Word/image Association: What does "Rainbow" make you think of?
by gaiagirl ina jw who works where i work saw a new age cd with an image of a rainbow on the cover, and immediately said "this is homosexual".
is this a widespread feeling among jw's, or fundamentalists in general?

Gay/Lesbian Symbols
by Crumpet inthe whole rainbow thread piqued my curiosity.
i have often wondered how you know without speaking to someone if they are gay and you are not in a known gay place - like um brighton or the candy bar in london.. does anyone know of any other gay and lesbian symbols or signs?.
someone told me once that a ring on your pinkie was a sign - can anyone verify the truth of this?.

I once heard about gay guys having a handkerchief sticking out their rear
trouserpantsdenims pocket to show they were both gay and available, but I think that may have been a west coast thing. I once went to the Fridge in Brixton with some friends (hetero couples) without realising it was gay night. I was asked loads of times if I was gay, even with a girlfriend sitting on my lap!Maybe it was because I was a hunk , but I certainly didn't have a bushy moustache, a leather bikers cap, a sleeveless tee shirt or anything like that, LOL..

This is why I won't open a link submitted by a new Newbie. I'm soooo glad, especially looking at the comments.

Why do the GB members live so long?
by yaddayadda indon't know if it's my imagination but a lot of these gb old boys seem to have a knack for living a really long time.
i think freddy franz was 99 when he died?

Gill exactly my point!
BTW I'm avoiding your Life on Mars thread as I missed the last episode and am waiting for the repeat. I love that programme. I see a CD of the soundtrack is out too.

Freedom
by sweet pea inwhat a rollercoaster the last couple of days has been.
having been prompted gently and lovingly by husband 'besty' i have examined my faith, sorry the organisation, and finally realised that he has been right all along in his reservations.
i feel all sorts of emotions, mainly happiness at finally feeling free - no more meetings (i never could see why we had to attend 3 a week and always felt stressed about taking the babies along when they should be in bed!

SweetPea - great news and welcome to the real world. Surely there's no rush to consider how you're going to extract yourself from the cult or how you're going to deal with the relationships you have within the Hall? Take plenty of time to consider your future and tread very carefully with your JW friends.
HelenRose welcome to the Forum!

How'd you pick your Avatar and/or Username? (Share a little bio?)
by Open mind ineven though you might think it's painfully obvious, explain why you chose your avatar and/or username.
it could help us faceless "netizens" get to know each other a little better.
open mind.

Clam
In the distant past I used to use a chat room where it was the thing to use bizarre usernames. I was Clam Surveys - the first name that came into my head! I've since used it or Clam as a net name. On ocassions that rude man Gumby has called me Bearded Clam, which I find very hurtful.
The avatar is Eli Wallach playing the "Ugly" Mexican bandit Tuco in one of my favourite films, The Good The Bad and the Ugly.
