".

  Does the WT policy about two witnesses apply to cases individually?
  Would this allow a person to molest many children at different times and yet only have one witness (the child) in each case?

  Interesting thread. Reading Fowers reply only reinterates my conclusion that religion has absolutly nothing to do with God. With few exceptions, most of the negativity about God originates with concepts originating with religion. For those "sitting on the fence" try to meditate with a completely open mind. It's difficult I know; some of that old dogma always seems to seep in. For example, the Bible doesn't have to be infallable, or even inspired for that matter, for there to be a God. There doesn't have to be baptism for there to be a God.
  If you sincerely ask for truth and evidence, (not the "OK god if you're there talk to me" type asking) the Creator will show Him/Herself to you in His/Her own way.

  DO EVEN DIE HARD JWs REALLY THINK THE END IS NEAR

  after reading a couple of posts about the growing apathy among the r&f jws today i was reminded of the years following 1975 when the dropout rate was growing rapidly and the "faithful" die hards took it as a sign that the "end" was really really near since the winnowing process was removing so much chaff.

  keep in mind that this was over 25 years ago.

  it's been mentioned before but it is worth repeating that, no matter what is happening, religious fanatics(jws) always see it as a sign from god.

  Do a web search on "end times", "rapture", "last days", "end of the world" or countless other such phrases. You will find that JW's are far from unique in such beliefs. In fact there are many non-religious people holding the same view.
