he does not even have a degree in history, he is a professor in semittic languages, still he has now published a book (in norwegian and english, and it`s going to be translated into lots of other languages also):.

Christ and the cross

one of the things most non-jws (as in normal people) find strange about jws, is that they believe christ died on a pole, rather than on a cross.

i remember how the cross, when it would be mentioned, would be seen as almost a satanic symbol.

i never fully understood what the big deal was with the cross, because, as we read the bible at the meetings, every once in a while we`d stumble across the word "cross" in the bible (the nwt wasn`t translated to norwegian until some time after 1990, i think, so i never saw it the time i was in).

i have not been in contact with jws since around 1988. i initially got out at the age of 15 in 1987, then there was some back-and-forth-crap, i went to some meetings, but then i was thru, in 1988. the only contact after that was one time, in 1989, when my grandmother died (she was a jw), and the service was held at kh.

anyway, the point here is: it was new to me that the wts is in the process of moving away from the 1914-doctrine.

and moving towards a more "liberal" kind of "well,never mind what we said about 1914, we are the last generation and the signs are there"-doctrine, without even trying to define whatever that means.

michael jacksons mother was a jw, and m.j. had to go door-to-door with his mother when he was a kid.

one day they rang the bell at some big, fat guys house.

they guy was in the middle of taking a nap,and got really pissed of from being interrupted, and started yelliing at m.j. and his mother, and the guys big, mean-looking rotweiler came to the door, and joined in, barking.
