What jobs have you done as. . .

ok we all have stories of "window-cleaners" but some of us had other kinds of work - that you got payed for (slave labor excepted).

so what kinds of things have you done?

I started working at 14 so here goes.

Worked for school system who paid poor students to learn office skills durring the summer.

Fast food

Grocery store clerk

Fast food

Trim press I lasted 3 months.I got fired because I refused to run a drill press because I'm deathly affraid of them.My best friend cut her finger off in the machine 1 month later.

Punch press for 10 months.I also ran a spot welder in which I almost cut my thumb off.

Waitress where I blew out my knee. I was 21.

Auto parts delivery for 2 companys.

Fast food.

Courier for 2 and a half years.

Sold custom rims and tires for 2 years.Loved my boss hated the job.

Taxi driver.I work for myself now.I only drive 3 nights a week and the rest of the time I'm semi retired at 32.

What's your take on "stumbling"...

the phrase "cause for stumbling" often left me bewildered.

tell you what to do counsel you and impose their own opinions on you.

maybe i did something in the past that "stumbled" someone, but aren't we all able to make our own decisions when it comes to conduct and choices ... at least we should be, especially if it isn't regarding something inherently wrong.

You would have to be pretty weak in your faith to be "stumbled" by someone else.

Yeah I didn't get my full height till I was in my early to mid 20's.I was 5'4" now I'm 5'6".

just heard about the death of joel siegel, the entertainment critic for abc, and found myself, surprisingly, in tears.

maybe it was because he had such a young son and made plans to let him know how much he was loved, long before he died.

maybe because i have watched him for so many years.

Princess Di.I've always felt a kinship with her.She was my idol from the time I was like 6 or 7 years old.She was also the first person I ever cried over when she died.She was buried the day my sister got married.I woke up that day at 4 AM to watch the funeral from start to end.

My Grandpa Died Sunday

my grandpa died sunday afternoon.i was there in the room with him.i had to watch as he struggled to take his last breaths.it was horrific to watch.this was the second time i have watched someone in my family die.he died of prostate cancer.it was a long and painful death.i'm glad he's not in pain anymore.. at the moment i'm feeling a little emotional and upset about what i saw and all of the jw bs i had to listen too.i'm also dreading the jw memorial which is next weekend.i am planning on going.i'm da ed so i don't expect anyone to come up and talk to me or express there sorrow to me.the thing is i feel like i should be comferted and people should tell me they are sorry i lost my grandfather.i lost someone who i had alot of respect for all of my life regaurdless of how close we were after i da ed.i think i'm going to be excluded at the dinner after.they are planning a reception type thing for after the service.

i'm glad i did get the chance to see him and talk to him before he got really sick.i had the chance to go to dinner with him and my parents and a couple of my aunts a few months ago.when he was leaveing he asked me pointedly for a hug.he said he was collecting them.i hugged him and said i loved him.that was the last time i saw him till i went to my aunts house where he was staying just before he went into hospice.the next time i saw him was 3 weeks ago when he entered hospice and wasn't expected to live the night out.then i saw him sunday i arrived about 20 to 30 minutes before he took his last breath.he was creamated this week and will be buried with my other family in our family plots soon.. anyway i'm just in need of some kind words of support at the moment.i though that jwd would give that to me even though i don't post here that much.it really sucks to feel alone at times like this..

You know what really pisses me off is that my Grandpa was a JW his whole life.He was second generation (I was 4th generation).I kept hearing people say he had a good linage to pass down.Of course this wasn't said to me but to my cousins who are MS.Like I'm not a good person.Like I'm the trash of the earth.

His linage is as much mine as anyone of my cousins or anyone else.I felt like I wasn't even in the same room with the Elder who said that.Funny thing was he looked pointedly at me when he said it.I wonder if he did the on purpuse or unconscienly??

PS Sorry for the spelling I'm on yahoo because firefox won't let me do paragraphs and I have spell check on firefox.And I'm working on my second beer and my I don't know how many shots.LOL I'm in the mood to drink.

Voluntarily Confessing & Then Getting Reproved or Disfellowshipped

do you realize how many contrite witnesses went to the elders to make things right with god and wound up getting disfellowshipped or privately or publicly reproved?

a lot.. did you or anyone that you knew ever get "disciplined" unfairly?

many times, no one would ever know about anything unless it was voluntarily brought up.

Yeah strange isn't it.When adults are involved all it took was a crazy lady's acusation.But when little children are involved you need 2 people too see it.

Thanks everyone who has replied so far.I was an emotional wreck Monday and it's been getting better slowly since.But tonight I was again feeling the need for comfort.I'm feeling overly emotional and upset.I keep having dreams of my Grandpa struggling for breath.It scares me and freaks me out to hear this sound in my dreams.I wake up sweating and scared with no one to talk to or hug.

I know it's a process with grief and it will take time but I've never in my life felt like this with another human that died.I've always been able to just say "ok life goes on" and be done with it.That probally sounds really cold to most of you but I've always bottled my feelings up and just put them on a shelf and never looked at them again.I've been working on this expressing my feelings and letting them out.I think this thread is progress because I can admit without fear that I have feelings and I'm upset and hurting and I need comfort from others.

I can't really talk to my Mom about my own emotional needs at the moment because she lost her father.I'm trying to be there for her and I've been putting my own feelings on the back burner.But tonight I didn't go to work and I decided to have a beer or two and it seems to have brought my feelings up.Anyway thanks for listening.
