Complications are so scary! I'm glad you got to sleep in your own bed last night, you need to take care of yourself, too, so you can be a good advocate for your hubby....
Sending good thoughts your way!

quote: what i am waiting for is one of their rank and file elders to get sued over this issue and some of the hospital liaison puppets to lose everything he owns because of it.
this point was brought up in the "big news has started" thread (and is now buried on page 3).
interesting point, and i wonder if anyone has ever heard of a case where elders have been successfully sued over judicial matters (slander / libel) or wrongful death (blood)?
Ok, I might be opening a can of worms here but here goes....
What I am waiting for is one of their rank and file elders to get sued over this issue and some of the hospital liaison puppets to lose everything he owns because of it.
My husband is an elder. I know that there are many people here who have experienced absolutely horrible things at the hands of elders, but there are also many elders who are kind, loving, decent human beings. My husband is one of them. He is one of the nicest people I have ever met, and would never, ever harm anyone intentionally.
He's been an elder for about 15 years probably, can't remember exactly. I know that he has served on Judical Committees. In all that time, I've never heard a word of anything elder-related... he keeps all confidential matters strictly confidential.
My point is that there are many elders who do what they do because they truly believe that it is the right thing, that they are acting on behalf of God's organization. I know my husband does. I want nothing more than for him to leave the WT, and maybe one day he will. In the meantime, I am out, and my teenage kids will be out as soon as they leave home. If he leaves one day, I know he is the type of person who will feel truly sorry and worry that he caused undue hardship to someone while he was an elder. There are people on this board who once were elders and who feel that way.
If wronged exJWs begin personally suing the elders who wronged them, it will undoubtedly escalate to exJWs suing any elder they can, just because they can gain something from it. Not everyone has stellar motives (*gasp!*). And as an exJW myself, married to an elder, this is one worry I could certianally live without.
Just a thought.

what was the starngest local needs topic you ever heard???
?
or is God sending a sign that the JWs are full of crap?LOL @ Saoirse!

i personally am hated quite a bit.
i've concluded it was because i rejected them personally.
i quit associating with them because i realized they were hateful individuals with serious mean streaks and other personality problems.
I agree that it's all about fear. They don't fear the DF'd people too much, because they are just people who gave in to fleshly desires (or so the R&F dub believes.) Faders may be just weak individuals who don't understand the importance of going to meetings or lazy people who can't be bothered. But DA'd people, those who have left the WT on purpose They are dangerous.
The WT uses fear to keep the dubs in line. I'm sure that the generic announcement that ''xxx is no longer one of JWs'' was instituted so that the R&F wouldn't realize how many dubs were DAing themselves. And the fear of apostates that the WTS fuels is further proof of how scared they are.
Long live apostates!

i worship my life, the 70 year span of my life, i worship.
it is my god.
this is my salvation.
That was profound, tetra. As usual.

i posted this in another thread but it is more relevant here.
i worked for jw doing back breaking work for a while only to be told by another jw that he was ripping me of - he was paying me half the going rate.
i was only 17 and naive didn't know anything about the world of work.
My husband owns his own company, and we will no longer do jobs for JWs (with a few exceptions) because they do not pay when they get the bill! The excuses and the evasion techniques they employ are truly something to behold.......
We had to fire one guy working for us, because he was stealing tools, buying parts with our business credit card for himself, and lying about the number of hours he worked. Oh, yeah, and he was a pioneer......

.
as a jw, i never thought that i was in a cult.
i thought that other religions were a cult, but not us.. what made you realize that the jw's is a cult?
I knew they were wrong for a long time before I stopped attending meetings, but I've been fading for a couple years now, and just recently admitted to myself that they are a cult. Once I allowed myself to see it, it's become more and more clear. The more experiences I read here, the more I realize the depths of the cultist thinking that goes on in the WT.
Scary.

hi, i just got registered and am looking forward to getting to know others who have escaped from the controlled environment that i was so faithful to for so long.
i hope to meet others with similar backgrounds.
i've been out about 4yrs and love the feel of it, but to be honest, as much as a definiate decision it was on my part, there was still a long time of adjustment.
Welcome!
