Interesting conversation today with a very sick JW

i was talking to a jw friend of mine who is going for tests to see if she needs evasive surgery.

she was describing to me the look on the surgeons face when she told him she won't except blood.

i just felt sorry for her.

Ditto. One JW I know is always talking about his death. Isn't going to enjoy life, or do anything but go to the eetings and in service until the End comes.

my husband and i have been out of the org for quite some time, but still find that old ideas and values come up and bite us on the ass.. lately, i've been plagued by an increase in the frequency and severity of my nightmares (which have always been an issue,) so i've begun to dream journal.

in just a few days, this realization cropped up.

i can't save people.. i've been blogging again recently.

I had a crazy JW nightmare last night. I woke up and said, "Skeeter, that didn't make any sense." I went back to sleep and woke to a new day. I can't remember the dream, but FSU won today. So, all is right with the world.

How does she feel about blood fractions which are allowed?

Hemoglobin is allowed, and it is almost all of the red blood cell (except the skin). She might be able to get that, depending on teh country, through a special program that releases it to patients as an experiment.

All fractions of blood are allowed, not just hemoglobin. Albumin, clotting factors, immunoglobulins, etc. Also, cryopreciptiate, and croprenatate are allowed, and both of them together make up plasma. While she can't have plasma, she can have the two components of it.

While she can't have her own blood, she can have her own blood if it's called "current therapy."

i've been conducting a little experiment.

if i post funny things on my facebook timeline, or interesting things, all my jw friends comment, like, share etc.. .

without fail though, (so far) , if i post something humanitarian, something charitable, some local interest good news story about the community coming together as one, it's very rare for any of my witness friends to 'like', comment, or share.

What Made You Finally Wake Up?

hello to all.

i've been on this site for a couple of weeks now posting here and there but have not had the opportunity to read about many of the regular members and what led up to their leaving the wt.. i understand that some of you (i'm part of this club) may not be able to disclose many details and i can appreciate that.. i'd love to hear what was it that finally made you renounce what is and hopefully soon to be "was" the wt.. i truly look forward to having good discussions.. thank you to all for your kind participation.. .

My first inkling that I wanted out, was that I dreaded going to the meetings. I was happy afterwards, becuase it was OVER. I liked to see people, but I squirmed at the long, boring meetings.

Then, we had to go to a district convention in Tampa. There, a woman got up on the podium and said how terrible college was. She quit college and went back to pioneering. I was about 15 years old, and wanted to go to college. My parents told me I was going to college, but to just ingore this person and not say a thing about it a the Hall. They had gone to college after 1975. So, i felt a disconnect that it was ok to not believe everything the WTS said. This was about 1983.

In 1984/85ish, I had advanced placement classes, physics, math, etc. Even though this stuff was "hard", it was easy and I clearly understood every step in the problems and theories. But, I couldn't wrap my head around 1914. It seemed like the WTS was jumping through the Bible to make it say what they wanted. Their reasoning didn't sit right with me. If this was such an important date, why didn't Jehovah just say so. Why did He have to make it jumping around the bible, squinting your eye, to read that the "Generation of 1914 would not pass away." At the same time, I had harder classes and now a part-time job. I didn't feel like going out in service, becuase the teachings just didn't smell right to me. So, it was pretty easy to let my door-to-door drop. Then, an elder approached me. I told him I wanted to go to college, and disagreed with the assembly teacher. He tried to tell me that college was bad, but he, himself, was a doctor! So, I called him out on it. I just saw it all so hypocritical. I pretty much just left/faded/went on to college, career, started a family after that. But, I still didn't know TTAT.

Then, in 2004/2005, it was www.ajwrb.org that led me to really question. Once I saw the blood faction hypocrisy, I lost any shred of JWism. I saw the WTS in the same light as the twisted tongue of Satan.

i dont believe in god but i definitely believe in a spirit world.

A day in the life of a Cop...my story. The truth.

i work for a mental health unit with 2 police officers we deal with people who have drug and mental health issues.

at times over the last 10 years we have "taken down" some large drug affected men, mainly "ice" these days which is epidemic here, and let me tell you even with three of us it is a huge struggle.

sometimes back up is needed or mace spray which is aweful stuff!

Thank you for your service. The day you described and the situations you go for sound very tough. Hats off to you for doing the job you do, and making the world safer for the rest of us. Honestly, I think the yellow bellied liberals would pee in their tighty whities if they had to walk a mile in a policeman's (or woman's) shoes.

As far as the 'give a cop a gun' comment from above. Cops are supposed to have guns, becuase the bad guys have bigger guns. How foolish is that thinking to not give cops guns.
