  JWs and the Amish

  this morning's paper had an article on the amish [nothing in depth, just about how they sell their wares at local markets] but it brought to mind the ideas of the amish - they want no part of the world, they don't like to call attention to themselves, don't baptize little children, and they shun those who leave the faith.

  i was just wondering if anyone here could shed some light on how jws view the amish.

  are they impressed?

  Interesting topic, my husband has now observed a little of what the jws are like because of my ex and my children, his comment to me is it reminds him of the amish people how they keep seperate and stuff, my comment is that jws are hypocritical in these respect of really keeping seperate from the world, if it was so important then they would have their own communitys and not need to go "out into the world", why would you place children, teenagers in fact into a world where everything glitters and shines and them tell them that they cant have any of it, why not have a jw school, so they are not tempted to do the world ways of the other kids. If they really want to be seperate then maybe they should live like the amish.

  Ever lie on your service reports?

  did anybody out there lie on their service reports that they maintained the 'national average' when in reality you got .005 hours of service in any given month?

  i magically always used to always get "10" hours out in service, while nobody ever saw me at the groups, no one ever caught on, or seemed not to -- maybe they just didn't give a shit.. i always lied so i could keep my microphone 'privelidges' -- that being, the privelidge to walk around at the back of the hall giving my deflated ass a break from those awful chairs they had.

  Hmmm, well i guess like a few here i never really lied about my hours or placements, after all"jehovah" sees everything we do, i did however round up. but always subtracted that from next month.... What used to make me laugh though was a brother who believed if he started preaching at say 9.15 and finished at 11.15 counted that as three hours, 9,10,11, see three, lol.

  Abortion VS Child Molestation

  i just wanted to know what others thought about this archbishop's comment.

  he said that abortion was a bigger sin than child molestation.

  do you agree or disagree and why?

  And child molestion doesnt ruin lifes? How many children that have been molested go on to molesting, or become so emotionally and mentally distressed that their lives are never the same....What of the family members who have to deal with often times the fact the offender is one of their own family much less a "trusted" member of the church.... Yes i agree that abortion is a destruction of human life but so is child molestation, and in gods eyes a sin is a sin, no question.

  Well done bill, very nicely written letter. Its such a shame to see these things go on in a organization who are supposed to be living the truth.. You know what really gets to me, whenever "when i was a witness" we would show someone their wrongdoing and they wouldnt see it we would say, oh satan has blinded the minds of the unbelievers..... Whose blind now! They refuse to see how this issue has and does affect the faith of many in the organization.... Because of this very situation i have lost my faith in god, and how can they not be held responsible.

  my best friend's wedding and her jw family

  i'm very excited for her!

  she's an inactive jw and everyone on her father's side are active jws as well as her sister.

  I know how you are feeling, it truly does suck in the major sense, the people you want to spend the happiest day of your life with cant be there, i got married about 6 weeks ago, it was a small intimate wedding, but i had the best time, i just kept remembering it was my day and i didnt care if the dubs didnt want to be there, and i finally got my dad to walk me down the isle not like my first wedding where i wasnt allowed to have him coz he was an adulterer...... What truly makes me sick is the family members who are dubs that think they are so much better than those of us who for various reasons are no longer witnesses....

  just a bit of fluff...what's your favourite men's cologne or women's perfume scent?.

  have you ever got a gentle wiff of a really nice cologne and wanted to ask the owner what the name of it is??

  if its a woman i will ask, only because i want to go out and buy some.

  Hey beck my favorite mans cologne is polo, my darling husband was wearing it the first day i met him, he sent me toys with it sparayed all over them when we were apart and i used to sniff them to be close to him, now even when i smell it it brings so many memories back...... As to female scents, i love joop for woman, and also samsara.

  JW commercial on t.v. news channel

  i can not beleive what i just saw on the all news channel.

  it was a commercial endorsed by the christain congregation of jehovah's witnesses.. the commercial starts off with a mom checking on her son,who can not sleep .

  he is upset and by the drawing he did, you can tell it is about the world trade center attacks.

  Thats just sickening, and how would she have comforted her son had he been a victim of child molestation within the congregation, what scripture could she have shown him to make him feel better.

  Funny stuff guys and girls, i know my brother actually stood up in a judicial hearing and said this is just bullshit {excuse my language}, and it didnt go down very well.lol.
