  i distinctly remember the last talk i gave.

  it was a talk in the "back" school.

  everyone in the room was someone i had known most of my life.

  the elders told me I couldn't do that and I just laughed and started walking toward an area we had passed where there were houses with trees in the living rooms and I helped an elderly lady get the tree out of her living room. The elders tried to 'scold' me for leaving 'the arrangement'

  This is virtually what happened to me after Hurricane Ivan. After putting a roof on a Pensacola area we were dispatched to repair his (unoccupied) rental houses so he could take advantage of the fact that rents had tripled since the storm.

  I said that I would only work on homes that were occupied and got "the arrangement" speech. I later found that they BILLED the Brothers for my donated time. Billed me at a rate that included Worker Comp which we never received.

  so many of you ex's are well educated.

  i am not, yet i am teaching english in a chinese college .

  the school motto in chinese translated by a chinese english teacher reads "steadfast in the purpose and strict in the enforcement, reverent in the morals and good at skills".

  The fine art of refusing a Shepherding Call

  i'm pretty sure the forseeable future will include numerous attempts to "shepherd" my family.

  my elder status is either already gone or soon to be gone.. .

  does anyone know of specific rules when it comes to refusing a shepherding call?

  To their faces. I would not recommend this tactic for everyone.

  i submitted "hit house" for entry after i posted about ladies not frequenting "hit houses," and some on here had no idea what i meant.. i felt sure urban dictionary would have it listed, but, alas, no.. i used "pink pete" as a username because "snowbird" was already taken.. i was called pink pete as a child.. tee hee hee.. sylvia.

  OK I'll share my favorite experience with the newly minted "Spanish Speaking" Elders. One of the words they teach in JW Spanish class is "coger". To the JWs it means "to get", but to the rest of the Spanish speakers on the American continent it means F*&K! So the Elder is "coger" this and "coger" that and I held up pretty up well until he used the word "excitado", saying he was very sexually excited to be here on the campaign trail when he meant to say "emotionally excited to be on the dais"

  I wonder how much "life advice" he has given to young JWs or how many families he has "lovingly counseled"

  When you are in the Americas, speak American Spanish, when you are in Europe, use their idioms.

  They even put a call out for witnesses to learn Spanish to help Spanish speaking congregations

  Yup, because it's sooo helpful to have Elders who speak at the same level as a six year old in charge of your life. No they do not "learn Spanish", they memorize a few hundred words and randomly spew them with poor pronunciation.

  After all, they are school janitors for the most part.

  we have come to an accomodation.

  i keep my roquefort and blue cheese in a ziplock bag and try not to leave it out any longer than necessary for my snack.

  she tolerates my maries blue cheese salad dressing.

  Keep it wrapped, and use good judgement. Nice that you respect your wife because this could be a real issue for some folks.

  Reminds me of the idiots at work who heat up their lunch of Stink Fish (Mullet or other bait-fish) with extra stink-sauce. I bring a can of Lysol and hose down the break room whenever these idiots are loose.

  Official visit from two local elders one fine Sunday morning

  well, it finally happened.

  a week ago sunday my fiancee and i were sitting in the living room drinking coffee and watching the morning talking heads when we heard the crunch of tires on the gravel in the driveaway, about 10:30 or so.

  Part of the plan is to find you PRECISELY like that, in your jammies and unshaven while they are in their best "Power-Suits". Since most folks attach much importance to physical appearance, they suppose that you will feel unconfortable.

  It's like the douches that put a little short chair in front of their office desks.

  Next time they come over uninvited sit them down and tell them "I was just cleaning my AK-47" and field-strip it in front of them. Turns the tables.

  How Can an Elder Fade Successfully?

  im working on my exit strategy out of the watchtower org.

  ive set my mind to be out by the end of 2010 or mid 2011. .

  id like to avoid getting df and disassociating my self is also an undesirable option.
