  Re-active Instead of Pro-active?

  if jw's are supposedly the 'true' religion.

  why are they re-active to issues instead of pro-active?

  in the bible, gods people were looked after and guided in many things that they simply knew nothing about- for example sanitation while in the wilderness.

  Pagan origins like using herbs and junk to treat ailments. Same as a witch doctor, medicine man, wicka witch. What do you think humans used to treat their ailments before your friendly neighbourhood pharmacy came into the picture? What do think modern medicine is based on? Aspirin for example.........from the bark of a willow tree.

  i'm planning on moving out from my jw parents house in about 7 months.

  i'm trying to start a job and i already have a little money going into it (bout 2500 dollars little) however, mainly i just wanted to really know if this was the best course of action.

  my parents are the usual jw's but i do love them, however, the pressure is just building up from all their jw reasoning and pressure and guilt trips and all that mess.

  Good to know that you are planning for your education. Take caution with your debt load on the way there. You don't want to worry about making your credit card payments, car loans, insurance etc...... Also good to have a buddy as a room mate, especially if they already know about your JW upbringing.

  Hi Daunt! I moved out when I was 18, across the country. It was very hard to be on my 'own' but definitely worth it. The regret that I had was not going to school. I decided to work instead, which I wish I had done differently. I don't know if you're planning a fade or not. Maybe your parents will take the news that you are moving out better if the reason is an education? Keep us all posted.

  At my old hall it was the sisters who would spot the newcomers and hand over their families extra copies. It was the "thing to do" to show all the brotherly love that existed in the congo. The elders & ms wouldn't even speak to any one they didn't know.

  I spent a good week as a lurker reading everything for hours on end. I signed up and haven't been away since. I didn't have any ex-jws in my life so I'm glad to have a group of people who know what it was like to grow up as one.

  It has re-inforced my determination to stay far, far away. Also I now have some great ammo for those yearly family induced guilt trips.
