  ok, i got a call tonight from an old friend i knew years ago when i lived in another city.

  i haven't seen him for 18 years although we have had occassional contact.

  he's coming in to toronto next week and wants to know if we can get together to catch up.

  Hey FreeWilly, how's your blood pressure doing after cooresponding with this dolt? That's why I keep a blood pressure monitor on my desk beside my computer. It's a great indicator to tell me when it's time to give up on certain types of people.

  Not in a million years would I ever endorse that greasy little cult by giving one of its members my business. Theres a chance your cash would be headed to the contribution box.

  A very important point to remember. Hire a JW to clean your windows, he donates some of it to the Society, and they use it to legally defend a child molester.

  WT Study on Education - How did it go?

  i didn't attend the meeting today and i haven't spoken to any fellow witnesses about the study yet.

  anyone care to share how their meeting went?

  any interesting comments made for or against the wts policy on higher education?

  To top it off, this same brother made this comment during the WT study: "High quality people excel in life even without an education. Low quality people don't, despite their education."

  OMG. That is just plain RUDE.

  Or very observant. When was the last time you saw a JW excel at anything, other than being an asshole? The only JWs who excel in life are the ones who eventually leave and get one.

  Alternatively, you could send him over to my place. I'll get him all liquored up, hire a couple of exotic dancers to come over, get it on video, and post it on the internet.

  Or you could be conveniently out of town on business while he's here.

  I would not be allowed any legal recourse if they screwed up or cheated.

  I think this is the cause of many of the problems JWs experience when doing business with each other. I've known many who got badly burned in business by "brothers", and many of these "brothers" were repeat offenders. Elders refused to deal with the problem, and victims were warned by elders that they shouldn't take their "brother" to court.

  I'm sure there are many JW "businessmen" who deliberately exploit this rule.

  Absolutely! When I was a JW in good standing I did business with quite a few of them. I found them to be the most dishonest people I've ever known, and it cost me thousands of dollars. I've also found that many JWs have a very poor work ethic, viewing employment as a necessary evil but "kingdom interests" always come first. They are notorious for cutting corners wherever they can, and don't seem to take any pride in their work.

  I would not do business with people who belong to an organization that promotes an attitude that secular work is merely a necessary evil.

  Public Speaker-No call no show

  my wife went to a meeting today and a funny thing happened.

  the public speaker from out of town did not show up!

  so instead of ad-libbing for an hour they just ended the meeting an hour early!

  It happened in my hall quite a few times. A couple of times a local elder would get up there and regurgitate a talk he gave a few weeks earlier, but mostly we'd get out of the meeting early. Sometimes I actually prayed to Jehovah so the visiting speaker wouldn't show up.

  Really, how much spiritual pablum can a guy take before he finally pukes all over himself?

  Hey, there's nothing wrong with keeping your options open. You can even set up a video camera for blackmail purposes later. It may be useful some day, especially if he tries to cause you problems with your local elders. Voice recorders are good too.

  i pulled that from another topic because it reminded me of something my mother said to me just before i married my husband.

  first let me say that my mother doesnt like my husband.

  her dislike for my husband has tempered over the years but it's still there.
