  i just sent this letter to a jw who came knocking on my door talking to me about 1914. i doubt it does him much good since he will probably not read it.

  first, you assume that when christ spoke of the the times of the gentiles he was referring to a period of time which began when jerusalem was destroyed by babylon and would end with his enthronement in heaven.

  ), the year in which the bible tells us that he destroyed jerusalem.

  I wonder if this is some sort of backlash to the case of Eunice Spry, the jw who was jailed for abusing her foster children? She was sentenced last week, so the case was back in the news.

  I say this because, when the case first made the news, a kh in Derby was attacked. Someone rammed the gates to the car park, which have had to be replaced, but did no damage to the kh itself, apart from throwing some eggs at the door and walls. We heard this from a friend of Trev's whose father is a jw. We were told that the attackers left newspapers on the scene with the Eunice Spry case highlighted, and a few comments written underneath.

  We didn't see a report on it in the local paper, though one apparently appeared, but it happened around the time I was in hospital, so we didn't read a lot of local news then.

  Aus Bethel 06 Annual Report - INCREDIBLE 50% DECREASE in donations

  i just purchased the 2006 annual report for the australian watchtower bible and tract society.

  below are the highlights.

  most incredible is that donations dropped by almost 50%, from 15 million dollars to only 10 million dollars.

  I certainly did.

  I gave up my ambitions career-wise to pioneer, and gave up my then boyfriend as he didn't want to be a jw. I always thought I'd have a fulfilling life and a "perfect" husband in the paradise. It took me 25 years to wake up to reality.

  i am new to this forum, and am just starting to get over the guilt of reading posts here.

  i was raised as a witness, was disfellowshipped last year.

  all my brothers and sister left too, so my parents were devastated when i left, as i was the only one left going to meetings.

  I am very glad to see you here.

  I am sorry to read of your mums illness, but don't let that persuade you to go back to the wts when it is clearly something you don't want to do. From her perspective, losing all of her children to "the world" is a disaster, and she would gain some comfort if one of them took steps to return. Perhaps that is why she is getting at you now to take steps to become a jw again, she may see you as the best prospect among the family, as you were the last one to leave.

  there is a jw that works where i do at the hospitol.. she brought a patient to my desk and looked right through me.......spoke to the woman next to me and went on.. well, i thought she might not have recognized who i was (these new glasses).

  today i was approaching her in the hall and she saw me and looked the other way.........i waved at her and said heeeay!

  and smiled real big.....as i was passing her.

  I will survive with those who are open minded and loving.

  They are the best people to be with purps, the ones you can rely on for a kind word, deed or thought.

  You identify with those type of people because you are one of them. If a few narrow-minded jws take it upon themselves to shun you, it is their loss, not yours.

  He told me he loves me and wants to marry me if I become a Witness.

  That sounds like conditional love to me, whatever else he has said. And his comment about dating you in secret if you don't become a jw - do you really want to live the rest of your life like that? I now I wouldn't.

  Hard as it may be to accept right now, it's time to move on Emily. You deserve much more than this man is prepared to offer you, regardless of his declarations of love. Making a clean break now, hurtful as it may be, will save you from potentially years of heartache.

  Just how low are these people prepared to stoop in pursuit of $$? I wonder what the "Holocaust education" they have in mind would be? A two-page article in the awake perhaps?

  Did they actually get any money out of this, or are they likely to? I would hope not.
