I also had my email locked early because I wanted to protect my identity, but after awhile I just figured "screw it" and opened it up so that if anyone wanted to contact me off the forum, they could do so. I have only gotten a couple of emails since I unlocked it though, so it hasn't been a problem as far as "spam" is concerned. For me personally, I don't mind communicating with others and I strive to keep open as many avenues as possible.

you know
by SpiderMonkey inhello... i've been away from here for awhile, and probably will not be getting very involved here again, but some things have got me wondering lately.
i don't know if you know's still around, but, if so, i have a couple of questions.. you know: correct me if i'm wrong, but i seem to remember your saying that you'd read ray franz' book "crisis of conscience.
" i'm not going to debate the propriety of your doing so, as one of jehovah's witnesses, but i'm very interested in what you think of his reasoning on various points.

Yadirf, are you really an apostate? Because you probably do more to get people to leave the organization than the direct atacks of those who offer hard facts. I mean that circular "playground reasoning" you used was classic, you sly little devil! You sure did show us the "truth"!

Looking at it through a JW's eyes..
by kelsey007 inscandels and dissention were prevelant in the early christian congregations.
it was fortold that wickedness would penatrate the brotherhood as the end approached.
(so therefore they have pediphiles) given 9-11 and the threats of war and on and on and on (not to mention the hurricanes) all this only means the end is fastly approaching.

Being a Jehovah's Witness is like your mind being trapped in a Chinese finger puzzle. The harder things get the "stronger" you are in the "truth". Things which might cause a normal person to doubt or start looking into things or think that things are not actually what they seem have the opposite effect and strengthen the faith that the loyal dubs have in their religion. They have been conditioned to feel this way and add to that the ultimate power that the org has over them, that of their everlasting life and you have a mind holding the key to its own locked cell, but to them its the only place thats "safe".

Moe!
I didn't get to know you very well before you left a couple of months ago, but from what I did learn about you you seem to be level-headed, sincere, caring and fun. I'm sure you can see that we DESPERATELY NEED MORE PEOPLE LIKE YOU on this board.
I understand the need to step back, I hardly post here anymore because a lot of the arguments seem so petty sometimes. People take things too seriously or personally and it ruins the atmosphere. Its becoming less fun here because people seem to care more about their own "agendas" over the feelings of others. I see this on other boards as well. I just hope that if you stray, that you at least keep in touch with us here and check in from time to time. Thanks for being you.

The local co speech about Malawi
by Nordic ini remember in the summer 2001, when the co was given a speech about the malawi sister's and brother's.
he told how the top jw wanted to talk to the president of malawi.
when they arrived to the meeting the president was nervous and had his lawyer beside him.

Uh, yeah especially when they were sending letters to Mexico at the same time stating that they could give bribes to public officials for a document that stated that they had served in the military. The blood is on the hands of the WTS, these witnesses in Malawi trusted the society as the word coming down from God and gave their lives because they wouldn't go against it. The society could have saved all these lives by changing the policy at that time which they don't even subscribe to today.
The horrible part is that this is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to WTS bloodshed.

baptising minors
by Marilyn intonights news has made me think even harder about baptising minors.
it's one thing to hold adults accountable for breaking wt rules, but it's not right to subject kids to the harshness of shunning for doing what their parents encouraged them to do - get baptised.
when ever my kids screw up, i'm not that thrilled but i ultimately blame myself for my inadequate parenting - and yes i've been fairly inadequate at times.

I totally agree. I know I got baptized at 16 because 4 other kids around my age were going to. I didn't want to get left out and shunned as being "not spiritual". I never really had the desire to get baptized, only that it was something that I had to do and was expected to do. Had I waited until I was an adult I would have never done it.
I do agree that witnesses push kids into marriage early indirectly, but officially they are counseled to wait before getting married until they are older and able "to make an adult decision". Isn't getting baptized just as weighty a decision as getting married? How hypocritical!

Coronation Street is a long-running British "soap opera". Even longer running than All My Children and Days of Our Lives.
Ohhh, ohhh, but is it longer running than General Hospital, which has been running since pre-telivision days on radio?

Armageddon Starting
by Tish innow you all may laugh at me, but last night about 1am, i wake up to find my bed shaking!!
when i looked around the room the walls were shaking, what was going on???.
now you all may have this happen, but in the uk it is very very rare, we were experiencing our first earthquake in 15 years, well my jw head clicked in, is this armageddon??.

Here in Southern California we have several earthquakes a year. Most are too small to feel. The last one I felt was around last December I think. I usually sleep through them if they are at night. Its basically continental plates shifting, nothing to be alarmed about. Although I'm sure they are extremely rare in England, its not impossible for it to happen.
Don't worry, God is not going to KILL you.
