  Planting seeds of thought with my JW doctor

  i have hesitated to post anything about my recent encounters with our jw doctor, because i don't really want anyone to insult her or me, for continuing to rely on her for medical care.

  our family doctor is a jehovah's witness.

  we were referred to her by our former bs conductor.

  Since when are GPs/family doctors ever in a position to "prescribe blood" or "administer blood"?

  I wonder what she does when one of her patients, or better yet an anemic patient would greatly benefit from a few pints of blood. Does she pass the patient on to another Dr. or does Sister Doctor actually prescribe blood when needed. That's something that her patients need to take into consideration if they know her JW standing.

  All that's needed to find out her Dub standing is to ask her how she feels about prescribing blood for her patients and watch her facial reactions and listen to see if she doesn't give a definitive answer. If she can't answer directly and firmly it's time to find a new family physician and perhaps report her to the board if she doesn't believe in administering blood.

  i would like some advice from those that are inpartial, and are familiar with the teachings of jw.

  i studied with a wonderful jw couple weekly for 3 years.

  It may be that your Bible study conductors are "awake" JWs; i.e., they are aware of "the truth about the 'Truth'," and know the shortcomings of the Watchtower organisation - but are (for some reason) unable to leave. They may not WANT to indoctrinate you in watchtowerisms, only holding to the Bible - for the sake of their own conscience.

  In such a scenario, it is understandable that they would continue Bible-only studies with you (clear conscience + countable service time, to meet the required minimum) - even without signs of JW-approved "progress".

  I'm talking about nature as in the purpose of biological functions and substances (i.e. sperm, eggs, male and female reproductive systems, etc.).

  Is it similarly "unnatural" for a pregnant woman to have heterosexual sex? After all (except for the rare exception, in the early weeks of a pregnancy), further instances of heterosexual coitus will not fulfil any biological purpose re: reproduction.

  More examples of "unnatural" sex*: heterosexual sex with the deliberate use of contraceptives; heterosexual sexual activity after menopause; heterosexual sexual activity between infertile partners.

  Should they stop?

  a thousand a dollar was not very pricy.... Most witnesses I guess would afford that, at least in my country...

  If you are where I think you are, it wouldn't cost only $1000 in your country.

  Anyone else having a bad few weeks??

  i seem to have a really crap couple of months with stuff going wrong.

  people being nasty to me.

  i saw a neighbour of mine today (who i fell out with 18 months ago), to whom i've since apologised for losing my temper with, but today, when i smiled at her, she looked at me daggers!!!

  Yes!

  After major surgery (to attenuate a knee problem) and 5 days in hospital, I was discharged on a Sunday afternoon - with strict advice to NOT place more than 20 kilos of weight on the affected knee... hence, 2 crutches and no extended standing.

  On the morning of my 3rd day at home, one crutch slips on the smooth kitchen floor, I plant my foot, HARD, (yes, the foot on that leg) to avoid a fall - but momentum wins the point... with a twist: I tear a ligament (LCL) on the newly operated knee!

  In the absence of an English version of this video, if anyone wants to transcribe and translate the dialogue (for the benefit of the non-Spanish speakers on the forum), I am willing to collaborate with you.

  It would be easier to divvy up the characters, with one transcriber responsible for the lines 1 or 2 characters. Someone can then mesh the text with timings.

  Pioneer Encouragement - "You can sit in the back room"

  last night one of the pioneers stopped by on her way home from the pioneer meeting.

  she has always been very kind and i believe she is acted out of concern, however her visit was unsettling.
