  Do You Think You Have A Moral Obligation To Help JWs?

  I dislike most of the JWs I knew so I feel no inclination to help them in any way. Most of them were jerks, so it's appropriate that they associate only with their own kind and "separate themselves from the world".

  I'd be very happy if they would consider separating themselves from the world in a more literal way.

  i was wondering the other day when my neighbor(who is an jw elder) called me an "apostate" for refusing to return to jw's.

  when i left the wt i never stopped loving jehovah and jesus i just could not stomach the wt society anymore.

  there are alot of us ex-jw's who still love jehovah and jesus and still read our bibles.

  From the Elders' "Pay Attention" book:

  Apostasy.

  Apostasy is a standing away from, a falling away, defection,
  rebellion, abandonment; it involves teaching false
  doctrines, supporting or promoting false religion and its
  holidays or interfaith activities. (Deut. 13:13, 15; Josh.
  22:22, ftn.; Acts 21:21, ftn.; 2 Cor. 6:14, 15, 17, 18;
  2. John 7, 9, 10; Rev. 18:4)

  Those with sincere doubts should be helped, dealt with
  mercifully. (Jude 22, 23; w82 9/1 pp. 20-1;w80 8/1
  pp. 21-2)

  Apostasy includes action taken against true worship of
  Jehovah or his established order among his dedicated
  people. (Jer. 17:13; 23:15; 28:15, 16; 2 Thess. 2:9, 10)
  Persons who deliberately spread (stubbornly hold to and
  speak about) teachings contrary to Bible truth as taught
  by Jehovah's Witnesses are apostates.

  If it is learned that a person has taken up association with
  another religious organization, the matter should be investigated,
  and if verified, a committee should be formed.
  If it is clearly established that the person has joined
  another religion and intends to remain with it, the
  elders would make a brief announcement to the congregation
  that such- one has disassociated himself. (w86
  10/15 p. 31 )

  Working secularly for a false religious organization could
  put one in a position similar to that of one preaching false
  doctrine. (2 Cor. 6:14-16)

  Celebrating a false religious holiday would be similar to
  performing any other act of false worship. (Jer. 7:16-19)
  The Bible condemns the following:

  Causing divisions and promoting sects.
  This would be deliberate action disrupting the unity
  of the congregation or undermining the confidence
  of the brothers in Jehovah's arrangement.
  It may involve or lead to apostasy. (Rom. 16:
  17, 18; Titus 3:10, 11 )

  The practice of spiritism. (Deut. 18:9-13; I Cor. 10: 21, 22; Gal. 5:20)
  Idolatry. ( I Cor. 6:9, 10; 10:14)

  Idolatry includes the possession and use of images
  and pictures that are employed in false religion.

  I haven't done anything to change my appearance since I left the cult. I started to grow a goatee once but shaved it off when I saw the amount of grey in it. If I put a suit on I'd probably look like a JW. Well, maybe not... My suits are not polyester.

  i have only been here a couple of weeks, and while i find most of you to be kindhearted, understanding and supportive, i can't help but get the feeling that there are some of us who are not who they say they are.

  i'm not trying to be presumptuous, but do you think some people pretend to be x-witnesses just to mess with us?

  "The friends" came over today.............

  i am so sick of witnesses reserving catchphrases for themselves.. talking to my wifes mother today she kept referring to "the friends".

  "the friends came over today, we went to lunch with the friends".

  well if they are "the friends", then what the hell are everyone else?

  I heard some of the JWs refer to others as the friends™. It always made me a bit nauseous. It wasn't a term I was comfortable using, simply because most of the JWs I knew were assholes. I didn't like them. Why would I call them "friends"?

  What really used to piss me off was when speaking to someone I might make a reference to my sisters. Without exception, no one ever knew what I was talking about unless I referred to my sisters as "my fleshly sisters™". Are the JWs really so stupid that they don't know what a sibling is? Or is this yet another method of undermining the family?

  ok i know there are all kinds of educational tapes you can get to help you learn better and faster.

  many of them are tapes you put on and then go to sleep.

  the rationale is that it is easier to learn while you are sleeping.

  I've long been of the opinion that this is part of their mind control strategy. A person at the meeting, half asleep, in a near hypnotic state, is hearing everything yet evaluating nothing. I never did personal study. I never prepared for meetings. I dozed off during most meetings and assemblies. Yet I always had a perfect score for the written reviews.
