  If wonder what Jesus would say about the vast financial empire built by the borg? Compare His record with that of the borg.

  Watchtower Jesus

  $ in Real Estate many millions 0

  Lawyers at least 60 0

  Shareholders 500? not sure 0

  Stocks owned millions 0

  Corporations at least 100 0

  It's obvious that Jesus had a different focus. His message was simple. The borg tries to make it as complicated as possible to keep the flock busy trying to learn it all.

  A wise man (woman?) once said "Follow the money"

  If the organization actually tried to help people in need with all that money, it might not be such a big deal. They should still have to account for it, but it wouldn't be such an issue. The point is that they don't. Jesus gave all he had, including his life. The borg gives nothing. What about the poor people in Africa who can't afford their own Kingdom Hall? The borg has enough money to build many many halls. Do they do it? No, they build a resort in Hawaii, and a huge facility in Patterson, while the poor in many countries can't afford to have a place to meet. What would Jesus do?

  His early followers didn't build big buildings, or buy stocks, or print magazines. They met in homes, and shared their faith.

  They didn't form corporations to hide behind, and hide assets in.

  You don't need a corporation, a building, a printing press, a lawyer or a magazine to have a relationship with God. He's not impressed with any of that.

  Please read what someone posted on Suicide, and tell me what you think

  proplog2.. wrote this on another thread, and i would like to hear from others who may not have had a suicide in their own families to reply as well.

  do you think that the jw religion has at least some blame or bloodguilt over some of the jw suicides?

  i personally know they do, not all cases i am sure, but i know a large amount of them are cult related jw.......... remember we are not talking about just another religion, but a mind controlled cult known as jw's.

  OK, Proplog2, you say you know of 4 JW suicides personally. How many non-JW suicides do you know of personally? I don't think that you can generalize the subject just based on your own experience. It's a big problem in the JW world, and one that they try to hush up, so the fact that you know about 4 personally probably means that there are many more in your area that you don't know about. There have been articles written about JWs and mental illness. So many JWs today are on anti-depressants. The stories written here about suicide among JWs are numerous. In my opinion, if all the stories were compiled, it would speak volumes on the real nature of the organization.

  when i was a good little dub, i remember being in highschool and i had to work on a class project with several other people.

  to work on our project we had to go off campus.

  all the people in my group were boys and one of them volunteered to drive to our project site.

  Just remembered another.... When I was a teenager, I occasionally wore my hair up. I thought it was glamorous. I wore it that way to an assembly. As soon as an older sister from my congregation saw me, she read me the riot act. Told me I was calling attention to myself, and should be ashamed. My feelings were hurt, so I told my dad, who dropped everything to talk to her. In front of me he told her that she was not a spiritual police woman, and that if she had any opinions about the way I dressed, she could either go to him about them, or keep her opinions to herself. He told her that he thought I looked beautiful, and it was up to him to set the rules in our home, not her. My dad was a prominent elder, and she knew she had gone too far. Made my day

  Dad's gone now too...he wasn't your average elder. Miss him...

  My mother had anonymous phone calls from a jw who would call with supposed offenses I had committed. She'd call if she didn't like the way I was dressed or whatever. My mother never said a word to me about these calls. After my mom's death, at an assembly, my best friend overheard a conversation, and said to me, "Well, now I know who all the anonymous phone calls came from" Her mom had received similar calls, and she would get in trouble because of them. Well, the conversation she overheard gave her enough info to put 2 and 2 together, to identify the busy body. She told me that her mom and mine, (and probably everyone else in the cong. had received calls like this.) She told me, because her mom and mine were friends, and discussed this. My mom had said that she could never take the word of someone who didn't have the courage to identify themselves, so she dismissed the calls. It made me sad...I realized I couldn't talk to my mom about it, and thank her for the way she handled it. I miss my mom....

  With all those resources, where does the money go? JWs will say that it goes to the world wide preaching work. Just what does that mean? Most all of the money produced through the literature is sheer profit. Where does it go? They operate no charities, no hospitals or colleges. Where does all this money go? Operational costs? Hardly...not by the looks of the numbers above. Those are just some of the assets.... think about the branches all over the world. In the "Proclaimers" book there's about 50 pages of pictures of the branches. Huge facilities...also the assembly halls, etc... Imagine the wealth represented by all those properties too! Then there's the stocks... Who controls the money??? Where is it??? I would love to research those questions.

