PC - great post. Getting JWs to think about what they are doing is exactly what you did. Perhaps you planted a little seed that will grow over time!

How much money would you have to win, to quit your job?
by JH insome people love their jobs so much, that even if they won a couple of million $ playing lotto, they would still keep their jobs !!!
sounds stupid, right?
but i guess some have wonderful jobs, and money isn't everything.. how about you, what's the minimum you'd need to win to say, good bye boss ?

The minimum I would need to quit my job would be about $2 million. I could put that in the bank and live off the interest for the rest of my life. That would leave me with just about what I make for a salary, so I wouldn't be rich by any means. I'd say that to call oneself rich, you'd need $5+ million in the bank.

Christianity, Satan & Halloween
by Nellie inforget about being a witness - i never, ever understood how mainstream christian people could justify participating in a celebration that is so overtly satanic.
while i recognize the ability to dress up in non-satanic costumes, the participation aspect bothers me.
of course, now, my kids want to trick or treat, but i just can't bring myself to say "yes.

Would god condemn you for doing something, such as participating in Halloween, when you have no evil intent in your mind or heart?

A reminder for Witnesses who deny this
by gumby inhere's a precious little gem for jehovahs witnesses who deny what their organisation really teaches.. when they are directly asked..." do you believe your the only ones who will be saved"?
they try and wiggle out of it with some vague, obscure answer.
below is what they really believe.. watchtower 1989 september 1 p. 19 remaining organized for survival into the millennium .

Double Edge said:
That's been my experience. I've never been a dub, but when I asked my dubbie friend that question, their answer was "only Jehovah knows people's heart".... I was left with, "oookay... and that means......?" then they would "tap dance" around the question for the next several minutes. Go figure.... just say I'm worm food and be done with it.
My response would be "can one be saved outside of the organization?" The statement that only Jehovah knows implies that one can be saved outside of the organization. It says that it isn't necessarily true that only dubs will be saved.

Is god all knowing?
by gringojj ini dont understand how god can be omnipotent, and all knowing, but that doesnt apply to knowing the future?
god is not human.
he had the power to create us.

One cannot be simultaneously omnipotent and omniscient. This is the conflict that finally sent me over the edge to atheism.
If God know everything which will happen, he knows what he is going to do at all points in the future. Therefore, he has no free will, meaning he cannot be all powerful.

New Governing Body members
by Lot ini was curious if anyone has any thoughts on why the two new members of the gb haven't beeen announced on the society's web site?
they were appointed on august 25 according to what i have read here, but no one in my congregation has said anyhting about it.
i know it is still a little early for it to be in the watchtower, but don't they usually post this kind of news at jw media?.

One brother I know of ;the anointed....His name is Bro. Freedman ;55 years old. He is not a member of the GB though. Why are so many young anointed all of a sudden?
Because the whole idea is a fraud...

I just looked at the stats online for JW growth over the last several years. Though about 250,000 are being baptised each year, total membership (publishers) is only going up by about 100,000 each year. That means 150,000 people are leaving each year. That only about a 1.6% growth rate, not even matching population growth rates.
