three years ago today i joined this forum.
i remember the day becaue i was quite angry with my parents.
their continued attempts to take my kids to the meeting and give them litterature was really getting to me.
Three years... I had to double check your math - I'd have sworn it was longer. That means it's been nearly three years since I first got to meet you in person (and several others). You were prob'ly there if you can remember a Dallas fest with less than 20 people.

our 8-year-old son, jackson, is exhibiting the following symptoms:.
* disorganized (unfortunately, this has kind of been since birth but more pronounced now).
* hard to concentrate.
Nina, except for the illnesses and asthma, you've described my 11 year old son to a t. Including the allergies, though.
Clay has A.D.D. Though we put it off for a long time, finally we tried ritalin (only during school), and it did help some. This year though, he wanted to try without it, and he's making it work so far. It does get frustrating sometimes, stacks of homework every night, forgetting his homework or his lunch or something everytime you turn around... But I can say that it seems to slowly get better with time.
I too, would like to hear from anyone else that has dealt with it. Anything we could do to help him would be great.

why should we refrain from whatever brings the "greatest" personal pleasure to our measured and time-limited existence?
It's the golden rule, my friend - Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
Which means to me; respect. As long as we (whether as individuals or as a society) can respect others - their rights, their beliefs, their property, and their person, we can (hopefully) expect them to do the same to us. If mutual respect is present, then we can expect order to prevail. When respect is lost (or was never there to begin with) then chaos is bound to follow.
Some people (or groups of people) may respect certain rules or laws only because they fear the punishment that would (or could) result from violating them. Others (hopefully most people) respect because they know it's "the right thing to do" and because they desire the order that results from nutual respect.

i asked the wife today, at the district, what the reasoning was for asking the rank and file to stay in for lunch, and not purchase the lunch elsewhere.
she stated that the reason was that some venues want the witnesses to purchase lunch from their concessions.
anyone else heard this??
I've got to differ with you there, LL. I'd be willing to bet that the WT pays a premium to get venues without concessions.
I've never rented a stadium or other venue of that size, but I have been involved in renting smaller arenas many times, and they all come with their own concessions, and specifically do not allow anyone else to serve food on their site. And we've tried renting them without concessions - most won't do it at all, because they have a contract with someone to provide concessions for ALL events. If the venue violates this contract with their concession providers, they have to pay, therefore the event has to pay.

hi gang, i am trying to decide whether or not to just lay around the pool on friday morning and afternoon or do a walking tour of the downtown.
i believe if we hung around the hotel on friday we could be there to meet and greet those arriving.
we could always tour downtown dallas on saturday, however i heard that several of you are planning on saturday to be the pool day.

Junction Guy, I haven't tried 'em all, but I can recommend Risky's BBQ and Risky's Steakhouse. Both are excellent, and real close to Billy Bob's....
