  Happiness

  no aspect of life is more desired, more elusive, and more perplexing than happiness.

  people wish and strive for what they believe will make them happy i.e, good health, attractive looks, an ideal marriage, children, a comfortable home, success, fame, financial independence, the list goes on and on.

  I've gotten this question from my JW friend... "are you happy?" Yes, I am happy. Life has its ups and downs, for sure, but I just look around me and see a world with so much diversity and so many unique people. I enjoy getting up every day and facing the world - what new challenge or new bit of information will I encounter today? I've got good friends and a good family. It frankly doesn't take much to make me happy. I keep my stomach full (sometimes too full), and I have a roof over my head. I enjoy motorcycle rides just for fun. And I love a good book. Life is good!

  Do they respect gay rights?

  i am not gay and never have been one, but do you think that your local society treats gays with respect or that it has no tolerence for such a sexually different and in the thought of many deviant minority?

  .

  i personally don't approve of their activities but i can understand that they are genetically predisposed in that way and can't change.

  The area where I live is very conservative and there are no openly gay public officials. Hopefully that will change with time.

  Speaking to an Elder tomarrow, I'm almost free!!!!!!!

  major developments in my world, just wanted to let you all know about it.

  i'm meeting with the elder tomarrow afternoon.

  i'm going to stick heavy to the watchtowers interpretation of matthew 24 and how it is unbalanced, sensationalized and out of touch with any historical evidence or respect for the bible.

  Leaving Watchtower vs. coming out of the closet

  as some or most of you may know, i'm gay, and i've recently been coming out of the closet after being repressed most of my life.

  well, as i read a number of the testimonials here about leaving the watchtower, it strikes me how familiar the feelings of those who are contemplating leaving are so similar to mine in coming out.

  the fear of what people will think, how it will affect lives, the change in life path, disappointment of famliy members, the sense of freedom after it's been done, etc.

  United Nations Member Nations Consideration Implmentation of UN Income Tax

  this morning on the radio news, mention was made that the united nations member nations are considering instituting a personal income tax.

  this would be an income tax levied by the un on all of the worlds age earners.

  if this is done then imo we are truly on the brink of a new world order under the direction of the un.

  conductor: "as food shortages become more and more common as the time of the end advances, they will make excellent field service points since they were predicted by the bible.

  Do you think that the Book of "Genesis" is a fairytale?

  i mentioned before on another post that i am in college working on my ba degree and i am having such a "hard" time with believing in the bible since taking my science class.

  the information that i am learning is totally destroying my faith in the bible.

  i still believe in jehovah and jesus and would never chose the "atheist" way but i am wondering if maybe the bible is just a book of fairytales to teach us a lesson.

  Booker-t,

  What you're encountering is the reason why the Watchtower so strongly opposes higher education. Christian Fundamentalists (including JWs) take a literal view of the Bible, which includes the view that the Earth is young, ie, less than 10,000 years old. This flatly contradicts all available scientific evidence. So the question becomes - do we believe science, which is testable and proven to be accurate, or do we believe a story that's a few thousand years old?

  Hanks was totally miscast. The lines were terribly written. Some of the scenes were just laughably silly. The albino psycho monk was a horrible actor.

  I have to echo that statement. So much of the "action" was poorly constructed and I found myself groaning at the bad writing and dialogue. Not to mention the ridiculous idea that there's only one descendant of Jesus after 2000 years. There should be millions by this point.
