Heard a rumour that the Society is working on an 'anti-apostate' software programme for JW's to purchase thru the congregation and instal on their home PC's to block access to apostate websites. It will be based on standard anti-porn software and on the 500 most commonly used words on apostate websites.

Tee shirt with foolish WT quotes, I will wear to reunion with witnesses
by dawg inas many of you know, i've been writing letters to family members telling them how damn stupid i think the gb is; providing proofs of all their comedic gaffs (building mansions for prophets and the like) including some of their most outlandish quotes-which i know all of us can remember verbatim.
spurned on by mary and others in this site, i've decided that i will try a new ploy.
my family reunion is every labor day and i've decided to wear a tee shirt to it with russell, rutherford, and franz's images on it... i will include images of a pyramid, beth sarim, on the front and 607?

How about the quote where worldly people are compared to rats who need exterminating at Armageddon.

It's fascinated me to see older ones in other churches I've visited who still seem to have that gleam in their eyes, that vivaciousness and joy somehow. I think the reason is because their joy is in Jesus Christ and not in the 'end of the system'. Many other religions hope that Jesus will return soon but they do not constantly harp on about the end of the world like the JW's do. The reason for many older JW's being so clapped out and morose is because their focus has been all wrong. JW's are entirely focused on working hard to earn life in an earthly paradise which is always so very near, whereas most other Christians find their worship refreshing because it is focused on the person of Jesus and trying to imitate his love and kindness, etc, so when he returns is just a side point.

Why did you want to be an elder?
by ThomasCovenant ini'm curious to know reasons for wanting to be an elder?.
some have expressed to me they wanted to use their abilities to help others.. another said he wanted to be in the inner circle to make sure he was able to look after his families' interests in the event of any future mishaps by his children.. i think many just get caught in the web of handling microphones, then ministerial servant then elder.. i know it's easy for me to say as i wasn't any of these (apart from microphones) but .
i can't help thinking for most men it is simply helping to fulfill a desire for more power.. many don't seem content to be viewed as a mere publisher but want to get in on the action, knowing all the gossip and being involved on decisions.. is it true that deep down, even though most may have good motives, it is still out of a feeling of self importance.. thanks .

I never wanted to be one in reality because of all the responsibility and I'd seen a lot of younger guys burn out, but the prestige aspect really appealed because I'd known a few dweeby elders who managed to get quite hot sisters simply because they had the status of being an elder and could give decent talks. A lot of sisters (the librarian types who were foxes underneath) only seemed interested in organisationally ambitious types.

1 Tim 3:1-10 promotes an organisation
by besty inspeaking with a hardline friend (oxymoron alert) tonight he used the above verse as proof that jehovah needs a hierarchical organization - otherwise why stratify the membership?
any refutation?
cheers .

Narkissos just wondering what scriptures back up your comment here: "and the presbuteroi (presbyters-"elders") being derived from the apostles".
What exactly do you mean 'derived' from the apostles?
I think a big difference to keep in mind with 1 Tim 3:1-10 is that it is talking about a CONGREGATIONAL arrangement for the smooth and orderly running of things. We could say it is a blueprint at the micro (congregational) level, not at any macro level (worldwide/organisational). Paul's words here don't directly suggest a headquarters v congregations link. Other than Paul's obvious desire to see that what he and the apostles handed on to the congregations was upheld, there is nothing to justify the highly centralised, thoroughly top-down control system that exists in the JW organisation (at all levels of teaching and policy). There isn't any evidence in scripture that I'm aware of of a tight, controlled relationship between the congregations and to the apostles and older men (in Jerusalem). The apostles occasionally issued 'decrees' to the congregations (that appear to be more administrative than anything) and they and the other eyewitnesses evidently travelled around the congregations to prevent the corruption of the message and they sometimes recommended certain individuals, but that is a far cry from the ultra heirarchical and layered structure perpetuated up by the Watchtower Society.
Oh, and of course the GB is not even close to having the authority of the apostles. Technically the GB have no more spiritual authority than anyone else of the FDS class but JW's have been brainwashed into imagining that the GB are for all intents and purposes modern day apostles having a unique, special link with Jehovah. -

If Armageddon Is Soooooo Close, Why Does The Society Spend $$$ On Buildings
by minimus inand assembly halls and expansion??
seems like a waste to me!

Because the GB believes that Jehovah is going to preserve their little property empire right through Armageddon into the new system, while the rest of the world around them crumbles in ruins. Kinda reminds me of the parable of the rich man who decided to build more and more storehouses, laying up good things for himself, not knowing that he was to die that very night.
I'd imagine their property empire will come to a grinding halt shortly after 2014 when a critical mass of JW's start to realise that the emperor has no clothes on. -

They use this expression just about every year. It is just a general expression meaning that if you attend you'll greatly benefit from what you hear. It's all vital to them. Yawn.

the Pioneer Service Application
by R.F. ini remember when filling this out some time back that one of the questions it had was something along the lines of......... "do you trust in the "faithful and discreet slave" and recognize it as god's sole channel of spiritual truth?.
someone correct for any needed changes to that question.... why ask prospective pioneers this?.
is there any other reason or something pertaining to any legal ramifications as to why they would ask this?.
-

Since 100% unquestioned submission to the FDS (=Watchtower Society) is the foundation cornerstone of being a JW then why wouldn't they ask it?
In reply I would write on the form Psalm 146:3 -

When Did You Start Feeling Uncomfortable In The Truth?
by The wanderer in<!-- .style1 { font-family: arial; font-size: 18px; } .style2 { font-family: arial; font-size: 16px; color: #0033cc; } .style3 { font-family: verdana, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; } .style4 {color: #0033cc} --> when did you start feeling uncomfortable in the truth?it started out for me by asking questions out of curiosity, which eventually led me.
out of the organization.
my history as a jehovahs witness could easily be summed .

When they changed the 'generation' teaching in 1995. I never accepted that 'new light' so did some research and soon learned that the entire 1914 chronology and morass of Watchtower prophecy related to 1914 is false. Thus I completely lost my trust/faith in the Watchtower Society and decided I could no longer slave for an organisation run by some old geezers who are as blind about bible prophecy as any other religious group is. That's when I began my very slow fade.

The Watchtower Society's "Spiritual Paradise"
by Honesty inthere are 729 references to the "spiritual paradise" on the 2006 watchtower library on cd.. .
when you were one of jehovah's witness what was it like to live in this "spiritual paradise"?.
we would enjoy hearing about your daily walk with god the faithful slave (genesis 5:22,24; genesis 6:9) and how refreshed you felt at the end of each glorious day in paradise..

Its easy to have a spiritual paradise when you boot out anyone who thinks otherwise.
