in their black and white world, the jw's think that everything that isn't jw is evil.. every day, i visit my dad at a nursing home, a place where dying people go, and i see so many good people, many volunteers, helping out the sick and dying.
witnesses may preach and know their bible better than the average person.
but i prefer people who don't know their bible as well, but have a heart and donate to the poor or help the sick and have compassion.. maybe one day when the average age of witnesses will be higher, maybe they will start to understand that there is more than preaching.

doing a quick survey among friends, i find that all of them are voting the same way they said they would months ago.
i also found that they are not doing this because of the fact that a political ad showed them something new, or convinced them on some one's character.
instead, they made this decision based on what they have seen in the news, the world and their own life.
I just assume that everything on TV is a lie or deception.

The trend in local elections is to vote for the guy who sticks the most paper signs in front of people's houses. Doesn't really matter what their platform is because there is only one platform; make your friends as much money as possible and damn the consequences.
so i had a jw friend stay at my house the past few days after getting back from doing a couple months of work in new orleans on quickbuilds.
he told me all about whats going on there, etc.
but one thing really ticked me off, and its amazing the money the wts is making offa this.. from what he told me is the wts is quickbuilding new homes for all the jw's who lost their homes in the hurricane and collecting the insurance payments that the homeowners recieve.
Meh, the local congos did over 700 roofs for brothers after one monumental hurricane. The things that stood out most for me:
The brother who needed a free roof and interior re-building on his gulf front (easily) $600K house but had enough extra cash to buy the house next door as an extra while the work was going on and then sell both afterwards.
The brothers who neglected to do any preparation like boarding up or even preventative maintainance in the face of a Cat four hurricane but expected to be bailed out after.
The brother who came out and asked us to "nail quietly" because he was inside watching TV
