  What is the most damning watchtower publication?

  i want to purchase a couple of vintage watchtower publications to help in my helping jw's break free.

  some of the older ones are expensive or hard to come by - i know you can buy them on cd's but i'd like to own one or two of the "classics of propaganda"- some of the ones that speak for themselves as to the ridiculousness of this religion.. of course any magazine i pick up today speaks to me of the ridiculousness, but you need something much more hardcore for the jw's.. any recommendations?.

  Well, just for a start - if your son showed up with a 5 year old kid and told you that this was your granddaughter - wouldn't you just possibly want to meet the mother?

  As I recall the book - there is nothing "apostate" about it.

  It is simply a pure bible commentary, but without the usual Watchtower judgementalism and organizational spin.

  jw leaks has just published the financial records for watch tower bible and tract society of pennsylvania for the years 1995 through 1998 in pdf.. these form just some of the records that were required to be lodged in britain as part of the legal requirements relating to the establishment of an overseas branch of the watch tower society in britain in 1993.. also published by jw leaks are a copy of the original 8 page "certificate of registration of an oversea company" and application lodged with the registrar of companies for england and wales for the registration of "watch tower bible and tract society" in britain.. on november 1, 1999, watch tower bible and tract society of pennsylvania closed their overseas branch in britain.

  a copy of the "closure form" has also been published.

  this closure was done following the registration of "watch tower bible and tract society of britain" a few weeks earlier.. documents relating to the watch tower bible and tract society of pennsylvania can be download at:.

  There are two factors involved:

  First - the simple burnout that occurs because we were in a high-control religious cult. I know that I was just plain sick of all religion when I had finally gotten totally free and clear.

  Second - when you do enough research (and most witnesses who leave do a lot of research) - most exiting witnesses have discovered that the other religions also have cracks in their foundations.

  I would estimate that about 75% (or very possibly more) of people that leave the witnesses never join another religion. I would say that at least 50% give up conventional faith in unseen gods.

  mine is rutherford.

  the bible student movement of russell was badly splintered after the usurpation and was destined to fade away like the other russellite movements.

  then judge joe decides to rebrand with 'jehovah's witnesses' and concieves of many different schemes designed to put his people into danger and gaining publicity for a sect that no one really thought about any more.

  I have to agree Rutherford should probably win the poll. But I do think Russell was a rather more sinister character than many like to imagine.

  I agree with Slimboyfat on this - we tend to overlook the gross dishonesty of Russell in view of the certainly horrible actions of Rutherford.

  How can you expect anything other than what the Witnesses are today - when you consider the very faulty foundation on which they were built?

  One "amusing" aspect of this is that the widow is attempting to run away from this as fast as she can - to avoid being labelled as a radicalized Islamic. The body was apparantly claimed by the uncle - and now no cemetary wants him buried in their confines. Meanwhile, the FBI seems to be highly suspicious about her knowledge of the bombing and subsequent communication with him after the attack.

  I don't blame them - an issue exists about the dignity of the other people buried in these cemetaries, and possible demonstrations, graffiti, etc.

  Put him in an unmarked grave in some other state and let him be forgotten - it was good enough for Judge Rutherford.
