  Princess' Polar Bear Swim

  she will probably kill me for posting these photos, but i can't resist.. last thursday, our rachel (princess here) and one of her friends decided to dive into a local lake and do a polar bear swim, despite the fact that the temperature was in the teens and there was fresh snow from the night before.. here are a few photos.

  you can see the snow on the ground and notice everyone else is bundled up.. .

  John Denver v Jay Leno

  i 've heard snippets of this absurd urban myth about jay leno asking j denver to leave his show because he hated jw's.

  but why on earth on a prime time slot would j leno start asking j denver about jw's?

  and i don't think j leno is a particularly spiritual guy or wt supporter is he?

  I heard this with a different twist.... The story was that John Denver had a concert, and before it started he asked everyone in the audience who was a JW to please stand up. There were several there, and after they stood up, John Denver asked them to leave.

  To live to be 100, think about this?

  last week we had a birthday party for my friends great grandfather, he turned the big 100. he is living with his children, and has his own room and actually does pretty good for someone of 100. he can talk to you, remembers things, but he has his moments ... he is 100. we were all talking about the way the world has changed for this man, in 100 years.

  he was born in a time, when cars were not common and only the superweathly had them.. ww1 and ww2 had not happened yet.. the titanic was not built, and had not sunk.. there were still many thousands of veterans alive from the civil war.. computers started to get popular in his 70's.. he lived through the great depression in his 30's.. ... so many more.

  so i was thinking, if you were to live to be 100, what things would you reflex on as major changes in events.

  this is a nice big open board, thought i'd throw myself out there.. recently i had been a part of the "e-jehovah's witness" board.

  especially as i don't think i even care that much anymore.

  well, 3 weeks after that she cheated again, with a different guy.

  That's quite a story... I'm so sorry you have gone through all that. Your parents sound great, though!

  I was wondering why you want to return to the JWs. Not judging at all, just wondering if you truly believe that they are God's chosen people. I grew up a JW too, pioneered straight out of high school, married a JW who is now an elder, and yet I always felt that something wasn't right. But I never looked into it any deeper, because I wasn't supposed to. For a while I prayed a LOT, researched everything I could in the Society's publications, but still got no satisfying answers.

  When I finally did start researching outside of the JW box, and became convinced that they weren't the true religion and that Armageddon wasn't coming 'any day now', it was a huge relief. It was like a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders. I felt more alive than I'd felt in years. That's why I ask... You say you're so tired, which is understandable given all you've been through. But your troubles in life are more than enough to deal with, without trying to please a group of men who are not speaking for God, if that's actually the case.

  Whatever you decide to do, we're glad you're here!!!

  Apostle Peter was imperfect, denied Christ, discriminated against gentiles .. Apostle Paul admitted being a poor speaker and displayed human characteristics, BUT what they taught and wrote down for the congregations was spot on. There is a difference between human & personal mistakes and actually teaching untruths and erroneous teachings.

  JWs came to my door, and I really dissappointed myself

  today i was woken by two 20 something year old jw guys.

  i let them offer the mags and then told them i was not interested in religion.

  after the reasoning book comeback i told them i was a jw but left a year ago.

  I did not say I am d/f, and totally avoided mentioning I pioneered and was in Bethel.

  I wouldn't have mentioned being DF'd, as that might have immediately ended the conversation, but if someone had told me that they had pioneered and been at Bethel while I was at their door as a JW, it would have definately caught my attention. They would have grown a notch in my mind... And I would have wondered what made them leave.

  Don't beat yourself up over your response, though. You never know what might make someone think!

  Youths leaving...

  alright, i have a few questions about the 'young ones'.

  i've heard that the rate at which younger kids are leaving has increased.

  is this true?

  The big problem I have with her is this: What if I do convince her to leave? Her entire family is in it. They might hate her.

  Why did you leave yourself? Do you no longer believe the things the WT teaches? Are you completely sure that they are not God's chosen organization? If so, can you list the reasons why?

  If you have solid reasons for leaving the JWs and truly believe that they aren't God's chosen people, then there is nothing wrong with sharing that knowledge with a friend. Knowledge is power. Once she has the knowledge, the responsibility for what your friend ultimately decides to do with her life is her own. But at least she'll have the facts and be able to make a truly informed decision.

  Be careful, though. You didn't say if you were baptized or not, but if you are and you have family in, you might not want to be DF'd. And also be aware that sometimes, they simply don't want to hear it.

  Terry Irwin given death video

  i find it encouraging to see that justice was chosen in this case, rather than the normal red tape and/or rules.. .

  terri given footage of irwin's deaththursday jan 4 00:14 aedtsteve irwin's wife terri has been given footage of her husband's death after queensland authorities broke with protocol to ensure it did not get into the wrong hands.. copies of the film, which shows irwin being stabbed in the heart by a stingray, have been destroyed, queensland state coroner michael barnes said.. he said footage was normally held in perpetuity but the destruction of the copies would prevent them being sold on the black market, news limited newspapers report.. the coronial investigation is almost complete and the footage was handed to terri irwin just before christmas, mr barnes said.. .

  "when the final police investigation report is received the coroner will, in consultation with ms irwin, determine whether an inquest is necessary," mr barnes said.he said police had told him unscrupulous operators would be willing to pay up to $1 million for the footage.. under usual coronial investigation protocols, a film or audio evidence is handed back to the owners and a copy made for the state to be held in perpetuity.. "i'm not sure whether we will be doing that in this case because of the risk it poses," mr barnes said.. he said police had a responsibility to ensure the footage was not leaked.. the findings of the coronial investigation into irwin's death are expected to be made public within weeks.. .

  I hope she keeps that tape in a safe deposit box or something... You never know what people would do to get ahold of a million dollars worth of video tape...
