Very good. Simple and accurate explanation, at least it seems so to me (although I`m no expert on this). I have a lot of respect for Buddhism. It must by far be the most peaceful of all the religions.

I just remembered something funny. Back in 1994, they were arranging the winterolympics in my hometown in Norway, Lillehammer. And of course (LoL, this is so funny), it sparked speculations at our local congregation. "Could this be the end?". "Yeah, they`re arranging the winter olympics now, big event, big event, Satan is working desperately because he knows his time is short". I don`t know what the hell they were thinking. Perhaps it was that such a big event in our small town (around 25000 inhabitants) had to be arranged by some big organisation. Who knows, maybe the UN was involved? Anyway, when I heard about that, I laughed and laughed and couldn`t stop. The world is a small place in the JW-mind.

Many europeans believed the end was coming in 1349 too (black plague). And during WW1, and definitely during WW2. Neither Katrina nor the tsunami has anything on any of these three things.
Anyway, I`m a big fan of the tv-series "Revelations" too, which just started running here in Norway. It`s great.
But it`s only fiction!

I agree with ingenious. Great questions, but try to get some sstructure to it, group them together according to the themes, or they might try to say that you`re trying to confuse them/flood them with questions and information. If they have to get into an in-depth discussion on some issues, that will have more profound effect, both on the discussion as a whole, and who knows, maybe even on themselves.

Cross or a Stake - which was it?
by KAYTEE inwe were always lead to believe, when we belonged to the jws, that jesus died on a "stake".
was this really true or did he die on a cross as all other religions appear to believe.
if it was a cross, what on earth did the jws get out of saying otherwise.

A Day for a Year
by Hellrider inthe "day for a year"-rule is the basis for some of the fundamental parts of jw-doctrine.
the 1914-date is based on the "day for a year"-rule (7 "biblical times" is 2520 days, substituting a day for a year, you get 2520 years from 607 bc - 1914 ad, blah blah, you know the routine).
the bible says a day is like a thousand years: .

Thanks all! Yeah, agreed Joelbear, they have ripped it completely out of context. Hope it wasn`t a dumb question, it`s just one of those things you have swallowed down without ever questioning why. Now that I`ve had it explained, it`s easy to see that it`s just totally retarded. Again, thanks!

However: WHERE exactly did they get this rule from? Where in the Bible does it say that a day is like a year, in the eyes of God? The Bible says a day is like a thousand years:
Psalm 90.4: For a thousand years in your sight
are like a day that has just gone by,
or like a watch in the nightand 2 Peter 3.8: But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.
...but where does the day for a year-rule come from?

What are JW's going to do with their "outdated" Rev book and Dan proph book
by booker-t ini was just wondering what is going to happen when the leaders at wt headquaters see that the revelation grand climax book and the pay attention to daniel's prophecies book all prove false.
are they going to rewrite both books and call it "new light" and somehow say that they were wrong about the beast of revelation being the un and now the un will be considered holy?
are jw's going to have to praise the un as from jehovah and jesus?
-

They`ll just change the doctrine gradually, carefully introducing "new light" in the WT-articles, little by little..("some of Jehovahs people have at times speculated in setting dates, but at that time, they didn`t have the correct understanding. However, we now bring a heart of wisdom in..." etc etc etc, blah blah blah). If they wanted to, the Wbts could make their followers believe the moon is made of swiss cheese, and Jehovah and Jesus lives there, but occasionally go on vacation to Mars, which is made of Norwegian goat cheese.
They are very talented (in a sick sort of way). And if I had their talent, boy would I be making money just like them.

What will sharks eat in the New System?
by PopeOfEruke inok so we all know the lion will lie down with the lamb in the new system.
somehow the lions's 6 inch canines will become redundant and he will suddenly get the urge to eat grass.
acutally the lion's will choose to eat mint and they will jsut remember the missing lamb flavor.

Behold, for it is written: The shalleth lay down with the...fish.
Of course, not only the teeth of the predators will have to be changed, but their entire digestion system. Carnivors, like lions, tigers (all cats), dogs and wolves, etc, have very short ...oh whats the english word...intestines? You know, the "cables" that transport the food, from the mouth to the stomach, from the stomach to the "exit place", etc. Meat is filled with fat and proteines, and have to "go thru the system" quickly. Vegetables is the opposite. It has very little proteins and fat, only carbs, and for the plant-eating animals to get enough proteines out of the food, their intestines are longer, so the food can stay in there for a long a time (and we`re not talking about just a slight difference either, the intestines of a plant-eater is many times longer than the ones of a carnivore). Humans are apes are somewhere in between, we can adjust to both, but a cat-animal would have to be changed internally (drastically), to be able to live on plants and vegetables. In its current state, it would have starved to death, if it were to only eat vegetables.
