I would start out with the definitions of what rebellion and pride are, our use synonyms of both of those words. ie. pride - arrogance, conceit, smugness and self importance to name a few. rebellion - revolt, uprising, insurgance, upheaval, mutiny, revolution and rising and then possibly end the talk with antonyms to show the difference our attitude can have by doing away with pride and rebellion.

I have printed it out but I am quite a chicken. I don't know if I will have the gusto to go through with it. If I do it will have to be sent to head quarters, I will not step foot into the hall again.
Thank you for the information and the hard work ya'll put into this.

JW's and sickness
by Honesty indid it seem to you that a lot of congregations had more than the usual sick people in them when compared with their worldly neighbors?.
could it be a common problem among jw's?.
do you think it may be mold?.

They do seem to be uncommonly ill. As Lady Lee already pointed out, especially the elders wives and I noticed alot of the regular pioneers. The most common illness was Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and/or Fibromyalgia. Also, there were alot of them (not just elders wives and RP) on antidepressants and/or antianxiety medications. And, if those who weren't on medication, probably should have been. (Myself included. ha ha)

Wonderful Words from the CO
by roflcopter inwonderful words from the co at the assembly.
not only are we in the last days, we are in the "last days of the last days", and that the fall of religion and the start of the great tribulation is so close.
hah, even went so far as to say "possibly within a year".

It depends on what you count as fake hours. I honestly believe that when you are a JW that is your life and everyone of them are full time ministers. Therefore, if a JW counted between 720 to 744 hours per month, except for February, they would be counting accurately.
But according to their standards, yes, I counted fake hours. I thought it was rather ridiculous that you could count as many hours as you wanted with a bible study but you could only count four hours per month with your family. So, my cheat hours were usually put down because I would count the time I spoke with my son.
And, anytime I cleaned the hall or anything additional I would count my time. Regular pioneers were allowed to count their time for those exact same things and yet it was only sacred service when they did it. When the R & F did it, it wasn't sacred service.
I wish I would have cheated more.

Blondie,
Beautiful work. I love your weekly comments but at the same time I cringe. It is sickening that at one time I accepted this so whole heartedly.
Thank you for the insight

by DigitalFokus inhey everyone.
its been a while since i have posted here.
i finally made the big move and am no longer in minneapolis.

Happy that your move has gone well and sorry that you miss your friends. Soon, you will be making new ones and you can add them to your collection. Mostly though you will get to be even closer to your little boy. Nothing better in the world than that. Congratulations on the job and the move. Good luck

Interesting email from a 13 year old.
by jwfacts inon my website jwfacts.com i ask two questions on the front page.
today i received an email from a 13yo attempting to answer them, which i thought was very sweet.
> cross and actually have it on the watchtower back in the day.

Wow, I was once like that little 13 year old and would have argued until I was blue in the face. She did pose her reply very sweetly. Your reply was also very nicely done, not condemning, and very simple. Perhaps it will give her and opportunity to think things through and she will investigate things more thoroughly. Though with witnesses they will not look or listen until they are sincerely ready, no amount of argument will sway them until they want to be swayed. Beautifully done though.

Totally depressed and don't know what to do......
by WingCommander ini don't know how some of you are around this time of year, but i'm just really depressed lately, more so this time of year it seems.
because it is nearing the memorial time and now that i have a son, i am totally lost as to what to do and what to teach him concerning religion.
my own youth was stolen by the wtbs and has made me a total wreck at times.

Wing Commander,
I am sorry for the pain that you are experiencing and the loss of a beloved family member. I wish that someone would have shown you and your family the concern that true christians should.
The only advice that I can share with you (in regards to your baby, the same that I am trying to use myself) is that there is nothing wrong with the bible. It has a good moral code to live by. JW's have made the bible a tool for judgement and unkindness. And they have put hedges about the law. They have made it absolutley impossible to please God because of all the hoops they make you jump through.
Micah 6:8 sums it up beautifully - "He has told you, O earthling man, what is good. And what is Jehovah asking back from you but to exercise justice and to love kindness and to be modest in walking with your God?"
If we could live by this scripture and try to raise our children by it then we have done everything that we need to to please God.
Hope this might help a bit.
