i have so many cards now trev will have to put another shelf up to display them all.
it's great to be here at home to receive them myself as well, i have been in hospital when all the others have arrived, so thank you all so much for all your good wishes.

I am feeling tired as ever today, but the nausea symptoms aren't as bad this week, and I am at least at home rather than in hospital I even had fun getting over the nausea this time, with a couple of joints lol! Believe me, they are more effective than anything they give you at hospital, and the side effects are more interesting.

to explain this thread i need to tell a sad and horrific story about someone that was once a friend...............for the sake of privacy i will refer to her as carol.. i met carol in the about 1990. i was not a jw (had left when i was 16 and unbaptised).
i was suffering with panic attacks, i think for many reasons but mainly because i had recently lost my dad and took it very hard.
i lived with my then boyfriend, who later became my husband in a town in south yorkshire.

It does seem that the most positive portion of her life was the time she spent as a jw, and she got back into her old ways after being df'd, I agree with you about the jws lack of having a genuine support system to help those who get into these type of situations. It is one of their major failings, in my opinion, that they seek to punish rather than support anyone who breaks their rules. It's an unloving, unchristian way to behave for an organisation purportedly based on love for one another, but they sometimes seem to almost enjoy kicking those who are down rather than doing anything to help them get back up.
The jws may have helped her to escape her past life, but by their treatment of her I feel they contributed to her decision to return to it as well.

i have been emailing with a sister in my congregation regarding the qfr.
i told her i wasn't discussing it with most jws, because i didn't want to hear any of their "new light" garbage.
i told her this isn't new light; this just means that what we paraded out in 1935 as "new light" was wrong.. she sheepishly (no pun intended) agreed.
The governing body have trashed Rutherford's teaching that 1935 was the end of the gathering of the 144,000 and after that only "other sheep" and replacements for the 144,000 would be "gathered".
So the GB say now the cutoff never occurred and 144,000 are still being gathered.
It sounds like just another of their many excuses to explain why armageddon han't come yet. They are once again postponing it in the minds of jws, who "know" that the 144,000 have to be gathered before the end comes. What deceivers they are! And the sad fact is, a lot of jws will hardly notice the change, or at least realise the significance of it.
my non jw aunt has died and attending the funeral will be many non witness family and friends and also jw family.
they have caused a lot of hurt these past couple of years and they have given a really "bad witness" (im really glad).
they are so pious, because they "make a stand " at every oppurtunity they can and act like spirtual polise this really pisses my non jw family off, but they put up with it.. well my aunt wanted "morning has broken" sung at the funeral and yes youve guessed it they have already said that they will not join in cos its a hymn.

As for your jw relatives, let them do as they will. Ratehr than "making a stand" by not singing your aunt's chosen hymn, they will make themselves look ignorant, spiteful, arrogant dogmatic and foolish. I hope the non jws take note of their behaviour, and remember it next time jws call on them.

i simply gradually quit going.
of course, this was many years ago and maybe the "rules" have changed, but rather than create drama among my family, i just let them think i was becoming materialistic and spiritually weak.
at least it kept them talking and associating with me rather than cutting me off.
I da'd because I wanted to be totally free of the cult. I didn't want the elders calling on me to see why I was missing meetings, so I wrote a simple letter requesting no further visits from them.
I also didn't want even the slightest connection with an organisation that shields paedophiles.
remember this, that i was the one requesting that our views and opinions should be more openly expressed to others and a way of communicate other than what god has provided, i am a proficent writter with 4-5years expressing how i feel to others through this communication... i did meet something in the backyard when i was 5yrs old and at that moment i vowed to have peace in my life, forever paradise for my heart.
i am glad you have opened this up for everyone to expirence a unification through words, words like, "and in the beggining the word was god and god was the word.
" i know sometimes i change how these words are but the way i feel inside sometimes my heart expresses it differently... a child unlike any other making changes in the world because thier was a child who saw a problem with this world, and to just reach out and maby touch the missled to just show a little.

its sometimes hard for us ex-dubs to share our stories and even harder for those who can't leave the organization and need to vent.
i would encourage all those with a story to tell to do so, i'd really enjoy reading it as i do already read the stories you all shared.. i grew up without my dad and almost without my mum since she was always out drinking or doing something else.
we've been homeless and without money, for years no one in the family had a telephone and my dad offered the sum total of 1.50 a week in child support before running away to american for a few years, abandoning his responsibilities (which he successfully evaded right up to me being too old to need or want his help).

okay, so i'm going to be seeing my parents before long.
they are both solid jw's.
i have been a baptist for over 5 years now, and during that time i've found lots of verses in the nwt that are translated incorrectly.
