Great story! I am still amazed at how much of your family you have been able to save. So many of us have family that do the standard "oh it's just a date. you can't get hung up on dates." BULLS**T!! This date stuff rocks the org to it's very core and foundation IMO. My father is starting to see the lie with all this stuff. He told me a few weeks ago that it does no good to share this info. with the majority of JW's because the truth about this stuff has always been there, but the individual has to be READY to hear it! SO TRUE!!
Keep us posted. I really don't see how you all can escape DFing for apostasy though........
till your next installment, I'll be waiting excitedly!

Another Elder bites the dust!!!!
by Lady Liberty inmy sister and her husband finally told a elder friend of theirs why they have been absent from the meetings for all these months.
) our family has chosen to only use the 607 issue when dealing with the elders.
because it seems to be the only issue they cannot answer!

Telling a Friend I Don't Want to Go to Meetings Anymore
by Good Girl or Bad Girl? ini have a very close friend, who has been a mentor to me for years, who has never judged me in spite of things i've been through.
she is nearly 35 years older than me but we have a kindred spirit.
she is a very devout jw and i believe she always will be.

you have received a lot of good advice here. You are right though - this will probably be the hardest thing you've ever been through. You ARE strong ENOUGH to go through it though!
I too, have such a hard time trying not to "hurt" or "stumble" others. here's my experience so far. I've tried to explain my side of things to a few, and I mean few, as in 1 or 2, and what happens is if you try to explain your feelings you are attacking their religion, but if you avoid phone calls, and conversations they are offended that you wouldn't talk to them about your issues. It's a no-win situation. As far as I can tell, they are going to be upset with you no matter what. If your desire is to truly fade away quietly, I would just not give them any legitimate reasons to call you into an elders meeting, especially for apostasy!
Here's another piece of advice someone gave me that really helped. They can ask all the questions they want, you ARE NOT obligated to answer all of them! You have a right to your own privacy and your own thoughts without having to share them with people who will criticize you for it.
If your friend really presses you, maybe just express your love and affection for her, but ask her to give you the respect of wanting to sort some things out privately. If she is offended remember, you ARE NOT responsible for her reaction. She can chose to give you the space and respect of privacy or she can try to guilt you into talking. It will truly test your friendship for sure. Unfortunately, the people I thought I'd be able to talk to are the ones that have treated me the worst. :( Sorry, but maybe knowing this will help you prepare for either outcome.
We are here for you, and TOTALLY understand where you are coming from..... -

CO-HABITING makes women FAT
by hamsterbait ina recent study published today says that women who marry or move in with a partner start to pile on the pounds?.
i wonder if the saying is true - "a single woman gets home from work exhausted.
looks at what's in the refridgerator and goes to bed.

My hubby (ITIS) used to call it P.M.E. - post marital expansion! lol!
He said you could tell the girls that would get PME. He is so happy that didn't happen to me. We both watch our weight and waistlines. -

digging in old books
by digglina ini'm new on this board and currently an inactive jw.

Welcome to the board!
What a cool thing to own, all those old books. If you ever fall on hard time you can e-bay them for some mad money!
there was a post on here about a week ago and Leolaia posted all these old scans where Rutherford just bashes Jewish people. Crazy bigot comments from him. It was unbelievable.
I remember in our congregation growning up we actually had framed posters that the society made that had the pyramids on them and all the info. Russell had to show how he calculated things using the pyramid measurements. I remember being fascinated by those posters. They were old and just seemed so "magical" or something to my 5 year old brain. I wonder what ever happened to those posters....... -

To all Active JW's on the board
by UNCLEAR inas you are all aware i am new to the board, this is my third topic post.
since i have come online and expressed some concerns regarding docturnal issues, i have been pm'd by several active jw's on the board pretending to have concerns also but then sending pm's to "trust in the congregation and jevovah", "talk to the elders about your concerns" and "stick close to the congregation".
i would like to make this known loud and clear -

you have been through some stuff sweety.
I'm so sorry you've been treated the way you have.
You are 100% right. I also asked questions about things that didn't make sense to me and it was turned back on ME. That I was being influenced, or faultfinding, or being critical. BULLS**T! It was a true eyeopener for me to ask the elders and see the response I got back.
Hold you head high. You had respect for yourself and are making the changes necessary to move on in your life - for the betterment of you and your son!
much love to you - freedomlover -

Welcome to the board! You are very brave and level-headed IMO. To be this wise and brave at 16 is amazing to me.
I agree with Jgnat. Start your plan now. Get a bank account, a job, start saving some money. Make some non-witness friends. You are going to need outside contacts when you do make the separation.
I wish you all the best in this journey ahead of you. It will most likely be difficult to say the least, but it's so worth it in the end. Live your life, because it is YOUR life!

Rank and Baseless New Light speculation
by FreeWilly inwarning, conspiracy theory ahead!
in the past few years we've seen a few of the old-school anointed gb members pass away.
given the fact that major organizational issues are decided by a vote within the gb, i wonder if the balance of power is shifting.
-
freedomlover
I agree with XBEHERE - I don't think there will be any major doctrinal changes any time soon. They will probably tweek a few and then spin it that the "light" has gotten even brighter being SO CLOSE to the end. Even if they made a major slip up the majority will not exit. Remember "perfect organization run by imperfect men?" sound familiar?
IF, and I mean a big IF, there was some sort of exodus they would spin it to "the love of the greater number cooling off." And most dubs would nod in agreement at how perfectly the GB predicted that prophecy!
I don't want to rain on your parade or anything but I think a lot of this is HOPEFUL speculation. IMO, the majority of witnesses will never leave. You can always hope though, right?! -

JWs and the movie "The Village"
by jstalin ini was thinking, on my way to work this morning, that the movie the village is a lot like the jws.
in the movie, several families live in a false 1800s village in the middle of the forest that only a few people knew was fake.
in order to keep the villagers in line, they created a fake monster that would roam the woods at night and scare the crap out of people, so no one dared leave.

same with me LIlly - saw it when I was "in" still and it didn't ring any bells, but once the fog lifted - oh man - the similarities were unbelievable!

I think I need a doctors note before I send any more naked shots, just to make sure your not making all this up just to get naked pics of apostababes!
