I recall that the risk of death was mentioned as a consideration, with the implication that cosmetic surgery was frivolous. (This excludes cosmetic surgery after burns or accidents, etc.)

Help settle a debate. Internet relationships...
by esw1966 ina stay at home dad posted on craig's list that he was looking for platonic email correspondance with a lady, someone to talk about life with, insights into relationships, a reason to turn on the computer in the morning et cetera....... my fiance occasionally finds herself seeking relationships with select people online and getting into soulful conversations with them.
she feels that people can be their truest selves in these moments.
to share the quirks of life with random fellow americans is somehow thrilling to her.

I'd tell her to find a woman rather than a man.

Lessons Learned from Captain Jack Sparrow
by zagor ini've found this article that rang so true to me.
i share as sacred just about everything described, though in last few months i've found myself betraying my own values.
so i'm glad i found this reminder, these are defintely going on my wall as my own 20 commandments.

HI Zagor, Thanks for posting this. I too wondered about the Captain's magnetism, beyond Depp's brown eyes.

Anybody a member of AAA? Would you recommend it?
by AlmostAtheist ini'm thinking about joining the aaa auto club.
my car is getting along in years and isn't going to get replaced any time soon.
i'm imagining that my stranded-on-the-side-of-the-road moment is imminent.

I would recommend AAA for the same reasons the others have: roadside assistance, free maps, tourbooks (hotel ratings especially), trip planning, discounts.
When we bought my daughter's car, she also got roadside assistance. The battery died early Sunday morning. We called her service. They said they'd be there in 1.5 hours. We called AAA, they were there in 15 minutes. -

Online Dating etiquette
by serendipity ini ran across this info and thought it would be good to share since there are some here who are using online dating sites like match and plentyoffish.
i've been a bit surprised by some of the men emailing me, demonstrating that this info is not common knowledge.
(i'm not suggesting that men alone are guilty.

Megadude should just show his pic, rather than Brad's. He's WAY hotter. ;-)

those that chose to be in....not born in
by purplesofa inof all the things i have read on this board, i never really thought of jw's as being a cult, .
just some paragraphs out of combatting cult mind control by steven hassan, the perspective for me has changed.. pages 69, 70 and 71.....selected paragraphs.. sensory overload like sensory deprivation, also effectively distrupts a person's balance and makes him more open to suggestion.
a person can be bombarded by emotionally laden material at a rate faster than he can digest.

Hi purps, When I get the book, I plan to determine if first century Christianity was a cult, by his criteria.

'I love you'
by Zico inyesterday, i came to the realisation, that nobody has ever said these words to me, least not that i can remember, which was a temporarily devastating moment for me.
this began with my father.
spotting him in front of the tv in his favourite chair, i walked over and came out with the words 'i love you' it felt very weird, because i think it may be the first time i've ever said these words myself, but i'm going to blame my upbringing on this.

Hi Zico, Good for you! Keep trying and they'll probably come around.

HI ex JW,
I'd give it a week, then email again. Mention your vacation and previous email and ask about meeting. Short and sweet. If he doesn't reply to that one, he's not interested, or he's busy.
I wouldn't show up at his workplace, though. -

Hi frozen, I had a big problem a few weeks back. I downloaded avast antivirus software (free) and ran it. That took care of the problem.
