Slimboyfat, do you consider it a similarly unacceptable violation of the person, should medical personnel force activated charcoal down the gullet of an attempted suicide-by-pills/poison/alcohol? If such a person is discovered, and that one's life can still be saved, is it immoral to negate the individual's choice to die, by administering an antidote?

Jehovah's Witness boy fights court for right to die
by jwfacts inhttp://www.smh.com.au/nsw/religious-boy-fights-court-for-right-to-die-20130917-2tx5u.html.
this is tragic.
the boy is 17, and earlier this year the courts ruled that he was to be forced a transfusion.

I made a huge mistake
by KariOtt inits been a tough 6 months for my jw hubby and myself.
next saturday is our anniversary.
i wasn't sure we would make it with the turbulance of the last 6 months.

KariOtt, I am guessing that you meant to take the burden off of your husband, by buying yourself an anniversary gift in his name [and with his money?].
Perhaps, that is the aspect that bothers him most: the nature of 'his gift to you' is one which he would be horrified to have ascribed to him (because it is contrary to his beliefs).
If the cross represents something that you personally cherish, perhaps you can resolve the issue by 'buying' the necklace in your own right, then select another, more husband-approved gift as your proper anniversary present. [Of course, this could all have been avoided - and still can be righted - if your husband would simply step up, and select for you his own gift from the heart.]

People have a right to preserve their culture race and identity!!!
by Joliette inone of the biggest things that bothered me as a jehovahs witness was the whole 'we are the world' bullcrap that they used to teach, and that culture, color, and race didnt matter.
as far as i'm concerned thats a bunch of bs.
people have a right to preserve who they, where they came from, and they have a right to be represented.

Quick question: does everyone on this forum (Europeans and American) equate "ghetto" with 'an all-Black neighborhood'?
I watched an American-made documentary film yesterday, called "Oxyana," which exposed the deleterious impact of prescription drug abuse (particularly, Oxycontin/Oxycodone) on the population of a small town in West Virginia - Oceana (Wyoming County).
I would certainly describe that community - comprised of white Appalachia folk, former coal miners, destitute, devoid of hope and outside world experience, trapped in a cycle of addiction, poverty and violence - as a ghetto. Yet, not a dark skin was seen (on the film, at least).
How do you describe a ghetto? What is its most prominent feature? Race, or socio-economic condition (class and prospects)?

Terry's book: I WEPT BY THE RIVERS OF BABYLON
by tec ini just finished reading this book, by our terry, and i thorougly enjoyed it.
terry has an amazing gift for words and expression - as most of you already know - and he lured me in from the very start.
reading this book is an actual experience... and i don't want to say much more than that, because i don't want to color your experience as you read for yourself.. .

A pilgrimage to Terry's book-signing event? [With much advance notice, for long-distance travellers.]
Why should you be f ê ted only by crickets, when you already have so many cyberfans?
Congratulations, Terry!

Writing a book
by DeWandelaar indear all,.
today i decided i will write a book.

Well, er... the Dutch language itself - of course - can't help itself: the construction is always a pleasure to 'feel' in my head. It has the texture of, say, a stroopwafel.
The narrative, at first, meanders (het dwaalt) unfocused; then, it doesn't so much flow, as ooze... with the uncomfortable creepiness of a peeping tom. [Sorry! ] The 'tale' then stutters rapidly through a summary of decades of events, like a suddenly nervous history student at an oral exam.
Surely, a reader needs to be led by the hand... along a paved road, and first be made curious to peer into your looking glass toward future events.
That's all I've got (for now). Thanks for the preview!

I am not familiar with the Book of Enoch, or any of the characters therein. I would like to read your story of Rhode, if you'll post it here. [You needn't spend time to translate it; just post it, as is (please?).]

Upon reading the sites's call name, I keep 'seeing' "Jehovah strumpet"! My first thought was, "Is that a new sort of temple prostitute?"
(On second thought, anonymity is a beautiful, mysterious thing.)

If the big change at the AGM meeting is dropping the literal 144,000...
by slimboyfat inthe best conjecture seems to be that the gb are going to drop the literal 144,000 teaching, especially in view of the december watchtower that pointedly does not mention the 144,000 number.
if they are dropping the literal 144,000 number, but still claim that only a small number are anointed, and can partake, and that only a few are left on earth, then it is fair to ask what has really changed?
they are simply clearing up the embarrassing situation that there were obviously more than 144,000 "anointed" believers from 36 ad until now, and that the number of partakers has been increasing in recent years.

JWs, most of them anyway, simply flat-out don't care what the doctrines are. They just don't.
They enjoy a warped sense of "unity", a superficial feeling of "love' and "brotherhood", and a misguided and wasteful "purpose" to their lives. Doctrine, the actual teachings, are utterly irrelevant.
Organisational loyalty is the highest virtue.