  World wide preaching work...Let's see...local congregations pay for their own Kingdom Halls, pay for the literature, CO visits, expenses etc. They also send additional contributions to the borg. So, how does this money go to the world wide preaching work? OK, they probably pay for the travel of missionaries to different parts of the globe, but they don't pay to support them once they are there. I would really like to know where all the money really goes. I'd like to see a list of the share holders...I think it would be very revealing. Just what kind of a religion er...business has share holders anyway????

  i know some have posted similar topics like this, but i thought it might be kind of fun (for the new ones that are coming here in droves) and others, to give some examples of catch phrases etc, that are unique to the jw world.

  here's a few to start:.... "muster up boldness", "sound down into our hearts","satan's crafty acts", "paradisaic", "young ones"," discernment".....these are just a few of the more irritating.

  Do JW's eat meat that contains blood?

  when i joined the jw's in 1987 a jw friend always bought a special brand of pepperoni when he made pizza, because he knew that brand was approved by elders and had no blood in it.

  many witnesses i know seem to eat anything they want, and don't even look at the labels anymore.

  is it possible to eat red meat and eat no blood?.

  Years ago, I can remember my mom reading the labels on dogfood, because we couldn't have our dog eating anything with blood in it. I remember a "question from the readers" regarding medical treatment with leeches. It said in essence that it would not be ok for a Christian to be treated with leeches (used in some countries for cleaning seriously infected areas of the body) because it would encourage the leech to drink blood. Now if it was against God's law to eat blood, why did God design certain animals such as dogs and leeches to eat it in the wild?

  the 6-1-2003 wt is not talking about trevelation prophecy, but is talking about ezekiel and daniel prophecy.

  Wow, am I ever glad I don't have to read, let alone study and learn that bs any more. What a lot of wasted energy! It's going to change again anyway, so why bother learning it in the first place, following men who can't seem to get it straight? All the emphasis on having all the answers (that are bogus anyway) when the answers are not what counts?? No one has all the answers. It's about a relationship, not religion. A relationship with God that doesn't depend on an organization to administer it.. a relationship with God that no one can take away from you.

  So many words, and no substance. Amazes me that I spent 38 years of my life falling for that stuff. Sheesh!

  Another Df'ing/suicide...in memory of a dear friend...

  things have calmed down again with my mother to the point where i found myself once again in her kitchen last night.

  drinking too many cups of coffee as i always do at her house, i imagine if i were a smoker i'd have been lighting one cigarette after another instead.

  it had been a pleasant enough evening, i sat there with my crocheting in my lap, something i always take with me to my mother's house so that if i get nervous or stressed out, my hands, and my mind, have something to do and somewhere to go.

  I am so sorry. Words just aren't enough...

  Stories like this need to be told. Couldn't we somehow compile them? Publish them?The public needs to know how distructive this cult is. It happens to so many JW families. I think if we put our heads together, we could come up with a way to make this public. The stories I've read on this site alone would be enough to fill a volume. I for one, think it needs to be done.

  How Would You Prove That JW's Do Not Have The Truth?

  they believe jehovah god guides them in every possible way.

  they state that all other religions are condemned by god.

  When my son was about 7 years old, an elder's son of the same age came to our house for an afternoon visit. They were playing in the front yard, and a neighborhood boy came over to play too. The elder's son started screaming at the child, telling him that Jehovah didn't love him and he was going to die at armageddon because he wasn't a JW. He screamed at him to leave, that no one wanted him to play. I heard the commotion and went to see what was wrong. The little boy was crying, and the elder's son had this awful look on his face...like he enjoyed the boy's pain. My son looked horrified, and stood there helplessly. I intervened, taking the little boy aside and telling him I would deal with the situation, and that he could come over later that day. I told him we didn't feel that way, and that he was welcome at our home. The elder came, picked up his son, and we never had him over again. I wish I had had the courage then to tell him what I'm going to say here today: Any religion that teaches children to hate is evil. There are no excuses. That child's hatred came directly from his parents, who got it directly from the WT.

  It was one of the first events that began my journey out of the borg.
