But if you feel like jacking the whole thing in why would u be so afraid of a letter asking you to sign a form to do that very thing?
Feel the fear and do it anyway.

You'll hear a dry, emotionless talk comprising the following: about 5 mins concerning the person of Jesus Christ and what he experienced on the night of his death, and 40 mins about a complicated and unconvincing doctrine about something to do with the ransom, a little flock, 144,000, new covenant, other sheep, with lots of annoying scripture turning.
All interspersed with some perfunctory prayers, strange silences, very serious and business-like looking men getting up and down, and some nice smelling wine and dried up, flat old bread being passed around, all of which is dutifully ignored by everyone in attendance and handed on without so much as a sip or nibble.
That completely sums it up. -

What do you feel is your greatest achievement?

leaving the witnesses and breaking tradition?

When I was a dub I felt my greatest achievement was to have brought 3 people into the 'truth' (studying right through to baptism).
Now my greatest achievement is winning last year's office golf tournament lol. -

elder: why not?

I wouldn't be so hard on the guy. He actually sounds like a half-decent elder. He is trying to get out there and reach ones who have left, doing what a shepherd is supposed to do (whether or not they want it). At least he is somehow showing he is thinking about you and maybe even cares a little. And isn't it a good thing that he phoned and didn't mention the organisation or meetings once? I suppose I'll get flamed for saying all this.
We hate them when they visit us and hate them when they ignore us. We hate them when they always talk about the organisation and hate them when they don't mention it. The poor bastards can't win. -

Why 1914 Won't Be Abandoned...
by deaconbluez in"crisis of conscience" pointed out a lot of the following:.
jehovah's witnesses simply can't abandon the 1914 teaching because it is too much of a pivotal date on which a major portion of their doctrinal and authority structure rests.
their belief system is tied with 1914 in the following ways:.

Technically you are absolutely right. But as the years keep rolling by I can very easily see them reducing the amount of doctrine attached to the date. Particularly when the remaining old GB die-hards like Jack Barr finally die off (who evidently is a chief stalwart of the date).
They will ever so slowly focus less and less on 1914, gradually dropping certain other dates linked to it (eg, 1919, 1922), until finally 1914 simply becomes something similar to how the Seventh Day Adventists view 1844: a date when Jesus returned and did an 'investigative judgement', 'spiritually inspecting' Christendom and appointed the Watchtower Society as his sole channel (based on their overall better level of doctrinal purity from Babylonish dogma than broader Christendom). By doing that they can even drop the absurd teaching that the kingdom started ruling in 1914 and shift all of that into the future while retaining their full authority over the organisation. The great majority of JW's would totally buy this. Piece of cake!
So no, they will never drop the date. It will just mutate. -

"When the Israelites left Egypt many alien residents (non-Israelites) left with them. They were not a part of the Mosaic covenant, but could benefit by aligning themselves to the nation of Israel. They were also under obligation to keep all the laws including celebrating the Passover. (Ex. 12: 14-19)"
If you sincerely want to get to the bottom of it then do some research into the above. Your mother has apparently missed an obvious contradiction in her above statement: she is correct that the alien residents actually celebrated the passover. If the 'great crowd' are the modern day equivalent to the 'alien residents', and the alien residents actually PARTOOK of the passover meal just the same as the Israelites did, then how can it be that the great crowd are prevented from PARTAKING of the emblems at the memorial, (whether or not they are in the new covenant)?
Ask her that. -

GB makes exception
by sspo inhave some of you ever seen in the organization a minesterial servant that misses meetings for weeks at a time, hardly ever preaches.
shows up occasionally for sunday meeting.
when you mention his name to other servants , no one wants to talk about it.. the reason the elders and the co don't remove him is that once a year the society needs him at bethel since he is licensed in certain trades.

Nope never heard of that. If the MS becomes irregular in his field service he will definitely be dumped, no matter what his other skills are.

Today's Text is Scriptural Blasphemy
by gumby inhey gang, this morning as i was making some coffee i saw the "text book" lying there and decided i'd read todays text as i never do, just to see what it had to say.. it was taken from john 15:12 which says..... " this is my commandment, that you love one another just as i have loved you".. anyways, it goes on to say what jesus told his diciples who asked him which was the greatest of all the commandments and jesus answered them that "you must love god with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself".
then it went on to ask if this law was also important to christians today and the comment was.... ( and heres the kicker) "absolutely, the law of christ involves a heartfelt love of god and includes a new command.....christians are to have a self sacrificing love for one another".. so rather than say christians are to love your fellowman, they twist the scripture and say christians are to love other christians.......and we all know by that statement they mean other jehovah's witnesses since they hold no regard for christians of this world.
yes, once again they play mind tricks on the publishers and tell them to love each other...rather than your fellowman and people of this world in general as was the case in the illustration jesus himself gave with the good samaritan.. it's no wonder jehovah's witnesses are despised by many in this world with their self rightous attitudes and beliefs regarding their fellowman that is induced in them by a few old men from brooklyn new york.. i hope your reading this wtbts spies, i really do.

Arthur said: "One example of this is the term "spiritual pornography". This term sounds down right repulsive and it evokes a very visceral reaction just upon hearing it. But, what does it really mean? According to WT publications, it means any material (in print or electronic) which is critical of the Watchtower Society. In fact, any material which makes observations about the WTS that is less than flattering would fit under this term."
I've never heard the Society use the term 'spiritual pornography' and your definition of it. Where are you getting this from Arthur? Quotes please. -

Its pleasing to see so much emphasis on Jesus. This is extraordinary for JW's.
The theme of the public talk is disappointing though. Obviously it is going to be a rant about how JW's are so much better than other 'Christians'. They cannot resist bashing other Christians and elevating the organisation.
Using the words 'the Christ' instead of just Jesus or Christ is very suspicious. No doubt they are going to apply this term to the FDS/GB and use it as a submission tool.
