These are much younger girls and it is a small sales floor. It is difficult to avoid them.
For the most part I have liked them. But right now they are all being very snotty to each other.
Yesterday I argued with the assistant manager (who is in her mid twenties and I am actually too old to be her mother.
She uses terms like "always" and "never" quite often and accuses us of misbehavior and mistakes constantly.
She also addresses me as "Hon" which is insulting coming from her. People only call children or the very elderly "hon".
She accused me out loud in front of others of never doing this and always doing that.
Tired of her aristocratic ways, I spoke out that she is incorrect.
She cried "Why do you disrespect me and always argue with everything I say?"
Me: I dont disrespect you! But you use the terms "always" and "never" too much when referring to my work performance. It is untrue that I NEVER do this or ALWAYS do that and I wont stand and allow you to
tell all my co-workers an untruth about me!
And another thing. Dont call me "hon", I hate it. I am not your child. My name is _____________!
This is all on the sales floor when the customers are not there.
Yesterday was cruddy.
I went home and cried.
I am having no fun working in the world. I am too sensitive and get my feelings hurt easily.
If I just do the pearl thing and take it I am accused of not dealing with reality and being a pollyanna.
If I stand up for myself I am accused of disrespecting someone.
Well, I get another day off tomorrow to cool off and rest.
I really want to be on good terms with my co-workers and have good times.
Sometimes there just isnt any way to make people like you if they just dont want to. -

38 Years, your advice is what my husband says to me.....focus on the work and the paycheck.
Its so hard! I want to have friends so bad you know! I want to love and be loved! But work is not the place to seek friendship and love I guess. If it happens, great. But I should not expect it or be depressed when everyone seems cranky and unhappy all around me all the time.
Can I tell you an unpleasant story that happened yesterday?
Yesterday, Sunday, did not go well at work. For one thing, sales are slow, and so we are all standing around frustrated. Our boss is going nuts because the sales are down so low. The regional director calls and is very dissappointed too. So the mood is low in our store.
So the girls start to pick on each other. And the customers that did come in are weird.
I was especially sweet to a lady but she called the store back and reported to my manager that I was
extremely rude to her. YIKES!!!!
So I show my pearl bracelet to two girls and share with them a JW concept from a talk I heard years ago.
"Just like the oyster forms a pearl around an irritation, so too, we can turn small daily irritations into beautiful pearls of our personality by showing patience, understanding, love and mercy!"
They both just looked at me and burst out laughing!!!!!
I felt ridiculous. After that I felt uneasy around them.
Today I am home scouring the want ads. -

I know it is hard to believe, but I did not experience much bad behavior
in my circle of JWs.
I hung out with pioneers and active ones and elders and their wives.
I did some janitorial for a while with different ones.
We were all living in our dream bubble and used courteous behavior with each other.
The difference is enormous between the two groups of people I have observed.
The world does not seem to care how their behavior affects the other guy.
They advocate speaking up and standing up and in your face confrontations with others.
That is why I am asking what is your experience?
This is my third job outside the org and it is always the same problem for me.
I am appalled at the lack of manners and courtesy and caring and concern on the
part of the average worker for his/her co-worker.
Its "dog-eat-dog" and rather treacherous.
What is your experience?
And do you have any tips you can pass on?
How do I toughen my skin to deal with the world? -

My friend had two maiden aunts named Gertrude and Garland.
They were affectionately called Auntie Ger and Gar.
They both lived to reach 100 years old. -

As a witness I only worked with other witnesses for 35 years.
Now thrust out into the real world I find myself unprepared
for many of the confrontations I am experiencing with fellow
associates and customers alike.
I am amazed at the conceit and petty gossip and foul
language and back biting that goes on. Believe me I have
tried hard to like them all and be a good work mate.
I have tried to be a calming spirit at work but to no
avail it seems. They are like a pack of wild dogs and even I
get bit every now and then.
I am just about to quit another job because I cant stand
the people. They are just incorrigible.
Is it me and my sensitivity?
Have any of you experienced this same adjustment problem? -

No, I think my parents could have given it a little more thought.
I have always thought I would have enjoyed being called "Harmony" -

Could U Please Cite Some Personal Interesting Observations About The Truth?
by minimus infor anyone that looks at this thread, could you write something either profound or simply interesting so as to make the reader see the truth about "the truth"?

I thought finding the truth would enhance and expand my life, making it fuller and deeper and filled with love and joy!
Instead, it confined it to loneliness, poverty, judgmental friends, and forced attendance to a building several times a week. -

Is this a new change with the do not call list?
by DT inthere are a few threads going about getting the witnesses to stop coming to their door.
i was curious, so i called the headquarters to ask about the best way to get on their do not call list.
they said to just ask them to put you on their do not call list.

I was just wondering if a relative of mine already put me on the "do not call" list?
Since I have lived here in this house no JWs have called here.
I am here most mornings until 11.
No note has ever been left here.
I have never seen them on the streets of my town either.
So I was wondering whats up?
They always used to say someday they would cease the door to door work.
Thats when you know God has in mind to start the tribulation and begin Armageddon.
Whatever.
I am too tired and busy working fulltime to worry much about it, trying to pay the rent on minimum wage in my 50s. Thankyou so much Watchtower. -

Thank you Toobad.
I see your point.
But you know the witnesses, they will do whatever they are told to do, workwise, as long as it does not conflict with any of God's laws.
I just thought this scenario would not phase a die hard JW, gross as it is.
And honestly, many would find a lot of pleasure in it. The story makes them RIGHT. And for many that would be a big satisfaction...a complete vindication and victory after all the many horrible book studies and Service Meetings they had to sit through.
