The happiest people on earth?

my fading brother just informed me of two jw suicides in his area within the last few weeks.. one was recently disfellowshipped.. the other was an active publisher, possibly a ministerial servant.

.

both left young children behind.. the cases appear to be unrelated.. of course suicide is nothing unique to jehovah's witnesses.. but most of us know that as a group they are no happier than any other segment of the population, quite possibly less so due to the burdens placed upon them and their paradisaic hopes that go perpetually unrealized.. .

Religions/faiths/cults certainly seem to be expanding in numbers.

There's such a huge choice for someone considering taking up a new faith. Maybe they could have speed dating where you go to a big hall, and roam from table to table, with each exponent given 5 minutes to do his mantra and make you a convert. I don't reckon there'd be much of a queue at the OBVES table though.

JWs are having a tough time

yesterday i made a post that discussed some common argumentation methods that jws use to defend their religion and why they are faulty.

you can read that post here.

in that post i mentioned how jws live in a system that encourages, rewards, and praises people for using poor thinking methods.

Strangely enough I had some Mormons come to my door the other day, and they had a similar modus operandi. They at first seemed enthusiastic at my (pretend) interest, but glazed over when I engaged in logical debate. It suddenly started to feel as though I was talking to someone in another dimension, where words disappeared in mid air or changed their shape and meaning before they reached the other person's ear. Intelligent debate can be too much like hard work for these people, it's easier to move on until you come across an easier target.
