  sometimes i do not get any new updates of letters under friends catagory for 3 or 4 days and then i will go on and those three or 4 days will suddenly show up all at once.

  Double Standards?

  talk about a dysfunctional family life.... did anyone else experience growing up in a dub family that had a double standard for siblings?.

  my younger sister was allowed too: have new kids on the block posters on her wall, as well as gotten taken to a nkotb concert... have & play a keyboard.

  pick her own music, & have a boom box in her room.

  This is hardly a JW thing. I'm pretty sure that it works out that way most of the time. People usually have higher standards and expectations for their older kids. Incorporated into the cult's lifestyle it probably is just a bit more prominent. Sure, it isn't fair. But only one half is complaining aren't they? I'm a middle kid. Trust me, we get screwed the most.

  reading hellriders topic made me wonder about this.. i waited till i was 21 because i was drinking alcohol as a youth and didn't want to get baptized while breaking the law.

  man that is screwed up, seemed reasonable at the time.

  Remember how we used to clap when the final prayer was over??

  I think now, at least subliminally we said it all.

  Yeah, I can recall that my clapping after the closing prayer was the only clapping that was actually heartfelt from me any way.

  Food tickets.....what a riot!

  I could have lived all weekend off of apple danishes.

  Even before I went bad I knew we were clapping cuz it was over. I loved the apple danishes too. Once they went free to the donation basis, I'd load up on them to munch on during the talks.

  the reason why i have asked such is question is that i served as a congregation elder for 12 years.

  i served as the presiding overseer for 10 years, and as chairman and media spokes-person for a particular region.

  during my time within the organisation that being almost 30 years, i have concluded that there is, as far as my own experience is concerned grave doubt in my mind as to the existence of the devil and his demonic hoard.

  I never had a tick bite but I am surprised that so many could be biting you without you feeling any pain

  Actually they dont bite, but you dont feel them at all!

  They actually inject something that makes you not feel them (i've heard...I am not a biologist). Anyhow, I was fishing one day in shorts around some tall grass. Later that evening after stepping out of the shower I had one hell of a shock: a tick had attached itself to my testicles. I laugh about it now, but OH THE HORROR!!!!!!!!! I am now completely paranoid of ticks and my wife makes fun of me. She just doesn't get it.

  Did you ever write an excuse on the back of your service report?

  when i joined the jw's, i remember an elder stating that when you do less than the average number of hours in your month, mark the reason why in the back of the service report sheet that you give at the end of each month.. did anybody else receive these instructions way back in the late 80's?

  I remember the one time I aux pioneered. I only got 57 hours. The elder I was giving it to told me to just write down 60.

  Made only once--no rebaptisms allowed

  When I was baptized there was an old guy (forgot his name) who was getting baptized again. I never got an answer as to why. Anyone ever heard of this happening or know of a reason that someone would get baptized twice? I wish I could remember his name.
