I experienced a Jewish Shabbat Service tonight!
by Billygoat inmy very best friend, casey, is a member of a local baptist church.
her church is similar to mine, known to be a very liberal baptist church, holding very loosely to the "baptist traditions" and holding more tightly to the life of christ and his example set for us.
the other day she invited me to an interfaith shabbat service held at a reformed jewish temple.

Burlington N.C. newspaper does article on JWs and Bood
by THE SHOOTIST inmy uncle told me that the burlington, n.c. daily times news did an extensive article on jws and blood transfusions that was supposed to put them in a negative light.
he said it talked about lots of witnesses dying unnecessarily and law suits.
he has a tendency to exaggerate things, so i'm asking if anyone on the board saw this article and was the article in any of the local newspapers in your areas?

Marriage - Why bother?
by Spectrum inyet another friend's marriage has broken down(5th), this one i did not predict at all.
it came as a shock to me.
they got married after 10 years of living together so it's not like they didn't know each other.

perhaps if more puritanical types had sex before marriage, they would avoid so many divorces, or years and years of living in denial, or abusive situations.
I actually had a conversation recently with a JW mom who's 18 year old daughter is engaged and quitting school to get married.... she said " I wish these girls could just have sex once before they get married and then they'd realize it's not worth getting married for!!" ha ha ha - I had to laugh. I completely agree. tetra - interesting ideas on marriage. it's really not just a piece of paper - but I knew what you meant...... cool ideas though. I always like to have my ideas challenged. live your life man. hope you're having a blast doing it.

Did the elders ask for sexual details at your Judicial meeting?

i personally know of two cases where the witness being disfellowshipped was asked to provide excruciating details about the exact nature of the "sex crime" that they had committed.. having read the secret elders manual "pay attention to yourselves and all the flock" i know this is standard operating procedure for a judicial hearing.
for those that were disfellowshipped for a "sex crime"

holy crap you guys - this thread is revolting. I never had to sit through a JC but I've heard stories. It's just so unbelievable what some of these guys ask.
Forshcer - your story made me want to vomit. that girl was raped twice. by the perp and the elders.
they all deserve to be castrated for their nastiness.......

Does it ever stop?

in a way i guess it's good, i've been thinking about doing something different for a while now, this kind of forces my hand...but the pressure sucks.. one month to go...

Quick Way To Shoo Away JWs
by Bstndance inso last weekend i'm heading out of my apartment for a lunch date.
as i am walking down the sidewalk to my car, two men in suits with bookbags walking towards me try to start a conversation by saying "excuse me" with big smiles.
i just walked by them and said "i'm an apostate".

Blondie, more specific please. Do I write a letter and mass mail it to all docs in the area? Do I copy the original article and send it to the local newspaper? Is this article going to be run in the local paper where that lawyer is? Ft. Myers FL I think it was? Do we send this info. to bigger fish like Dateline? 20/20?
I'll be the first to admit that the JW's really are small potatoes in the grand scheme of things. But if something like this can keep turning up here and there it may grow into something pretty big.
