I got one on my ankle(a sunflower) when I was still a dub. I covered it with a bandaid and said I cut myself shaving when anyone asked. I also have a band with my initials around my upper arm. I don't think they hurt but I have a high pain tolerance. I think I'll get my nose pierced for my next birthday. Anyone have any piercings?

Tattoo you?

and lately i've been thinking about getting a tattoo somewhere on my body, possiblely my lower back.
my sister has one there and i think it's really cool.

Whats the worst dish you ever served???
by Tez ini am a reasonable cook when i can be bothered (as paulj will hopefully confirm) but often resort to quick and easy methods, packet mixes, tins etc.. whereas my parner is a brilliant cook!!
leave him in the kitchen for a little while and he produces something from scratch that is delicious.
so today i decided to extend my culinary skills!

I made a spicey jalapeno pesto with noodles the day after my husband spent all night praying to the porcilyn gods. Needless to say he wouldn't even try it. I guess I wasn't thinking clearly.

Amazing job Joel and Andrea!!! I'm so proud of you for truly loving your children and protecting them. I am so glad I got out before my children were born and they don't have to grow up in the sewage like I did.

Yeah, I am who I am because of what I have been through. But if I had it to do over again I would have slept with that hot guy who liked me in high school and I would have gone to college. LOL!!! Oh well, I guess I still plan to go to college in a year or so.

JW's never get dfed for being fat? Please don't take this offensively if you are overweight, I'm a little chubby myself. I'm not judging. I have some JW cousins who are morbibly obese. I can't remember the exact scripture but I do recall the bible saying somewhere about not being heavy drinkers and over eaters. So why is it that you can be dfed for abusing your body in other was but not for being fat? Obeseity is fast approaching the #1 killer of Americans. Just something to ponder....

my wife is an ex dub like me.. it certainly helps that she understands why i am the way i am, and the actions of her in - laws.. what about you?

My husband was an atheiest when I met him, which was perfect for me because I knew he would never be dragging me to church. We just recently started attending a church and he is no longer an atheiest. We are perfectly matched and neither of us push our beliefs on the other.

Did being a witness make you lose your social skills?
by AK - Jeff ini am out of the borg now about two years - but can say that i still have no social group in my life to replace them.
i participate in several activities that i consider social in nature - this board as example.
i have some 'acquaintances', but no real social structure in my life.

Hey Jeff, Yeah, I have stuggled socially too. I think that is why so many people just stay with the borg out of fear of feeling so alone if they were to leave. I have just found a great church in the last 3 months to attend. I was very skeptical at first, but I have found this place to be very much like this website, non-judgemental, I can be myself, dress the way I want, participate in as much or as little as I like, attend when I can and the best part is the teachings are from the bible ONLY. No printed up crap from some old dudes back who-knows-where. Anyway, I have rambled enough.

Hi everyone, I was sooooo happy to find this site the other day. I have been free and happy for a little over 6 years now. I too grew up JW, pioneered, blah,blah blah, until around the time I moved out. I had always hoped what I was doing was right but I always had my doubts. In high school I wasn't a perfect JW. I was the only one in my school and I wanted to fit in and have friends so I did. At 16 I got dunked mostly to please my mom, family and everyone. My brother was 2 years older and giving my mom a lot of he??. He was smart and stopped going to meetings, I was stupid and decided to just follow along because I didn't want to cause my mother any more grief. Afterall, she lost my father a few years earlier and was faced with trying to raise 2 teenagers on her own. Anyway, after I moved out I tried to continue but I could never cooperate on the only hang out with other JW's and no worldly friends thing. I've always believed in being nice to everyone and not judge them based on their religion or lack thereof. Got me into a lot of trouble with the elders. WHATEVER. I quit pioneering and started to fade. Never once did the elders call on me to see what was wrong until I married a non-JW. Then they were hot on my tail. Well, about 6 weeks after my wedding, my husband and I were in a car accident and he was killed. The family wanted me to come back to meetings and me being lost and suicidal, I went. I was immediately drug downstairs to have a meeting with the elders and put on PR. I was treated like I was DF by everyone in the cong. No-one gave a sh t that I just lost my husband, oh wait I take that back. I did get a call from the Sister that studied with my mother one night and she told me that's what I get for hurting JoJOba and marring a non-jw. I wonder what she did to jojoba because she lost 3 of her 4 children in a car accident years earlier. Well anyway after trying to do everything the WT way and still being treated like crap for 7 more months, I threw in the towel and gave up the dark side. Fast forward 6 years, I'm now happily married and have a 2 1/2year old and a 6month old. My mom no longer goes to meetings any more and the family that still love me talk to me. The rest of them I don't give a crap about. Sorry this was soo long, but as you all know it was much needed therapy. Have a happy Monday!!
