THis morning on one of those morning talk shows, was some chick talking about her liking being submissive, and her proof of '17 years of marraige being proof that it was a good idea.' (There's alot of fallacy in that 17 year statement alone, and I just shook my head). Anyway, I think it was the Today Show. I overheard the male host while I was getting ready. He refused to comment, as it was a losing battle for him to comment. LOL.

Head of the House?
by cofty ini often see comments by ex-jws that would suggest some men still view themselves as "head of the house".
sometimes comments from women appear to support the idea as well.. how many still see things this way or have you completely got over it?.

Getting bullied in school? Pray... and stuff. That'll fix it for sure
by LucidChimp ina jdub who is close to me was telling me about the talk at their meeting this sunday.. some old git (visiting speaker) related a story about his grandson who was getting bullied in school.
the advice that was given to the boy was "pray to jehovah about it"... not "let's go talk to your teachers", or even "pass me my machete" (this is manchester, sue me).
nope - this poor lad was left to talk about his problems with, well let's face it, himself.. i was outraged at this and moaned for a while (i do that sometimes - often), only to hear the saddest part later.. the obviously-damaged-and-impaired-by-his-upbringing kid does pray about it, long and hard.

Bullying in school is really bad. I know a few kids (friends of mine) who were/are bullied. One was over social media. I reported it to the school counselor, and he quickly got to all the girls' parents so it could be dealt with. Another kid actually did the "fistful", but was caught on the school's camera. While this other kid was purely defending himself (not the first punch thrown), but kids had to appear in juvi court due to the school system's no tolerance rule. The judge put both kids on 3 months restraining orders against each other because it was each of their first offense. Yes, first offense even for the kid who was defending himself!
Now, what if the bullied kid yelled out to Jehovah in front of his peers? Yeah, that will surely stop the bully . . . . NOT. I bet it would get worse . . . alot worse. But, then it wouldn't be Jehovah's fault . . it would be viewed as persecution!

Suggestions for car buying
by FlyingHighNow inif you were a lady and you were 55 and had $5,000 or less to spend on a used car, what would buy?
top concerns: good mpg; reliable; in not having major issues like ball joints breaking, timing belts breaking, etc.
not too expensive to maintain.

Pay/have a mechanic of your choosing give it a thorough inspection. Don't forget to call your insurance company, as different cars are higher to insure.

New Study Exposes Acupuncture As Pseudoscience
by alecholmesthedetective inbesides it being pseudoscience, what interests me about this is that even though it's something to do with the "qi" energy flowing in our bodies, that wasn't a problem for some members of my family or a special pioneer i knew.. new study exposes acupuncture as pseudoscience.

I've seen horses being acupunctured. They had needles all in their butts, and totally calmed down like they were drugged (but no drugs given). So, it's not quack.

If they changed their blood banÂ…would their be a floodgate of lawsuits?
by Londo111 ini know nothing about legal matters, but there are those here who are quite keen at these things.. if they changed the no blood teaching, would this open the watchtower society up to litigation?.
-

First, the Watchtower is a religion. Religions can change their doctrine without legal liability in the US. Even if they were not a religion, attorneys can not bring into evidence a "subsequent remedial measure" (i.e. fixing a mistake) to prove that the original was wrong. I can't say about the rest of the world. But, the Watchtower actually changing their stance would be a loss of credibility. I think the Watchtower no longer believes in its blood ban. Hence, no new articles. Further, I think the Watchtower is hoping that the "fractions" will end up being the medical norm. So, as science grows to fit the Watchtower, the Watchtower does not have to adapt its policy.

The adults in the neighborhood wish him good riddance for other reasons. Their losing their house is of no concern or joy to the neighborhood. It's totally for other reasons. Only that the auction gives the neighborhood an end date for the neighborhood.

It could be a Halloween visit, but I heard that their house was being auctioned by the bank. Of course, they are fighting it. Now, the auction is scheduled for March 2014. I think many in our subdivision are counting down the days. The "grown ups" in the neighborhood don't like them for various reasons.
