How many Dubs REALLY want the end to come?

many of the dubs i know don't really want the end to come.

sure, they like the idea of youth in perpetuity, good health, no death, peace.... who doesn't?

they want those things to end.. but in their heart of hearts, do you really think they actually long for the destruction of other human beings that are so graphically depicted in the pubs?.

That's odd to me Zack. The ones I know certainly do. In fact not wanting to see the kingdom is odd in itself unless like you say it's a desire not to see the mass slaughter, which is of course commendable. As a Dub I was always fearful of what the tribulation may bring, but that didn't put me off hoping for it. Maybe hoping that Armageddon isn't going to come should be a disfellowshipping offence? :O)

when i did janitorial work, i cleaned a law office.

one night, as the owners were leaving, they told me that one of the attorney's, by the name of bill, was leaving to work for a different firm.

for the next couple of months, though, i kept seeing this attorney there, working.

i got this message from a forum member.. i think you may be confusing the wts' understanding of the "sheep" of matthew chapter 25 (who have not yet been separated from the "goats") and the "other sheep" of john chapter 10. the two groups are not (i.e.

no longer) considered synonymous.. .

what am i missing?

Is it appropriate for a stranger to comment on a woman's bruises?

if you saw a woman in public, and said woman was a complete stranger to you, would you feel it's appropriate to discuss it with her (if you're concerned she is in an abusive relationship)?

if you did, would it be appropriate to do it within earshot of others?

and if she offered you an explanation other than abuse, how would you proceed?

rebel8 it just goes to show the importance of outward appearances. People will make assumptions based on how you appear to them. I actually think it's a good thing that people take the trouble to ask you if you're ok. It's obviously irritating you but to be anonymous in a society that is indifferent is in my opinion worse. I'm not sure how you could fend off these unwelcome approaches, but maybe you could just smile and tell them the exact name of your condition. Baffle them with medical nomenclature and put their mind at ease in one fowl (or foul) swoop so to speak.

the subject of how ones remains are dealt with, i think, is very revealing of ones core beliefs.

i've heard atheists say that under no circumstances would they want to be cremated.

that, to me, is inconsistent with their proclaimed viewpoint.

This may be just a rumor, but I heard that Ted Jaraczxzx (GB. Phd. AH) has arranged for his anus to be surgically removed after his death and preserved in a block of Lucite. This in turn is to be mounted in a headstone at his gravesite. No inscription required.

I'd also heard that he once had an asshole transplant but that the new asshole had rejected him.

bad things do happen for a reason.

here is the reason.. for bad things not to happen only good things would always be happening.. then, "good" would lose relative distinction with less "good".

the less good would start to look bad in comparison.. suddenly, what use to seem only good would be bad by contrast.. is this crazy talk?.

Interesting. If one were to argue a case for the existence of a heaven: a perfect place, it would, using your logic make sense to have an imperfect earth; somewhere to observe or experience the bad and thus keep the ying and yang, albeit separated by dimension. That's it! That's the reason why we're here. Or riding on a cliche, are there some who only see good, and some who only see bad?

I believe that when my body expires it simply becomes a carcass for disposal. I'd like to donate the parts of my body that may be useful to others. I'd then like the remains to be cremated and the ashes scattered on the JWD forum, preferably in the Best Of Section.

I'm a spiritualist by the way.

Can God see the future?

i've been out a while, but i remember thinking about this as a teenager and being confused, (my mother told me i must be posessed by demons to think such things and so never offered me an explanation).

what do the jws say about it.

if jehovah can see into the future, he would've known what a mess he was going to make of creation so he would've decided against it before he even thought of it.. based on the theory that he went ahead and created everything anyway, that must mean he can't see into the future.. i also seem to remember that god doesn't interfere with man, because we have free will, so all our actions are down to us and in no way "steered" or "influenced" by god.. so how can he make predictions about the future, i.e.

What if God can see into the future but chooses not to as it compromises free will? . . . Although sometimes he does have a crafty look.

Is shunning scriptural? At all?

it's obvious that the jw view of shunning goes way beyond anything called for in the bible.

1 cor 5:11-13 says,(nwt) "but now i am writing you to quit mixing in company with anyone called a brother that is a fornicator or a greedy person or an idolater or a reviler or a drunkard or an extortioner, not even eating with such a man.

for what do i have to do with judging those outside?

The points about Peter/Jesus and Thomas/Jesus are well made. The fact that the Watchtower supremos fail to follow the examples of early Christians and make their own rules up further exposes the organisation as a jumped up cult with a bunch of man made rules. Off at tangent, look also at the case of Peter baptizing Cornelius without ever demanding that he first resign from the military where he was a serving Roman army officer. Would the Dubs baptize a serving US marine?
