just remember...for everything GOD does, which is perfect and good, there is a counterfiet.
so i'm not suprised by the other "god's" similar resurections and ascentions.
interesting that you found so much info.amazing how much is out there and we have not even scratched the surface
i'm just learning the computer, and i'm overwhelmd by what i have found on the net so far.

Jesus resurrection was nothing special.
by unclebruce inthe times in which jesus lived are well documented.
we know a lot about the historical context of the world in which he lived.

Who's Going to the Memorial??
by Prisca injust wondering..... for those of us who are inactive, or have serious doubts, etc etc... are you going to the memorial, even though you don't fully agree with how they explain things?.
anyone planning to have their own at home?.
or are you still planning on going, even if it's to say g'day to long "lost" friends?.

the first time i did "communion" and partoke of the bread and wine was an unforgettable experience. i was really doing what our LORD commanded us to do. it was a joyful and meaningful moment for me.
yes, the memorial sham at the kh is just that.....a sham and a shame, it has nothing to do with Jesus and his dying for us.
i hope they figure it out one day, but did the pharisees change???? -

that is the one thing that i was really impressed by in both of franz's books..his love for his mislead brothers. the info is vast in the "search" book, and was an eye opener in so many respects.
it just confirmed the things i knew in my heart...wtbs does not have the truth..only Jesus does
i reccomend that any jw read both of these books -

Are Kingdom Songs Good for You?
by Englishman ini have a little theory buzzing around in the back of my mind.
it was triggered by trevors comments re the low self esteem that is endured by many jw youngsters.. i`m wondering if the singing of kingdom songs can actually make you feel depressed and worthless.
i know it might seem a strange idea at first, but see if my reasoning doesn`t make at least some sense.. i frequently see the tv ad for linguaphone, the language learning course, that uses your repetition of foreign language phrases spoken along with a cassette recording.

kirk franklin is great...saw him this summer at nashville billy graham crusade...he had the house just wild ...with joyus praise for our LORD.
i never saw that kind of joy at an assembly, did
you???
but i have to relate something here. as a jdub kid and young adult, i remember the disdain and hate the jw's had for billy graham. he's quite old now( like the boyz at brooklyn), and had to be helped out to the stage area to speak. what really hit me hard (i was there for the concert) was his message. He had such a spirit of love about him, and all he wanted to do was share his JESUS with everyone. that's all he has done for decades now. no org, no controlling of minds.
i started to weep. i had to repent and ask GOD to forgive me for hating this man. i never gave him any thought previous to this meeting. i never watched him on tv. but here in front of 70 thousand ppl was a faithful servant of GOD's whose message was of love, forgiveness, the cross...simple, easy....truthful.
and i am not one to get swept up in emotion or follow the crowd.but GOD dealt with me right there in my seat. i had the pleasure and the honor to witness a true servant

Grounds for Disfellowshipping?
by eyes_opened inhey all,.
i'm sure this topic has probably been covered before, but as i'm in this situation now i'm hoping maybe you can offer your thoughts.. i'm just curious, what are actually grounds for disfellowshipping?.
i'm to the point where i no longer believe that jehovah's witnesses have the truth, but if at all possible i want to avoid the big *d* word, as most of my family and my husbands family are still jehovahs witnesses.

just be like a householder...don't go to the door
they will dig, and even if you play the game, they will assume what they want to . gossip is a big jw trait especially amongst the women folk( they have extensive training in the car groups).
you will be bugged to death by the elders...
if you no longer want to be part of the jw system..just walk away. you have nothing to loose really. if the elders deem you a problem, or if they think you may be "pre-apostate", your gonna get black balled either way
i know..been there
but in the end, it doen't matter...just get tight with GOD and HE will deliver you from this!!!!

WHY ? !!!
by somebody inthe very first scripture cited under the "sharing on a judicial committee" in the elders book is duet.
1:16. here are a million questions!
how do members let the higher -ups use a scripture from the ot where moses was speaking to isreal, and completely disregard jesus' words?

in search of christain freedom was a great book..your eyes will really "pop" open. it is a huge book, but i got thru it and i cannot tell you the weight off my shoulders, knowing that leaving the org was the right thing to do, and my bible trained conscience was a well honed tool.
i like also that he does not write(ray franz) with anger or hate. he really has the love of Jesus in him.
at least i think so, and the info was detailed and documented -

Another pagan ritual JW's practice
by TR ini recieved this in an email this morning: thanks, man.
it was the accepted practice in babylon 4,000 years ago that for a. month after the wedding, the bride's father would supply his son-in-law with all the mead he could drink.
mead is a honey beer and because their calendar was lunar based, this period was called the honey month or what we know today as the honeymoon.. tr

i believe that reporting your time and underlining the watchtower have pagan beginnings...........
and chanting the same song , at the same time, en masse around the world, using the ancient symbols of musical notes surely has pagan overtones...... -

being a jw kid had a few good moments, but basicly it sucked. in school i was the ONLY one who was a jw( and painfully shy on top of that) and had few friends at the hall. i went to a very "klicky" hall and was from a family of 6 kids, so the highlight of the year were gettogethers.
as for boyfriends..forget it, activities in school, only evil worldly kids would do that( i did play jv basketball one year-my dad was not a jw)
when i got to my senior year in hs, i had pretty much lost interest in the "truth", but went to the hall( sometimes hung-over) in case armageddon hit(1974)
got married to a jw kid at 18 just out of school...long story..
hated giving talks, hated door to door work, meetings were boring, i could doodle in the margins of my watchtower like nobody else..i was artistic(could not accept an art scholarship...college??? hahahahah
well, you know the rest......................so here i sit..mid 40's, grown kids and the heart break is while i raised them, i had no hopes or goals for their lives either
