  I don't get why some point to the no tolerance for gays and subjugation of women as a JW thing.

  some churches have taken the step to allow gays, women instructing men ect.

  but its not a jw thing.

  its a bible thing.

  It has always confused me as to why "Christians" are so willing to condemn gays and subjugate women because the Bible says so, but they don't want to stone their children to death for disobeying (Deut. 21:18-21) or offer up their children as a burnt sacrifice (Gen. 22:2 and Judges 11:30-35).

  Also, if you're a man, you can't be a JW if you don't have a penis or your balls have been crushed (Deut. 23:1). I don't understand why they don't check to make sure when they go over the baptism questions. I mean ... it's in the Bible.

  were are they now and what position are they in.. lets do a running count.. c.o.b.e was interfering with his daughter,d.f,reinstated died in good standing.. branch oveersear multiple young children d.f,reinstated in good standing.. publisher interfeared with small child in the k.h d.f not sure were he is.. publisher sexually abused 3 relatives no action taken in good standing.. current elder raped his sister years ago little action taken was not an elder at the time.. publisher sexualy abused young girl d.f,reinstater now in good standing.. m.s multiple young girls d.f,died trying to get reinstated.. so thats 7.. karter..

  At least 5, personally. I have asked others who have never been witnesses this same question. They agreed that was probably a higher number than the average population.

  the person who posted it pretended to have knowledge of why the store changed names but clearly was operating with an agenda!

  one filled with lies, misinformation and deceit!.

  I agree with dubstepped. I don't understand why the guy isn't be charged with extortion. They threatened to ruin his reputation, his livelihood, and his family if he didn't enter into a legal contract. I don't see how it could be binding. This will be interesting to see how this plays out in the courts. I bet it settles out of court pretty quickly.

  i have been noticing a distinct difference in reaction to those who leave christianity among evangelicals and jehovah's witnesses.

  when i left jwism there wasn't much effort to correct me.

  i know this is not a surprise to any of you.

  You mean shunning members that leave doesn't help bring them back? I'm shocked.

  I can't get over the article's tagline: "Responding with grace and love when people walk away from the faith."

  If that were printed in the Watchtower, it would say, "Responding with grace and love by shunning when people walk away from the faith".

  I can never, ever get past the Watchtower's claim that shunning is a "loving arrangement".

  i must say there is no other religion in modern times that has lied more to their cult followers than the watchtower company and no more brain dead, gullible cult members than the jdubs.. just three examples.

  when russel was in charge 1914 was prophesied to be the end of the system of things with armageddon and the earthly paradise.

  that didn't happen and poof now 1914 was not the end, oh no, it was the beginning of the end.. the second example, the generation that saw 1914 would not pass away before the end came, which meant in all jdubs minds that paradise had to be here in the late 1990's.

  How can the JDubs still worship in a religion that has lied to them so much and bow down and kiss the ring of the 8 popes in New York who are like self-licking ice cream cones?

  Because they don't know they are being lied to. The Borg does a great job of controlling what information their members consume. If you never allow yourself to be exposed to alternative points or view, or an alternative narrative for your religion that is different than what you have been fed, you will remain captive to their lies.

  I don't think most of their current members are aware of the extensive date setting for Armageddon that has occurred in the Watchtower's past. And they won't allow themselves to hear about it because they are told that anyone that utters a criticism about the Borg must be opposers, apostates, or whatever current buzz word they are using to label anyone they view as dissenters.

  BTW ... props on the "the 8 popes in New York who are like self-licking ice cream cones" comment. Its spot on.

  i could use your help in focusing on my presentation subject.. these workshops are for former members of any cult or other high-control, authoritarian group, not just jehovah's witnesses.

  i talked to this simple man once in florida, where racial tension linger.

  i can see why a sympathetic worker with a proven record as pioneer would end up in the top ranks, the hope being, that his effectiveness would rub off on the enterprise.

  it shows that whoever runs wt does not count on the governing body to really run the enterprise.

  Does anyone know how old Samuel Herd is? What year he was born?

  The watchtower article says he was baptized 9 months after his first meeting. That kind of time frame has always amazed me. I know it was common back then, but it is still pretty amazing to me how someone can completely devote their life to living as a JW after that short of a time span.

  As for being black ... it is hard not to think that he is the "Token" of the Governing Body. He doesn't seem to have much sway or power, which also leads to the belief that he may just be there for "variety". It is kind of amazing when you think about it ... a very large percentage of their members are black. Very unusual for a denomination started by white men.

  They are growing by leaps and bounds in African countries. I wonder if the new converts truly realize they are following a group of white men ... and Herd.

  trump’s state department is having all sorts of religions and groups from around the world meet for discussions on how to insure that they have freedoms.. i wonder if jehovah’s witnesses will be there..
