Always reminds me of the dude counselling people on their talks when they would be working on "Pronounciation". Yeah, that is how he would pronounce it, the dumbass. I'm not a grammar master, and I treat what I write in message boards like my informal speech. If someone is trying to come off as a know-it-all, but can't differentiate between what there doing over their and were doing over hear, then they deserve what they get. That is especially so if I disagree with the point they are trying to make. It's not very fair, I know. It's also good to keep in mind that not everyone has English as a first language. Occasionally, my fingers on one hand will type faster than the figners on the other. (Yeah, I actually did it while typing that sentence. I'm proficient with the backspace key and do it without really thinking about it, and in this case I actually had to retype it the way I originally typed it just to show what I was talking about.) Crap, is that a run-on sentence? What a dangerous post this is. Alright editors, help me out here. What did I screw up?

Flu made in china, make em stop it
by Satanus ini'm slowly recovering from a flu.
reading up a bit about flus, i found that about 80% of them come from china.
it's because in some areas of china, large numbers of people and other animals like pigs, fowl and even some wild animals waiting to be eaten live really close together.

This one popped out at me
6. Would you invite a stranger into your home without first finding out who he is? What if there was no way to find out? Would you allow such a stranger to be alone with your children? Like certain JW's for instance? They will allow confessed pedophiles to knock on your door. Thankfully, the internet can help you avoid such a pitfall.
OK, I added the stuff in italics.

How'd they get a sample of Jesus' DNA?
I was wondering the same thing. What is that blanket that supposedly jesus was wrapped in? the shroud of ... something? I was reading a fictional book where someone got a sample of blood off of that and cloned (or attempted to clone jesus dna yada yada.) Maybe Cameron read that book and got some ideas?
edited to add: It is the "Shroud of Turin".http://www.shroudofjesus.com/

Why do people act so weird on the internet?
by serendipity ininteresting article that doesn't really explain why people are weird, but indicates that the "social" rules are different from real life.
what's interesting to me is how we justify behaving differently online.. .

I suspect that people online get to act the way they wish they could in real life (sometimes). At least, some people. I don't use any instant messaging services. I can't think of the last time I have. It's been years.

Age Differences in Relationships Help!
by noontide ini find myself in a situation that has me very confused.
id like your input on this.
i work for a large company (over 550 employees) and as such, romantic and or sexual relationships between employees tend to develop every once in a while.

10 years difference isn't a huge difference anyway. A twenty to thirty year difference might turn some heads, but even then, if it doesn't matter to the two adult parties involved then who cares? And you're always taking a chance starting relationships at work, regardless of age differences. Actually, you are taking a chance whenever you start any relationship. It's not like elders are going to show up at your door with the Family book, and ask when you plan on getting married! (That's not gonna happen, right?)

Your Feelings On Getting Reinstated For Family Considerations
by minimus ini just read the mary/gumby where are they thread.
i want to say right from the start that i like gumball very much.
i've talked by phone to him in the past and we've had some discussions here over the years.

I've done it. I don't know his circumstances, and how far he has to take his reinstatement for his desired purposes, but it is possible to do so without getting sucked back in completely, without completely giving yourself over to it all. I, however, was never really shunned by my mother even while disfellowshipped. I was lucky. I got reinstated because she had cancer, and many people (jw's, but not only) were always over her house. I felt she would be a lot more comfortable, not just on her own part, but also knowing that I being a reinstated/undisfellowshipped person wouldn't feel as uncomfortable around them. She knew my views, though I didn't press them on her, as she would have had very little to gain by leaving the religion in her state (or even questioning it). We all make sacrifices in our lives. Some make bigger ones than others. Nobody is completely true to themselves (you can sit there and say you are, but you can't convince me). I don't know Gumby, and I don't have to know Gumby to say that it is a difficult decision for someone to make, but not necessarily a wrong one.

JW's - Satanic Cult or just wrong-headed religion?
by AK - Jeff inthe evils of the religion are well documented here and elsewhere - but does that prove to you that they are indeed 'satanic', under the direction of satan?
or are they just screwed up?
jeff .

It is at the least a religion with cultist tendencies. Can you name me a right-headed religion? Religion is a means to give answers to people who aren't satisfied with things based in reality. IS JW (the religion, not the people) more dangerous than most mainstream religions? Yeah. Is it lead by what seems to be power hungry men? Yeah. If there were a god, would he deem it's adherents to be "Devil Worshippers"? I really don't think so. I'm not afraid of JWs coming to my door and stealing my cat for ritual sacrifice. I feel bad for most of them because their lives are being controlled by a few men whom most of them know nothing about.

just got this one from my mom...
11 things guaranteed by the watchtower bible and tract society.
1. We don't care how tired or busy you are, no amount of time spent is ever enough for us. 2. Don't ask us for anything, That is our job to ask stuff of you. 3. After you have joined, we pretty much ignore you unless you stop going to meetings, in which case we will have to shame you into coming back so you can contribute to the contribution box. 4. IF YOU QUESTION US, YOU ARE A TROUBLE MAKER. We treat you like children so that you become dependent on us for everything. After that, we own you. 5. Don't bother complaining, because we won't listen anyhow.
6. We never said we were perfect, cuz we aren't... oh, but we expect you to be.
7. Even if there is a legitimate problem in the kingdom hall, make sure nobody besides an elder knows about it, because we have to pretend we are always happy, We are after all...the happy people.
8. If something might offend someone, then don't do it, cuz we don't need no stumbling blocks. There is nothing more offensive than a sister's kneecap, or hair on an adult mans chin.
9. God needs all the money he can get to carry on his work, and wasting money on something unnecessary like new clothes when you could be helping us buy ink for the copy machine really pisses God off.
10. Blessed is he who professes to love God but hates his brother and sister, after all, that is what we expect you to do when we disfellowship them.
11. Blessed are you who, when you read this, think twice about joining up. -

by Fisherman ini would like to get some honest answers about your position on blood transfusion.
as we get older, sooner or later we wind up in the hospital and the question they always ask is"...in the event.. would you accept blood?
