One more down the drain-marriage-divorce
by sspo ini mentioned in the past that my wife turned me in for apostasy and because of it she filed for separation ( she is too holy and spiritual to file for divorce) .she came home this afternoon and started packing a few things to move to an apartment.. i am still going to meetings but it is not enough for her, i reminded her of 1 cor 7 where it talks about a wife not leaving an unbeleiver as long as he is willing to stay with her but she says that does not apply to apostasy.
go figure!.
she is free to worship her god, i'm not stopping her but she has been blessed by the powerful gb who the witnesses exalts above god himself that tells them they have the right to leave a mate if it is spiritual endangerment.

I couldn't imagine being with the same person for 27 years. That is really bad news, I'm sorry.

How Many Here Have Ever Been Before A Judicial Committee???
by minimus ini've been on plenty of jcs but i never was the target of the elders, judicially.....although i would be now.

I've been in two that I remember but that number may be higher. Some were very traumatic and I don't really remember much about them.
Does "counselling" with only me and 3 elders count as a JC? 'Cause if it does then 2 is a very low estimate.

Do you come from a family that totally avoids talking about problems ?
by troubled mind ini do.... when i was young my mom kept us from speaking to my non witness dad about anything that might upset him .we also could not openly share our problems of being witnesses at school, like the ridicule we endured for not saying the pledge or celebrating holidays .
we had to say we were happy not having birthday parties even if that really was not true .
my husband was raised in an abusive household and must have learned some of those same lessons .

<<Dams , do you still have the feelings you are all alone ? That struck a cord with me because that is how I have felt my whole life . I'm in this game of life on my own .>>
Yes, I do. Which probably seems very sad and lonely (and it can be at times) but it's good in a way. I've become very independant, and driven to succeed at whatever I put my mind to. -

Do I ever! For generations and generations back, everyone avoids the nasty stuff because "we are all happy dammit!!"
Most telling event of my young life (and it confirmed to me that I was all alone) was when my father found out the most traumatic thing that had happened to me and the first words out of his mouth were "Don't tell your mother" -

What one thing reminds you most of being a Witness?
by free2beme inthe mind is full of all kinds of things that can trigger memories.
it could be the taste of a certain spice that reminds you of a now passed relative who liked to cook.
it could be the smell of a perfume or cologne, that reminds you of a lover you once could not live without.

Has anyone ever asked you to help them do something illegal?
by Scully ini got a weird call from a work mate last night.
she's going through hell for the past year or so with her soon-to-be ex, who had been carrying on an affair and stopped sharing their family expenses.
long story short, he's out of the house now and has left her and their kids out in the country without any transportation.

Yes. It involved a gun. I refused and managed to talk them out of it. Never trusted them again........

Celebrating holidays
by dobbie injust wondering if you still abstain from celebrating christmas birthdays etc or if you do celebrate them how long did it take to feel comfy with doing it after you'd left the jws?i'm fading at the moment but although me and hubby have talked about spending xmas with our nonjw families and i told him i was going to start sending bday cards to my family, the thought of it scares me like its a big huge sin.does it ever feel natural to celebrate holidays?i used to love all that sort of thing before i was a witness but when my mum and stepdad wished me happy bday last month it felt really odd and i was uneasy.i find it v confusing cos i can sort of see that jesus wasn't born in dec. but maybe he can have 2 bdays like the queen!also not being able to send fathers day cards this year was the final straw for me i felt so bad about it so i have lots of making up to do but just hope i can enjoy it all without feeling bad.
i know they say some bday things have pagan origins but there are things jws can have or do that also are pagan.wedding rings for example.thanks

I love the holidays!! I didn't celebrate anything for probably the first 6 years that I was out but I'm making up for lost time now. I love Christmas and Birthdays the most.
